Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's husband files for divorce

In spite of the MTG's lunacy, she's a multi-millionaire. Her husband Perry Greene owns a successful construction company.
I was wondering how long that Mr Greene would want his company associated with his wife's politics. Or how long he would be willing to put up with her touring the country with Matt Gaetz instead of being at home with him.
Apparently, they separated a while back, so I guess he got fed up. And the fact that he didn't wait until after the November election is probably a sign, although MTG will be re-elected. Her district is as deplorable as she is.
The good news is that she gets to live in that house that she bought in the 14th Congressional District so that she could claim residency there to run for Congress.
The latest issue of The Atlantic has a background article on MTG. It's the article that the press should have done back in 2017 before MTG was elected to Congress. It fills in a lot of the gaps in the story of where she came from and fleshes out some of what is in the posts above. Here's a few tidbits from the article:
- Her legal maiden name was Marjorie Taylor. Until recently, she was known by everyone as "Marge".
- Her father was a very Trump-y character. He started the construction company that Marge and Perry took over.
- Perry has made the company successful. He has a business degree from UGA (where he and Marge met) and worked for a big accounting firm before taking over as COO of his father-in-law's company.
- Marge was listed as the CFO of the company, however it's not clear that she ever really functioned as the CFO. The company paid millions of dollars in fines and tax penalties while she was listed as the CFO. Marge ran her campaign saying she was "a businesswoman" however she inherited the business and apparently wasn't very good at business. Her husband is the one who built the business.
- Marge got into CrossFit around the time that she bowed out from the CFO position at the construction business. She started teaching classes and eventually opened her own CrossFit gym. People who knew Marge from her Cross-fit days said that she was a great coach and they speak highly of her motivation and support of people in her classes.
- Marge fucked around on her husband with guys from the Cross-fit gym. Several men. One of the affairs with another Cross-fit coach was serious enough that her husband filed for divorce around 2012. Marge and Perry reconciled but Perry filed for divorce again in 2022.
- Marge's friends and coworkers say that she had something of a nervous breakdown around 2016 when she became a Trumper and Q-Anon adherent. She sold her share of the CrossFit gym, got bored with working out, had spontaneous crying fits and started a blog. The rest is history.

Follow-up to the Boebert oppo stories...
CNN researched the allegations made by Muckrakers PAC (the same PAC that released the oppo on Madison Cawthorn). Some of the allegations were confirmed but others could not be substantiated.
- The stories about Boebert's husband exposing himself in a bowling alley are true. They were confirmed by police reports.
- The escort website could not confirm that Boebert had a page there.
- The PAC hinted at an unsavory relationship between Ted Cruz and Lauren Boebert. Cruz did transfer money from his campaign to Boebert's. However, Boebert's campaign did disclose the donation from Cruz.
- The PAC alleged that Boebert had an abortion in 2004. This would have been 6 months before Boebert's son was born which would not make sense for a full-term pregnancy. Boebert's campaign put out a statement saying that Boebert didn't have an abortion on the date that the PAC alleged.
- The stories about Boebert's failed restaurant business were confirmed by stories on CNN and in The Daily Beast.

MTG is just the latest in a series of somewhat looney women that seem to be some sort of sex-fantasy for far-right Republican men. It's the same playbook as the the sexy librarian chic of Sarah Palin.
Eventually, these characters fly a little too close to the sun. It usually ends in a scandal, a divorce and a reality show. It's just a matter of time before MTG is replaced by the next sexy MILF fantasy character in the RNC.
I did like that the wingnuts had a brief lust affair with AOC, although the obsession with her boyfriend's feet was a little much.

I'm waiting for someone to discover that he's not even a citizen. The would be the one thing that might get McCarthy to give him the boot since the Constitution requires that Congresspersons be a US citizen for 7 years... assuming that the Republican party is still recognizing the US Constitution by then.

I hadn't known until the other day that he even claimed to be Jewish. Think about it -- it's unlikely that a Jew would have the last name Santos ("saints").
Yeah, I've started to wonder about that, too -- although I wouldn't expect that claiming to be gay would help him in that particular district (as opposed to one in Manhattan or inner Brooklyn or Queens), so claiming to be gay for the sake of his ambition wouldn't make sense.
I also note that the statement from Santos's "lawyer" referred to him as Latino. I think that's the first time I've seen that term applied to a Brazilian-American; it's usually all about Spanish-speakers or their descendants.

Mike Lee is seeking to overtake Ted Cruz as the most-disliked Senator.
