Gary, I take it you're taking a quiet, restful day after your hectic Easter Egg delivery all over the world.

Thad, I guess you'll see how they screwed around with the Kelly Clarkson show when they air it today. I find one thing interesting in watching the clips of the old Ed Sullivan Show performances, in that you can tell they were taped live. Apparently he didn't let guests lip-synch to their records on his show. Nearly everyone did something a little different from the version of their hit songs. I even remember the Supremes doing one of their songs. They did it just like their hit record, but the recorded version was so familiar to me that I could tell they were performing it live. They did everything the same, but there was something subtle about the harmonies and vocalizations that came out different, so I could tell they were performing it for the show.

I watched the semifinal of RuPaul's Drag Race Friday night. Next week all the eliminated queens are coming back for a "Lip-Sync LollapaRuza" that should be entertaining even if you haven't been watching this season.

Gary, we had about 50% totality here, which I couldn't get too excited about, since we had a 90% total eclipse here way back when I was 12 years old. I wanted to go see it in North Florida, where they had the total eclipse, but my parents just weren't interested.

Thad, I take it that you're enjoying yourself in Nashville with Pride Night Hockey and a couple of music shows. Let us know how it went when you get back home.

Well, I'm in the market for a contractor to replace my driveway. Actually, it's not the most critical repair that needs to be done around here; after all, I can still drive over it, right? But code enforcement is on my ass about it. So it's become a pain. I've called a couple of places, and end up leaving messages in their voicemail that never get returned. And then I figured that everybody's online, so I google contractors. All of a sudden I get a bunch of calls out of the woodwork from people I haven't contacted. I figure they must have got my number from cookies or spyware, and I don't trust people like that. So I'm waiting to hear from a couple of people I have contacted, and I'll just wait to see what's offered. It seems I have a choice, depending on who answers and what they propose, of concrete or asphalt driveways. It seems they say concrete is more expensive to install, but it lasts longer. I'm not sure that really matters in my case, since although I'm reasonably healthy now, I doubt that I'm going to be alive after about 20 years, so it's going to be somebody else's problem anyway.

My week is going ok, would be better if I didn't have thick sinus drainage right now. Didn't sleep well last night because of it, but other than that I am having a good week.

I saw a surprisingly good concert this weekend at a fundraiser for MCC church. They had a group of professional musicians do the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber, mostly selections from Jesus Christ Superstar and Phantom of the Opera. It wasn't that well attended, but I'm sure they would have had many more people if it had been better publicized.

I'm finding it hard to get ahold of contractors for my driveway, and it's sort of like chasing ghosts. I call and my messages don't get answered, and then I get scammers trying to call. But I don't understand why people wouldn't want to return my calls, after all, it's good money. And I don't trust people who use spyware to try to snag business.
 
I could come pour oil on your driveway for half the price of those other scammers.

Sometimes I think I'd love to take advantage of the greedy. But I'm too honest.

Well, I had my cousin and her husband visit on Friday night, on their way down to getting on a cruise ship out of Ft. Lauderdale, a bit south of here. We went out to dinner. I wanted to take them to a Cuban restaurant, but I ended up taking them to another restaurant that was a bit closer to where this elderly woman in her 80s lived. It seems that my cousin had a college friend who wanted them to check up on her, as she was a girlfriend of her father's who recently died, and it sounds like she has one foot in the grave, and the other on a banana peel, yadda, yadda, yadda. The woman seemed OK, and they picked her up to have dinner with us. But all that made them do a lot of driving in Friday evening traffic, and being from out of town, I'm sure my cousin and her husband didn't realize how big this area is. Oh well, it was good to see them, even if it was only for a couple of hours.

I'm still trying to see what I can do about my driveway. I finally was able to talk to a contractor on the phone, and when I described what I wanted to do, he gave me a price range which was MUCH more than I was willing to pay. So I'm thinking that I should scale it back, and look for somebody willing to patch the driveway, and maybe put sealant on it. After all, I really just want to maintain it, not upgrade it.

I've noticed that I haven't been in the best mood lately, I think it's because a bunch of little things seem to be piling up on me. And I've been having a lot of confused and muddled dreams. I wouldn't exactly call them nightmares, since they hardly even seem coherent, but I wake up feeling a bit downbeat and lost.

Well , to tell you the truth life has been challenging and stressful since March ( My grandma was in hospital for 2 weeks , the former time she had been there for 2 months back in 2019 )
My mum , me , and my Grandpa are the only ones who live along with her , my grandma has three sons who live in other towns , most of them are cold
( only one of them came to see her in hospital ) Those men only support with some money to pay the maid , we've hired a lousy nurse to look after grandma but it seems she would need to be fired by the end of this month since she has had tantrums yelling at my grandpa for no reason ...
My schedule to look after my Grandma is from midnight til 7 am ( I'm used to that since late 2019 )

All in all , I've been disappointed and hurt by relatives since I was a kid ; however , since grandma got sick ( I completely got disappointed by witnessing their cold and careless behaviour toward my grandma , two of them have even expressed she'd better rest in peace for once and for all back in 2019 , knowing them , my impression is that they are impatient for her to kick the bucket , so they can take over this house as it's my grandma's property and a will was never made )

It's a very chaotic situation , I only hope to be free from this family someday ...
