Yep, it's a country...actually a sovereign NATION.I had no idea Tonga is a country LOL! I always thought it was under Hawaii or something
Paces like Gibraltar, Western Sahara, Hong Kong, Bermuda, etc. are often called "countries" but they're dependencies or colonies, not nations...in fact Hong Kong isn't even THAT, it's no more than an autonomous part of China, or some are actually part of a larger nation. If you visit French Polynesia [Tahiti etc.] it's not a nation, you actually are visiting FRANCE and you need a visa for there, if applicable.
For that matter, Scotland is usually called a "country" but it is NOT a nation. At least not yet.
I think there's only about 20,000 people in Tonga...and they have a KING.
They're not the smallest sovereign nation. Not even close. The smallest sovereign nation has a population of less than 1,000...and is an absolute dictatorship...and is basically a medieval walled city-state...with more world influence than even most of the Western Europe nations considered individually. Whoever names it first wins...absolutely...nothing - LOL.
