Best Buddies Play Hard

What a fantastic story. ..| The ending of the story knocked the wind out of me when I read it, and I was more than a little choked up reading it. I shed a single tear for the realities of Kevin's plight and the plight of so many young people driven to suicide by a society too stubborn to accept them. #-o While Kevins situation was unique, the end result was the same, and it's a profound tragedy in every sense of the word.

Thank You Neil,

for sharing with us this amazing, heartfelt story.
:=D: :gogirl: ..| :kiss: (*8*) :D

I'll second, third, and Fourth!, ALL of that!! (*8*) :D ..|

I had been reading Watching Brad again and just found this. It deserves a bump up so that others will get a chance to read it too. I really enjoy everything that you write and hope that you can get some of this published so you can be rewardsed for giving all of us this enjoyment.:D

Wow, thank you. I wasn't aware you could bring stories back from the Archives.

Oh I am glad I am not the only one re-reading Watching Brad. Actually I just started re-reading Taking Care of Jason now as well. This one was so sad but I loved it too.

I just found this thread. The story was amazing and it sure brings out yer feelings reading it. Powerful. Just powerful. Yer a real talented writer man. Wow, just wow. I kinda wish it wouldn't have ended the way it did, poor Kevin.

Truly a wonderful story. Glad it got bumped back up the list :D

Wow, Neil, I don't know how I managed to miss this one before. This was one of the best stories I have read in a long time. Very touching, and very moving. You handled it beautifully.

Wish it didn't end the way it did though.

Almost perfect....especially the ending.
I guess the best reward and biggest success for a writer is that your readers would replay the story in their heads time and time again, feeling the emotional impact as if they are reading it for the first time...|

Thanks for your continued comments and suport. I haven't reread this story since I wrote it. It was too hard to write it in the first place. I'm sure it would tear my up inside again.

Life isn't all peaches and cream, boys. Sometimes it sneaks up on you and bites your ass.

There are too many young people in this world who are going through the same thing these characters do. I can only hope that this story gives them the strength and courage to write a different ending in their own lives.

That was so upsetting that it actually physically hurts.

I was praying for a happy ending, and I thought it was on the way, too, with Marty looking like he might end up gay and with Kevin...

Why did you do that, Kevin!? You could have had a nice life... The suicide is supposed to happen while you're depressed, not when you've got over it!

Aw damnit!

:(

Thank you very much for those kind words. I'm rather proud of this story. And don't concern yourself about crying. I'm sure I cried a lot more as I was writing it. There were many times when I had to leave the keyboard just to compose myself enough to continue.
