Are you still afloat?

I like watching The Weather Channel just because I like to travel...local TV news forecasts usually are better for finding out the actual weather. Looks like Southern California gets the worst of rain this week.

Happy birthday! Are we having cake?

Good Wednesday morning Thad, Frankie, and Paul! (*8*)

Once again the weather forecasters overwarned us. There was nothing even remotely resembling the severe weather predicted, but I did get a good rain on Sunday, which is good for my lawn and garden. On Monday all I got was a drizzle. Though it has been chilly, cloudy, and windy, and I'm looking forward to it warming up.

I had a great birthday, and spent hours on the phone talking to two cousins, one of which also had a birthday on the same day, and it was nice. The Venezuelan lady wanted me to visit her that evening for dinner, but I was late because I wanted to talk to my cousins. Speaking of her, she finally asked me if I was gay. I think she figured it out because I never made a pass at her. :ROFLMAO:

As for cake, I did get a slice of angel food cake at MCC after the service. The pastor asked whether it had any calories. I quipped, "no, it doesn't. It's devil's food cake that has all the calories!"

Hello Johnnie , it's great to know you spent a fun Birthday

How fun to have a cousin who shares the same birthday as you

I wish I had a cousin with the same birthday haha

Thanks as well for writing to me My Friend

Have a Pleasant Thursday later

Hi John!

I put details of my NYC adventure in my thread. It was a fun day but not at all as planned.

Tonight I'll be rooting for the Devils, but I won't be too upset if the Flames win. I have a Calgary Flames calendar on my bedroom door...my "Canadian boyfriend" lives in Calgary and sends me one each year. (Except the year he sent an Edmonton Oilers calendar because the Flames were sold out.)

Good Sunday morning Paul, Thad, and Frankie! (*8*)

Thad, I hope you enjoyed your hockey game the other night.

Well, I'm following up on some of the research that woman did on my ancestors, and it seems a lot of things are falling into place. Of course, I have to keep an open mind, and also my skepticism, in that I have to remember the jury is still out on things until they're proven. And I just got a message last night from someone asking about a totally different branch of the family, asking if I had a photo of a woman who was my father's cousin. What's funny is that I can see a picture of her as a young woman standing up, but I can't remember where I saw it. I couldn't find it on ancestry, so I'm going to have to search for it in a large wooden box of photos my father saved. I'm not looking forward to looking through all that for one photograph which may or may not be in there. She also asked me what I knew about the woman's son, a man I had never met, and in fact only knew of from ancestry. I'll probably point her to his obituary that I found, which had fairly extensive details, stuff about him raising beagles and going fishing and hunting, etc.

Hello Johnnie

Thanks for writing buddy

Have a pleasant new week my friend

(*8*) Good afternoon, John.

(*S*) I missed your birthday. Hope you had a happy.

Well, I am through with Amazon. After unlocking my account, they relocked it Saturday afternoon. After another several hours talking to "Customer Service?" I was informed it was not possible to restore my account and I should cancel it. How? Log in to my account and look in settings. BUT, I can't log in. They say they can't help me, and I can open a new account.

There is a question to whether the two orders I made have shipped or if the Fraud Dept. have stopped them or recalled them from the carrier. But there is no available info on this as it is in my account which can't be accessed. Their advice is to wait until Friday to see if the packages arrive. If not call them back and they will reverse the credit card, if they can, otherwise I could appeal to the card company.,

I called the manufacture of the two items. No help there. All the ordering and shipping information is handled by Amazon and I was to contact them.

I'm getting dizzy from all the run around. From now on I'll use Ebay. The prices there can be higher, but the troubles at Amazon is not worth it.

Happy Valentine's Day John! (*8*)

P.S. So sorry I missed your birthday! Hope you had a good one. (group)

Good Thursday morning RM, Gary, Loner, and Frankie, and Happy Belated Valentine's Day! (*8*)

Thanks for the Valentine's Day wishes, RM!

Gary, I don't blame you for being furious with Amazon. Unfortunately, these days big companies have the attitude of "we can do whatever the hell we want, we don't need you, but we're going to make you jump through all these crazy hoops if you need us..." I'd be done with them, too.

So far it has been a remarkably unremarkable week, with me doing just the usual things like grocery shopping and laundry. The MCC pastor has asked me to go to the church this afternoon to help move a bunch of donated items into the sanctuary from a rear house for Saturday's Yard Sale. I hope it's not going to take too long or involve too much heavy lifting. The thing is, people look at me and think I look strong and healthy, but I'm not as young as I used to be, and I get easily tired and worn out from too much strenuous activity.

The weather has been nice and dry, with generally sunny and warm days and coolish nights. But it's supposed to get warmer, and then rainy all weekend and cooler. Sort of the pattern we've been having for the last several weeks.

Hello Johnnie
thanks for writing to me

I hope you have a great Friday later

Hi John!

February is halfway over! Even accounting for Leap Day.

I'm doing a very good job of spending little until I get paid on the 21st. Don't worry, the pantry and refrigerator are stocked. The freezer is kinda bare...one TV dinner and some frozen corn.

Good Tuesday morning/afternoon Paul, Thad, and Frankie! (*8*)

Thad, I remember my days when I had to figure out expenses down to the dollar, and it sometimes got ridiculous. Like times when my money was already spent with bills before I even received my paycheck, when I could only put a couple of dollars of gas in the tank because the rest was already answered for, and the times I couldn't spend $10 to go out with friends to a bar or restaurant on a Friday night.

I had a good weekend. I actually bought a dining room table and a bicycle helmet at the MCC yard sale Saturday. My old dining room table is sagging in the middle, and I'm sure it's only a matter of time before it collapses. Sure, it was my family's dining room table when I grew up, but something's telling me it's time to let it go.

I forgot to mention that I went to a drag show at a local playhouse Saturday night for free. The tickets were something like $30 and $50, but somebody couldn't use theirs and offered it to anyone who wanted it. I really enjoyed the show, but the show was a benefit for an LGBTQ+ student scholarship fund.

Today we had what I call California weather. It started out at a chilly 48 degrees, but sunny and cloudless with low humidity, and it warmed up nicely to 72 degrees. It's supposed to be like this through Friday, only warming up gradually, and then getting a little cooler again.

Hello Johnnie thanks for writing

It looks like you had a fun weekend , now that the weather is turning more " pleasant " it must feel more " fun "

About the medicinal plants in Peruvian Jungle areas , well there's hundreds of
medicinal plants in South America
Peru isn't a huge country but it's funny to admit I've never been to Iquitos or Cuzco or Machupicchu

Anyway , I hope you have a pleasant Wednesday later buddy
