Happy Sunday!

I'm enjoying a very lazy Sunday morning here in Las Vegas. I'll head out later to eat and sightsee, probably to see the bird sanctuary at the Flamingo

Plants and gardens are quite different here! Two photos from the gardens at the West Sahara Library:

Good Monday morning Thad, Frankie, Loner, Andrew, and Paul! (*8*)

Thad, I hope you're doing well after returning from Las Vegas. Those plants in your photos are similar to some things we have in Florida. The top pic is lantana, which grows well here. And the bottom pics looks like something called Texas sage, which you sometimes see here. I guess the difference is that out there, they're limited to drought tolerant plants, which precludes many things that grow in wetter climates.

I had a busier week than usual. The MCC food pantry got a new shipment from their supplier, so they're well-stocked for right now. I think there will be a greater demand than usual, the way things are going right now.

One thing I did last week was to have an online hypnosis regression session, which I hope will help me out with some issues. I did get a lot of answers, but it's probably going to take months to assimilate all the information and figure out what it means. That's all I'm going to say right now, since I know it's controversial, and it will take time to see the results.

On Friday morning I saw a lawn maintenance service in my front yard. I'm sure that somebody had to pay them, probably that lady from across the street that was pulling the vines down off the house. I guess that's a nice gesture, but I have my reasons for not using them. I noticed that their weed whacker had partially cut into the bark of my frangipani/plumeria, and if it completely encircles the plant, it will kill it. Fortunately they didn't touch my back yard, where I have several young fruit tree saplings that I'm trying to get established. A lawn maintenance service would kill them.

Hey John. It's going down to 49 on Halloween. I may have to rethink my costume. :ROFLMAO:

Hello Johnnie I hope that the online hypnosis flows well

Thanks for writing

Have a pleasant New Week buddy

Good Saturday morning, RM, Frankie, and Dan! (*8*)

Dan, that's one cute little devil there. He's someone who could definitely make me break my vows. That is, if I had made any. #:>:-<

Frankie, I hope you had a good Halloween, and you've got a great weekend coming up.

RM, it's sure amazing how oblivious most handsome young men are about who-- or what-- is lusting after them.

We're finally getting a cool down here. It's 59 degrees right now, which means the heat season is over, and that should end the worrying about hurricanes until next year. It'll be pleasantly warm today, going up to only 80 degrees, with much lower humidity. I think I'm going to do some gardening work once the sun comes up. I finally was able to mow my backyard Thursday afternoon, a day that wasn't raining, or too hot, or that I had something else to do. With the cooler and drier weather, I shouldn't have to mow too often.

Hello Johnnie i also hope you had a great Halloween

Have a Fun and Cool November

Good Friday morning, Frankie! (*8*)

I went ahead and got vaxxed on Wednesday, getting my Covid and flu shots for the winter. This was my 8th Covid shot. I'm getting a little older, and I figure that I don't need to take any chances. I did get Covid last year, but it was like a bad cold, and maybe the shots helped keep the symptoms relatively mild.

The MCC Food Pantry had a distribution day yesterday, and I helped out. Somebody screwed up the schedule, and had a distribution ON Thanksgiving Day, and I said that ain't happening. So they fixed the dates. The guy in charge wasn't there because his husband was in the hospital with some serious issues, apparently he had a stroke or something. I hate to say it, but when an elderly person suddenly has major health complications, it usually means they're not long for this world.

Hi John! Happy weekend!

I went to Washington DC Tuesday for a show. Bright Light Bright Light (my favorite musician, who's really Rod Thomas) and Cameron Hawthorn performed at The Pie Shop, a performance venue and bar above a beloved bakery. I've seen BLBL before and have often written about him. The audience was about 50 people. Apparently all gay men. How did THAT happen?
Anyhow, lots of dancing, good music, a really good time.

Happy weekend!

Hello Johnnie I Hope you have a pleasant New Week

Thanks a lot for writing buddy

Florida faces a ‘falling iguana advisory’

Iguanas begin to “freeze” and fall from trees when temperatures dip to 40 degrees (4 Celsius) or below, according to Kleebauer, a forecaster with the National Weather Service’s Weather Prediction Center. Those temperatures were widespread upstate in Florida on Tuesday.
“Iguanas, because of their reptilian nature, they go into this kind of survival mode, and their system basically shuts down,” he said. “They’re not used to those types of temperatures. They only see those only a handful of times a year, if that.”

Houston, we have a problem. My tabby cat has figured out how to turn on the small space heater in my room. She's done it 3 times so far. It's her favorite place to be when it's chilly.

Good Monday evening Dan, Frankie, and Thad! (*8*)

Dan, cats are smart, and I'm not surprised that she figured out how to turn on your space heater for her comfort. I once had a cat and a cockatiel. I put a partition at my bedroom door to keep the cat out. It was one of those folding Japanese panel things. But I positioned it so you would have to pull it out, not push it in, to get in the room. It took her about a year, but she figured out how to defeat it, when one night she greeted me on my bed.

As for iguanas, I don't know if it quite got cold enough to make them fall out of the trees, though it certainly did in your neck of the woods. But I haven't heard of iguanas in Central Florida yet.

Thad, so you're in Cleveland again. I think you spend almost as much time there as you do at home. Maybe you should establish a second residence there.

Well, I finally did the last fertilization of my fruit trees on Saturday, which I should have done no later than early October. In fact I wondered if I should skip the application since it's so late in the year, and the cooler weather in winter makes even the tropicals go somewhat dormant, though they're still green. Except for my sugar apple, which, although tropical, is still deciduous.

Hello Johnnie , thanks for writing , I hope you are doing fine

Have a pleasant weekend , enjoy your day Buddy

Hi John! It's Saturday.
I spent yesterday in the DC with JUB's NotHardUo1. We enjoyed a hotel breakfast, roamed thru two Smithsonian museums, and had dinner. I took the late bus home
So today I did basically nothing. Light decluttering, but didn't leave the house. There's tomorrow for that. I need laundry soap before I can do laundry, anyway. Can you do laundry with shampoo?
Hope your weekend is going well!
