I sure can:

Re: Any Anime fans out there?

Thanks Clorox. I've read in a couple of websites that since the film "Densha Otaku" came out opinion of Otaku has been changing slightly, but its probably me just imagining things.
A few months back when i was in Japan with my friend (he's Japanese), we went to Akihabara and he mentioned that I should really limit the amount of time i go there since there were stories of stabbings by people who people who flip... a few months later, surely enough, there was the murder that was covered in the news.
I was planning to go there on that day as well... I pretty much kept to Harajuku after that - if i needed any electricals, I went to the Yodobashi Camera in Shinjuku.
Im a bit socially awkward but I do have some social skill so when i use the word "Otaku" i dont perceive myself as an extreme otaku.

Maybe i should refrain from using that word.

Has anyone seen the Anime version of the Power Puff Girls?

Almost classed as "non-anime", but i only like it because its the Power Puff Girls!

Re: Any Anime fans out there?

I've adored Ryuk since the first chapter of the first volume of Death Note.

Re: Any Anime fans out there?

The original PPG were way better than this Power Puff Girls Z, imo. Original PPG were actually pretty clever and funny, PPGZ just seems like more of the same "magical girl superhero" stuff, where as PPG was more of a satire, sort of.

Agreed that Death Note is very good. For a while I was quite obsessed with it. Still, I have difficulty naming it as a favorite, because there are too many imperfections (imo) from a purely literary perspective. I've both read the manga and watched the anime a few times. Don't get me wrong, it does some things quite well, but I find it to be no means "perfect". The Light/L cat and mouse game was interesting. Near I didn't care much for, and I almost think it would have been better had they left out Misa and the other death-note. Those only seemed to serve to complicate the plot further in a way that almost made me doubt the author's cleverness, because it didn't seem particularly, beyond just giving Kira different circumstances and tools and dangers with which he had to maneuver.

I also think they could have focused more on the philosophical and character-based aspects. In the end, that sort of stuff almost didn't really matter, it was just about finding ways to outsmart each other while being dangerously (and simultaneously) close to victory/defeat. Don't get me wrong, that's awesome and everything and it;s why I really enjoyed death note. But if I had to pick a "masterpiece" of anime storytelling, I feel like I have to pick something a bit more complete/encompassing, from a story-telling perspective. Of course Death note it unique, so I guess any comparisons are kind of apples/oranges, and everyone has their own taste.

Re: Any Anime fans out there?

I'm not much of an anime fan but I absolutely love Hayao Miyazaki's creations, especially Nausicaa.

I'm not sure if Avatar: The Last Airbender should be considered anime but I watched that series religiously.

anime translated to english is sucky =]

Re: Any Anime fans out there?

I'd personally have to group Bo Bo Bo-Bo-Bo in the same group as "anime" like Pokémon and Sonic X. That sort of program that people call anime, yet the drawing style looks too clean - sterile. If you get what I mean.
Its probably because its aimed at a very young age group.

Anyone else had an odd fascination with anime's such as Cardcaptors and Sailor Moon?

Bobobo can be considered a censored if not just toned down version of FLCL (which I love)
among others
Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo are <3 too

anyways if you're a fan of Gantz manga don't ever watch the anime series :x

I was never much a fan of Paranoia Agent because I never fully watched it
but I did enjoy Satoshi Kon's Paprika and Tokyo godfathers

Re: Any Anime fans out there?

for me, .hack/sign, Inuyasha, the Gundam series, as well as the Dragonballs.

There's also this one I seen the first episode to, Elf or Elven something, I've NEVER seen that much blood in an Anime, hell, it's bloodier then the movie Akira, and the most recent Gundam series combined.

Also, I had no idea Cardcaptor Sakura was dubbed, I might just start watching again if I can fun the unedited series.

The dubbed version of Cardcaptor Sakura broke the original in so many ways, it made it darker. When I saw the original version after watching the dubbed version, I was surprised it was the same program I was watching!

Re: Any Anime fans out there?

I've been trying to watch RD Sennou Chosashitsu and Nabari no Ou, but I've been getting behind on those since I haven't had time to watch them.
I'm also trying to watch Moribito - Guardian of the Spirit, but that one seems kinda hard to get a hold of all the episodes.

Re: Any Anime fans out there?

ah, I tried watching Moribito - Guardian of the Spirit last year. its a good anime but I drifted away from it because my computer couldn't handle the mkv format without crashing every 5 mins... my new laptop can probably handle it better, so maybe its time I went back to it...

The anime you're thinking of is Elfen Lied, and I agree, that first episode really does leave a strong impression.

Inuyasha, Death Note, Neon Genesis Evangelion are among my faves of all time, and going a little further back, Dragon Ball Z.

Yu-Gi-Oh was also fun to watch IMO. It was kind of like watching DBZ where u had epic battles that spanned several episodes, except it was in card form lol.

My current obession: Code Geass. It starts off pretty slow, but when it kicks into high gear, you'll be hooked. Season 2 is almost done in Japan, and i'm going to go through serious withdrawl when its over.

Yah, that's the one.... I've honestly never seen so many dismembered limbs and blood in an anime before,, it's so fucked up... I don't get why people encourage that.

Re: Anyone else get aroused by any video game or a

OMG! to the original poster! Final Fantasy 8 is totally my favorite game! According to how my husband wears his hair, he looks like either Seifer (with his hair messy) or Zell (when his bangs are sticking up), so naturally they are my two favorite characters. Squall is tied with them though. I also think Raijin is pretty hot.

Go to this author's profile to read some very hot Squall/Seifer yaoi.

Also, I think my signature has the link to my own profile on fanfiction.net, which includes some awesome stories (or so I've been told). Feel free to visit mine and review them. I have my anomynous option on, so you don't need to have an account to review.

Anyways, Leon from Resident Evil 2 and 4 is another favorite of mine. Doesn't he look alot like Squall? Oh, and I think his name is Nero, from Devil May Cry 4?

Re: Anyone else get aroused by any video game or a

I like both videogame and cartoon characters once in a while. But mostly bearish guys. I never tell my mates Im playing with in Left4Dead, but I think Bill and Francis are hot, also many of the team fortress 2 guys, and the guys from battlefield heroes (the trailer gametrailers.com/player/33355.html has village people written all over it xD). I think Zangief from street fighter and Bass from the dead or alive series is kinda hot too. You must think Im a freak now xD
