And Phyllis Schlafly was the template for female Republicans who work against their own interests. She went to Radcliffe and then she went to law school and got her JD. Then she spent her life traveling the country (with her gay son) telling women they belonged at home, they didn't need equal rights, they needed to fight against LGBT people and that women should be barefoot and pregnant except on Sundays when they needed to put on their shoes to go to church. "Do as I say, not as I do".

These celebrity-obsessed women in Republican politics today are Schlafly's inheritance. The Marsha Blackburns, the MTGs, the Boeberts... those women who are away from home, away from their families, all the while telling the rest of us to do as they say, not as they do.
