Awful Music that everyone else seems to like...

It appears as though VERY FEW people on here will admit that Hip Hop and Rap are different.(But SERIOUSLY, Fergie tied into it?? What the HELL were you thinking???) But it isn't just across the border. If you listen to some of the music, you can easily tell the difference. Hip Hoppers DO NOT rap about gang ties, getting ass all the time, and many don't do product placement. All of Classifieds stuff that I have heard is hip hop, and if you ask anyone who are fans of 50 cent and the like, they'll probably tell you the same.

Anyway, just gotta add Queen. I know, I know, but it's SO OVERPLAYED!!!

Anything and everything by Nickelback and Hinder. Some of the worst music I've ever heard. Can't fucking stand that shit. Makes me want to vomit and then proceed to eat said vomit. ](*,)

Dude, Hip Hop is not a form of music.

Hip-Hop is rap, breakdancing, Dj'ing and Graffiti, the four elements that make up the culture. Rap is the actual act of spoken word poetry set to a rhythm.

Believe it or not, Soilwork, Fergie is actually Pop.

Um.. isn't she the one who talks on her records and sounds like she's complaining about hot her porridge is too cold?

I thougth that if you can't sing and just talk on your records about how expensive everything you have is, you're rap.. which my definition, apparently, is Hip Hop.

Either way, she sucks, Hip Hop sucks, Rap sucks and people who like any of the aforementioned three suck, so in the end... suckage all around.

OH, I dont' tell myself that.

It's the credo of my fan club.

Sheesh, get with the times, man.

(Dude.. chill. I dont' care if anyone here likes me or not. I joke about being "all that" and then I'm quite open about the fact that I'm a short, bald, pock-marked 38 year old guy and people who try to take me down over a flip comment about Fergie really need some better hobbies.)

I don't care for it either, but I wouldn't go as far to say it isn't music.

lol. Lord.

1. I didnt say I dont like rap music, or hip hop culture.
2. By saying hip hop is not a form of music, I wasnt putting it down.

If you rap on a song, you are doing rap music which is a part of hip hop culture. Hip hop itself is not in fact a form of music, but rather the combination of Rapping/Mc'ing, Dj'ing, Graffiti, and Breakdancing, the four elements that make up said culture. What's so difficult about this concept?

Did I SAY that rapping is not a form of Hip Hop???? I thought I had made my explanation when I talked about the LYRICS!!!! And there is another difference I can think of between Hip Hoppers and Rappers, Rappers really only do work with other artists in the genre, while Hip Hoppers do it all around(such as Classified with Jordan Croucher, or Chad Thatcher.)

So ok.. if Rap is hip hop then what is hip hop that isn't rap?

I mean... all those hip Hop "artists" out there who aren't doing Rap, DJ'ing, Graffitti or Break DAncing... what are they doing?

you can't have it all ways.

WHAT IN THE BLOODY HELL DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND ABOUT WHAT IM SAYING????

Jesus christ. Classified isnt a hip hopper, he is a rapper. Rap is not a form of Hip Hop music, it is rap music, period. Hip Hop is the fucking Culture, not a form of music. shit.

If its not one of the 4 elements, its not hip hop. Graffitti is hip hop, dj'ing is hip hop, break dancing is hip hop, rap is hip hop. However, hip hop itself is not a form of music. Its a culture.

So therefore all those Roots songs that are actually sung and not spoken aren't Hip Hop at all, whether the fans insist that it's so or not. Got it.

Roots? The group?
If thats what ur meaning, they always have Black Thought rapping on their songs, so yes they are in fact part of the Hip Hop culture and still rap music.

HAHA.

Well. you need to get together with other fans of The Roots who get all huffy when you call their music Rap and they insist that it's "HIP HOP" and not rap.

I've had 1000 different answers when I ask people what the difference is between rap and hip hop which leads me to believe that the fans are all full of shit and just winging it.

I had someone insist that Vanilla Ice was rap becuase he's "corporate" and Eminem is "Rap" becuase he's from da hood. To me they both sound the same.

They are both rap Jasun. Vanilla Ice, wack tho he may be, rapped. Eminem, from the D, and wack now because he got corny, is still a rapper. Rap is one of the 4 elements. So yes, they are part of Hip Hop culture, but that in itself doesnt make Hip Hop a form of music. And I agree with u that most fans are full of shit and just winging it.

I forgot about the Beatles as well. I ask anyone to listen to Come Together and tell me they like it without lying. AWFUL. John Lennon in general gets on my nerves, as does Elvis Presley, completely overrated.

Paris Hilton's stuff isn't really music, so it doesn't belong in this thread, it is just painful noise... :P

OMG, Thank You!, The Beatles are the most overrated band of all time!, I Hate Them With The Biggest Passion!, I Do Like John Lennon As A solo Artist tho!

I'm sorry but I don't see what's so hot about Akon and T-Pain. I think they are two of the most annoyingly overrated artists in the industry now. Jessica Simpson, Clay Aiken, Tom Jones, and Diana Krall = NOT HOT!

As far as rap is concerned, much of what is getting played on the radio is garbage. Some of the best rappers/Hip-Hop artists receive little to no airplay. If rappers who made conscious music (or music with substance) received more exposure, radio playlists would be much better (and the genre as a whole would probably be seen in a much better light).
