Doesn't seem to help our side, though. I love for the hypocrites to be exposed, but haters seem to mushroom -- and control of the senate.
 
Just because someone alleges something like this doesn't mean it's true... that being said, this is EXACTLY why organized religion is not part of my life. These places are littered with nothing but hypocrites. Living your life according to a predetermined outline written by someone else is not noble or righteous, it's just stupid. Why do I need an ancient book of fictional stories to determine my life's meaning? I'll live my life however I choose, and come up with my own "guess" of what the ending will be for me...

There YOU go accusing Bishop Long of being a CLOSETED homosexual and you don't know shit about his personal life. He's being accused of being something that he might not be and you ASSUME he's guilty of the accusation..Another press release stated One of the 2 Men accusing him ALSO has a history of breaking into the Bishops office..He's a THIEF...So what does that tell you about the credibility of the accuser?

Before you do a "Sherry Sherrod" on this Pastor wait and see if he's arrested and if there's ANY proof of what he's being accused of...Didn't you learn ANYTHING from the Sherry Sherrod situation?

Well he certainly deserves his day in court, but when was the last time someone homophobic was outed like this and it turned out to be totally baseless?

I can't remember. On the other hand I can remember dozens of cases where the person was clearly gay.
 
I've come to the conclusion that 95% of homophobes are self-loathing closet queens themselves. But what makes matters worse is if they build a career on gay bashing then get caught with their hands down a guy's pants.

You know these type of allegations are usually associated with White Evangelicals. Is this the first well-known instance that is associated with a Black church?

I agree with you all that people are "innocent until proven guilty."

However, in regard to the men being thieves: I was watching CNN and a person being interviewed that said that this sort of aggression is common with sex-abuse victims, particularly if it was involved with someone who everybody perceives to be innocent.

It's not my opinion, but I'm just stating an interesting observation.

I'm not sure what race has to do with it. Black people as a group are generally more religious than whites anyway, so it's hardly surprising to see this.

Actually, he's not. The guys were seventeen and eighteen when the events are alleged to have taken place. The age of consent in Georgia is seventeen. (Nevermind that one of the incidents was supposed to have taken place on the guy's seventeenth birthday. :eek: ) Bottom line--nothing of the sexual allegations are criminal. These are civil suits.
 
i always have suspicions about people
who can gather huge crowds for their public speaking about moral issues.

Example: the current pope.

Because of the possibility of a serious charge of liable, I don't think it's likely that these men would make false accusations. Of course, I have no idea whether or not the pastor is guilty, I'm just speculating.
