I just don't buy it. She's a 47 year old congresswoman that didn't realize the gravity of the Holocaust until she went to the museum!? I learned at a young age the atrocities that the Nazi's did prior and during WWII, and it's been taught in school, shown in numerous movies and documentaries, etc., and I didn't need to visit a museum to realize it. If she is really this ignorant and uneducated, she should be removed from office (well, she should be removed from office even if she knew it and promoted it as a means to discredit the mask wearing policies.) All I can think is she must have gotten some serious pressure from her party to "apologize" because she's never done that before with all of her incendiary comments and conspiracy theories she's promoted.

It has to do with where she came from. A, she's not sorry, B, She was taught by the racists she grew up with that Hitler was not all bad and the Jews were exaggerating, C, you can't trust education, and D, she doesn't like Jews anyway and has a callous disregard for their feelings.

She's from a sub-culture that excuses, minimizes and explains away the Holocaust - and I wouldn't be surprised if she's an outright denier and anti-Semite.

Because she doesn't understand that she is what they (nazis) are. The "National Socialist German Workers Party" - NAZI. "National Socialism" is one concept and it is not economic socialism. "National Socialism" is white nationalism, white supremacy, the master race, building a nation based entirely on racially acceptable people to the exclusion of anyone who doesn't fit their model of whom they deem to be acceptable. Have you heard of a Party with similiar goals? Clue: They're not Democrats.

I suspect that the courts will swat this down pretty quickly....but de Santis will still have made his point with the hard core right wingers across America as he works his way toward running in 2024.

The real shame is that this is what constitutes "leadership" in these States with populist governors. It's gone from fights over school integration to fights over abortion to fights over things like "critical race theory". Rumor has it that DeSantis thinks he'd make a great President in 2025.

But, as a political commentator once said about a Southern politician... "If you think he's bad, you should see his constituents".
