Although i often go to the likes of Prince or Madonna for easier listening my all time favorite has been for over 5 years and will be forever is...

Patti Smith's Horses is an Amazing mixture of proto-punk and spoken word. The songs are so emotionally powerful in away that was totally revolutionary. She didn't sing about love. She told stories. Her use of the English language is more lethal than than a knife and her backing band is a perfect backdrop. She rewrites and reworked classics like "Land of 10,000 dances" and "Gloria" while coming up with classics like the lesbian suicide story of "redondo beach" or the cry of the middle class heard in "Free money" or the the beautiful tribute to Jimi Hendrix "Elegie" Its a classic. The cover image of an androgynous patti and the power of her unpretty but poetic voice was a shock of the times. Her power has changed my life forever.

Help Me Mary is amazing (Weave my disgust into fame, And watch how fast they run to the flame) but so are all the tracks on that album glad she re released it and is doing shows with the album all the way through just a bitch Im 1000's of miles away from any of the venues.

Exile for me is a total classic and should be considered so it is a real shame it is greatly over looked as she never had a radio hit.
