are democrats going to seize the moment?

And I ask again.

Where are the Leaders on the side of democracy?

Where are Obama, Harris, Biden?

Why is there still this weird pact among the Dems that they can't criticie a sitting president?

Those days are past. Trump did it all the time.

It is fucking time to stop pretending like it is business as usual and to sit back when the actual future of democratic rule is under attack.
devil's advocate, they have families to protect from the lunacy and violence of the right. they've been silent for years and STILL "Michael Obama" is trending on twitter every 5 minutes. being outspoken in the age of digital instant information can be a death sentence. 5 minutes and I'm sure I could find out where Obama lives and where his daughters' dorms are. What could that info mean for a MAGA maniac with a chip on their shoulder?

WHich isn't to say I don't share the frustration at their cowardice.

I get it. We saw the assassination of a Dem lawmaker and the beating of Paul Pelosi and torching of the Dem governor's house.

But if all the Dems just cower like the German left did after 1933...their lives and the safety of their families may be in greater danger than if they do their job, find an actual position for their voters to rallyu around and focus on creating real leadership.

Otherwise, they will all end up beingtoken seat fillers like the 'opposition' parties in rrrXXZia, Hungary, Turkey etc. etc. And I think a lot of them would be quite happy to have that gig.

This is why all the legacy Dems need to fuck off and retire. If there is any of them that haven't figured out that a 'deal' means nothing to Trump and the GQP it is time for them to leave Washington.

It is clear they will cave again.

Kaine:

"We're just asking if we do a deal, please Mr President don't sign the deal and then immediately start taking away funds, rescinding agreements that you just made yesterday. A deal should be a deal."

Schumer has to fucking go.

Hakim Jeffries at the last moment.

On a related note...

Remember earlier this week that the State of NY had arrested a Jan 6th insurrectionist who had been pardoned by Trump? The guy who had threatened to kill Jeffries on Monday while Jeffries was giving a speech in NY?

The insurrectionist made bail and is apparently back on the streets.

Chuck Schumer will introduce a bill to extend SNAP funding "to make sure no child goes hungry," thru the shutdown, despite Trump “choosing to have kids go hungry."

Time for MAGA to go on record as opposing SNAP, even though there is a mem orandum that guaranteed it through any shutdown.

Well here's a direction Blue States might want to start floating. Soft Secession. Texas has threatened it repeatedly in the past...maybe time for the states that form the backbone of the US economy to think about functioning more as power players instead of a pocketbook for all the red states.

I've been wondering why, since the White House has been defunding blue state projects, why they don't declare a moratorium on remits to the Federal government until they get their money.

I would think that the blue states should be able to hold back the money that was already committed to their projects, but I guess there must be some fear of poking the bear.

With a notable couple of exceptions, they're generally pussies who think that there's still "norms".

Announced this morning:

Nancy Pelosi announces she will not seek reelection to Congress after nearly 40 years in Washington

An interesting note- a couple of weeks ago a State Senator, Scott Wiener, announced that he would primary Pelosi. Democrats haven't had good luck with Congressmen named "Wiener/Weiner".

This is Scott Weiner- he's well-liked in his district but he might have some baggage.

If they do, this will be the end of the Democrats in Washington.

It makes me physically ill that there is a possibility they will once again cave to the GQP and try to pass off a promise for a vote on healthcare as a victory.

The US is really a lost cause.

At this point, it must be clear to everyone that the Dems in the Senate...owned by the same people as the Repubs in the Senate...are simply colluding with the GQP and Trump.

There is no other answer.

And if Schumer sails through this to hang onto his position as Minority 'Leader', there can be zero doubt.
