And Let's not forget about the other Deplorables

Jonathan Turley has an editorial in the Wall Street Journal bemoaning the "unprecedented" and how it is a "political prosecution" and "a true abuse of the justice system".

Just a reminder: WSJ ran endless editorials in the 1990s about the Whitewater investigation and the investigations into the Lewinsky affairs. There were so many editorials in the WSJ pushing Whitewater that WSJ published a 6 volume book set containing all of their published editorials.

^^ From your keyboard to God's eyes.

I don't think DeSantis will run. It's not to his benefit to alienate that many trogs and probably end his career. They are all he has left.

I find your take interesting...I see him as another pathological narcissist and dictator wannabe who sees the path totally cleared for him to seize the obval office because of Dem lethargy in 2024 and the collapse of the Trump campaign.

I do see though the panic that Trump could form a third party.

Toad will definitely attempt that if he loses the trog nomination. He believes being President means he is above the law.

I haven't decided what I think of his chances in the primary. All this hyped-up hysteria is going to die the next time the collective press sees something shiny, and where it goes from there is vague.

Just going by social media over the last 72 hours...he is not actually surfacing at all.

I think there is no traction for the outrage over his indictment. His MAGAts might still send in $100 to pay for his legal bills, but it isn't burning up on-line.

I suspect that he is just shedding more and more suckers every moment...and maybe that is what is making the GQP'ers cry. They are worried that if the Trumpists become disaffected and inactive that they won't get them into the polling booths next year.

No matter who they throw out there.

My personal trog test group has a few who will vote for toad, but otherwise don't bother. But none of them are giving money that I'm aware of either. They seem to think that if his pecker got him in trouble, he can pay for his own damn lawyers.

That is an interesting take.

Is cheating on your pregnant wife and then trying to pay her off and then trying to claim the deduction a bridge too far for his slavish devotees?

I see that everyone on the GQP side is frantically trying to frame this as a political assassination...but except for the usual suspects, I am not seeing this gaining traction either....

Trump and republicans are doing what they do best. Never take responsibility. First, accuse the other side of what they are doing. Saying Bragg and democrats are "playing politics and trying to affect the election", is itself playing politics which puts Trump above the rule of law for the benefit of their own politics. Second, pretend you are the victim for being held accountable for your own actions. Attack the prosecutor, the media, Democrats, Biden, call it a witch hunt, boohoo everyone is out to get me. Blah, blah, blah. Poor me. Send me money.

But defend Trump on any legitimate basis, like saying he is innocent? Nope. They don't say that. Because they know he is probably guilty.

If Trump hadn't paid off a porn star and illegally laundered the money through his campaign to hide it from the public on the eve of a national election, we would not be here right now talking about this.

It's more about what they feel is legitimate to fundraise about I suppose. But then, who knows what goes through the mind of the trog. They also think that Biden has ordered the courts to destroy the toad by any means possible, and there is speculation that he will die in a cell under suspicious circumstances.

It's quite the fantasy life. It appears that they just invent scenarios and then behave as if those inventions are reality. It can be quite entertaining, but just underneath it's quite disturbing if you give it serious thought. They may sound like crazies, but that also means they will never acknowledge facts, and will never accept a legitimate verdict making the toad accountable. They'll just pretend it was injustice forced on an innocent, all the while knowing he's guilty.

The cognitive dissonance is staggering. If you ask if he did it, they'll say yes, then turn right around and say that Biden is persecuting an innocent man. There is no reasoning with that.

At the least, however, it doesn't seem like there is concrete support for dying over the toad's tiny pecker. What happens with the rest of the investigations is probably going to be different.

^^^This is EXACTLY the profile of this narcissistic sociopath I am trying to get out of my life - word for word.

I found a site on the internet that gives one instructions on how to disengage safely from a narcissistic sociopath and so far it has been excellent advice.

Maybe his "followers" need a similar instruction booklet.

The sad part is that I was warned by pretty much everyone I knew for years about this woman and I ignored all of the warnings so I understand why they can't see it.

At base, the issue is that they feel the toad is the only one who cares about how used and abused, and neglected they are. It's deeply racist - and it's exactly what they don't want to discuss. The actual grievance is that they are being forced to recognize that White people are not just more superior and special than everyone else.

If you are a redneck living in a broken-down trailer, sporadically working odd jobs for pennies, your racism is all you've got.

File under "Well, of course he did". The guy who pays underage girls for sex, who else would he hire?

Derrick Miller, a former U.S. Army National Guard sergeant who spent eight years in prison for murdering an Afghan civilian in 2010, now serves as a legislative assistant covering military policy for Florida Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz.

While on a combat mission in Afghanistan’s Laghman province on September 26, 2010, Miller shot 27-year-old Atta Mohammed in the head during an interrogation. Miller has maintained that he was acting in self-defense, alleging that Mohammed, who had walked through a defensive perimeter established by Miller’s unit, could be a threat to his unit and that he had tried to grab Miller’s weapon during the interrogation. But another National Guard member testified he heard Miller threaten to kill Mohammed if he did not tell the truth; and then sat on top of him — Mohammed was lying prone — before shooting him in the head, killing him. According to the prosecutor, Miller then said, “I shot him. He was a liar.”

Miller previously worked for Rep Louis Gohmert (R-TX). Because, of course he did.

Leslie Stahl and 60 Minutes for platforming and legitimizing Marjorie Taylor Greene.

I'm not sure what was more painful, watching Stahl pitch some softballs to MTG or watching MTG squirm and lie in her answer.

MTG: "I would definitely say so they support grooming children."
MTG: "Democrats support, even Joe Biden, the president himself, supports children being sexualized and having transgender surgeries. Sexualizing children is what pedophiles do to children.”
Stahl: “Wow”

The other thing about these interviews with MTG is how repugnant her cheerleading constituents are. As the saying goes, "If you think she's bad, you should see her constituents." The same could be applied to Gosar, Gaetz, Gohmert... Maybe we should just ban politicians whose last name starts with "G"?

^ Why isn't that slander?
It doesn't meet the legal definition. There has to be a clear malicious intent to defame with prior knowledge that one is telling lies, and then there must be harm.
