I sent my application to UCLA

... and I'm bringing my iPhone too! Discuss!

Re: I sent my application to UCLA

I truly want to hear her learned dissertations in political science, with the greatest interest in her epiphany.

HEY CUNT, EPIPHANY THIS! Valley girls should have their cunts filled with fast-seting concrete.

Re: I sent my application to UCLA

It is a valid request.

Libraries are for study, not for socializing

If you've been to any college campus library you'd realize that libraries are not for studying. And if you'd like to make a request at least do it without ineptly stereotyping and belittling an entire race, especially when you go to a school where the majority of the people is composed of that race.

Re: I sent my application to UCLA

Usually in their or their friends' dorm or the student center. There are too many people in the UC libraries during finals to get anything done, any college student knows this.

Re: I sent my application to UCLA

^ It's pretty true. I just finished with all my finals and could not study at my school's library. The mass of people, just the sound of everyone breathing and shuffling their papers were driving me nuts.

It's okay to go up to someone and tell them to be quiet. But to go home and make a youtube video to not just rant, but made fun of an entire race. Bitch made me want to yank out heir bleached hair.

Re: I sent my application to UCLA

I think she should go back to her teachers and demand to better prepared for the world.

I hope the entire campus sees this. I also hope and future employer or graduate school sees this, too.

Re: I sent my application to UCLA

^^^Yeah, she's going to be really sorry someday she posted her imbecility for all the world to see.

...oh, who am I kidding, she'll probably marry a rich husband and end up on one of the Real Housewives shows.

Re: I sent my application to UCLA

^ Or a member of congress.

Re: I sent my application to UCLA

You all seem to be attacking the messenger instead of addressing the problem -- Anti-social people annoying others and misusing public places.

Libraries are taxpayer-funded public places. Keep the Noise Outside.

Who's the messenger? and what's the message?

Your lack of ability to discern between merely a "message" to be quiet and a message laced with racial slurs and extreme ineptitude, stereotyping all Asians as rude un-American people because all of them talk on their phones in the library and don't know how to do anything, worries me.

You might believe that. But I'm sorry for all those people who go to your library and suffer because of that mistaken belief.

Re: I sent my application to UCLA

But it’s true. A lot of Asian people, especially Chinese (in general, but not all), are fucking rude.

This was told to me by several CHINESE friends who can't stand it either. It makes all Asians look bad.

My (white) friend lived in China for 13 years and adopted two kids there, and she understands enough of the language to know what people are saying, and she had to constantly listen to people make terribly racist comments about her quite openly and loudly. This was especially hard on the kids. People would pull them aside on the street and say to them (they were only 5) "Is this your mommy?" they'd say yes, to which the ADULT would respond, "No, it isn't. She isn't Chinese. Where is your real mommy?"

Can you imagine someone doing that in America? They'd lose their teeth.

But when you call them out on it, YOU’RE the racist. Fuck that. Racism works both ways.

If you don't like people calling you on your shit, be a better person. Screaming on your cell phone in the Library isn't polite. Spitting EVERYWHERE like you own every square inch of the sidewalk, isn't polite. Cutting your toe nails on the buss isn't polite. Throwing your trash all over the god damn street isn't polite.

Go to ANY China Town and prove me wrong. I dare you.

But you won’t. It’s easier to toss around the word 'racist' than admit that, in the mass of blonde hair and valley-girl speak, she has a point.

PS: "Ching-chong, ping-pong" That's basically what Chinese sounds like to non-Chinese speakers. Not just white folks, either. Go anywhere in the world and ask someone to mimic Chinese language. That's what they will say! Boo fucking hoo if you don't like it. Ask a non-English speaking Chinese person to mimic English. Guess what? It's the same thing in reverse. I don't cry about it.

Re: I sent my application to UCLA

[BearBoi] Of course I've seen the "ching chong" representation as long as I've been alive, but I'm curious, what is the phonetic equivalent in Chinese for "imitating an English speaker"? Just curious, because I've never seen it before. Is it also said as "ching chong" for stereotypically imitating English? I'm also curious whether it's Chinese, or English, or some other language, which has the most different phonemes in it?

What happens when the smog clears over southern California? U cc C xx L.A.

Anyway, good luck with your application. Two people I know who went there years ago, had great things to say about that School.

Re: I sent my application to UCLA

Someone please explain to me how is it bad to have close knit families? That idiot girl went on and on about that? With all the broken families and children out of wedlock destroying public schools, I guess you can sign me up in the Asian category.

And also, when did Asians have the monopoly on being noisy assholes in the library?

Re: I sent my application to UCLA

So, Pat, when are you going to stop dancing around the fact that the woman is making blatantly racist statements in her video?

Hehe, the school I used to go to would be open for 24 hours from mon-fri two weeks before finals. They were mainly used for playing tag and making sexual animal noises ^-^

Back to the topic on hand, I agree. I think the girl should've gotten some ear plugs or brought her music player with her. I'm sure UCLA has ear plugs in their student store....they should.
