Good Tuesday morning Thad, RM, and Gary!
Pridefest went well on Sunday, with great weather for the Parade and exhibition. I went to a small "interfaith" service in an old theater, if you can call a service with MCC and Unitarian Universalists interfaith. There was a small mishap at the beginning of the parade when one of the motorcycles lost control, and a couple of people got a little banged up. Fortunately nobody seemed to be seriously injured, but the parade was delayed while paramedics had to check out a couple of people.
Other than that, the parade went well, with the usual contingents, including the LGBTQ+ public high school group, the Palm Beach County School System itself, the sheriffs, county government, local politicians, local LGBTQ+ bank employees, etc. I thought these presences spoke volumes, as in we're with you, we're not going to let a bunch of politicians in Tallahassee push us around.
The Pridefest was crowded as usual. I went around and checked out all the booths. It had been slightly cool early in the morning, but it got a bit warmer than predicted in the daytime, with temps going up into the 80s instead of the predicted 70s. I checked with the MCC booth, but they said they were covered for the day. I wanted to get some lunch there, but the food lines were ridiculously long, and the heat was starting to get to me. So I left and ate at a local restaurant in the area. It turned out there were two older gay couples sitting at a nearby table, and I found myself getting annoyed by one of the guys constantly talking.
Thad, I guess you're going to the Lalah Hathaway concert tonight and the Kelly Clarkson show Thursday. I hope you have a good time at both.
