Frame 98- No disrespect was intended, Soilwork. My main point was that the technology along does not in itself change the nature of the subject matter and the working environment. On set relationships should basically be the same regardless of the time period or equipment used. I believe that today's professional porn is too clinical lacking the natural texture and sexual tension of real sex. It is all to programmed and scripted. The bodies generally all look the same unless you view a face, and cock also have a sameness about them. Older Falcon and Brentwood films are a perfect example was the complete difference of texture and tension. As a result I have not purchased a porn film, gay or straight in over 15 years. And I have a collection of over 1,000 films from the period before 1990. I am really sorry if any of my remarks here offends anyone but some major elements are missing from modern day porn, gay and straight.

I dunno... I agree there's a lot of sterile porn out there but there's quite a bit of good stuff out there that DOES have good sex and good chemistry, too. I do try to pair my guys up well and match them with scene partners they're going to like so I do get good chemistry.

But yeah there's something to be said for that old style hand held back room stuff.

If the actors appear bored even if they have great looks, hot bodies, and huge cocks, then I am going to get bored. I mean I agree with you... I've seen so many boring, repetitive, "going through the motions" scenes and it's painful to watch. I've seen some horrible, boring porn that feels like I'm watching a sausage maker. One of the reasons I always liked Titanmen was that their policy against working with straight men or "gay for pay" guys meant that it was all gay men... we do our best to cast men who are actually in to each other. We cast men who want to fuck and I expend a lot of energy creating that Sexual Safe Space where guys can and do find a good sexual chemistry that they can thrive in.

People ask me all the time if they can come and visit the set and I always say "no." I don't allow any non-crew people to sit there and watch... it creeps out the performers, it ruins that delicate balance of that Sexual Safe Space and it makes the guys feel like they're performing animals in a zoo. It takes a while to create the proper environment which is why we all come to Palm Springs and stay together in the same house, have movie nights, hang out by the pool, take part making dinner together... it's like Gay Porn Summer Camp and that's all a huge part in making sure that the sexual chemistry as well as that "male bonding" aspect is there.

Without it you get the sausage factory where the guys look more interested in their cell phones and watching themselves on the monitor.

We still have to cover all the bases... sucking, fucking, different positions, showing the customers what they want to see... but it's got to look and feel real.

Another reason I was excited to work at Titan was that they take their time. We don't release 5 scenes per week. We release 1 scene per week and it's a good one. We have 20 years of content for our members to see so they're not going to get bored and they're not going to have to search through 500 boring scenes to find the good handful among the chaff.

it's hardly "greed." If it was "Greed," the scenes would take 15 minutes, we'd shoot 4 a day and spend all our money on marketing.

My movies usually are close to 2 hours but contain 3 45-minute scenes. My newest movie has 4 scenes and clocks in at close to 2 hours and 45 minutes. But that's because we're giving the customer his money's worth and making what we think are hot movies.

What is your favorite "outtake" from a production that you've worked on?

Oh man, there are SO many great out takes we've had over my 15-year career.

I do remember when we were shooting a scene for Cocksure Men, shooting a 3-way and one of the guys was supposed to say "come over here and drop that load in my face" but he instead said "come here and take a dump in my face" and then immediately burst out laughing along with the whole crew and cast and we spent about 20 minutes trying to stop laughing.

And then there was the "Pat Bateman Gets Fucked" scene that was such a complete hot mess that we didn't even make it a real porn scene and just put up the whole train wreck complete with director's comments and all the laughing and out takes and the performers non-stop talking and.... it was hot as hell but MAN what a complete hurricane that scene was.
