Biden Vs Trump The Debates. [First Presidential Debate - Sep 29]

What's sad is that over at right wing websites, right wingers are saying Trump interrupting all the time is a sign of strength.

Good god, Trump was so obnoxious.

Trump already has their vote. Did his "obnoxious" performance tonight garner him more than his loyal 43% though? I don't think so. Biden didn't really help his case though either, but if someone is truly undecided at this point, would they look at Trump's performance as "strength" or as just more chaos?

I watched the debate but walked away several times, but still saw a big part of it. I thought that Trump did better than I expected him to do. It didn't change my mind, I am still for Biden, but I doubt any Trump supporters changed their minds either. Although this was contentious, the Democratic primary debates were contentious too. This was worse, but I expected that.

I was legitimately pissed off at this debate tonight because it was a sh*t show and in a bad way. I thought Chris Wallace did a terrible job moderating and if I were him, I would have gone as far as to have Trump's mic cut. If you aren't going to agree to the rules of the debate after four or more warnings, than it's time to cut the mic.

Trump's plan was to throw a bomb into every answer Joe did to waste time so that nothing of substance got discussed and he got away with it because there was nothing of substance behind any of Wallace's admonishments.

George Stephanopoulos said it was the worst Presidential debate he ever saw in his life, and I would concur it was with mine, as well.

Buy a Brown Shirt and hope you're :white" enough.

I'm joking and kinda tipsy, but that shit is actually very serious. Hitler rose to power by sending out his thugs to cause violence, then claiming to be the only one who could stop it - and he was, because he started it in the first place.

I will be absolutely surprised if Proud Boys aren’t at polling stations in November because of Trump tonight.

^ It was a stunt by Trump to take the talking points of the debate away from substance and put it on his presence. He did the same thing with Hillary...stalking her from behind while she spoke. That's all everyone talked about after that debate with her, and his interruptions and intimidation tactics will be all that anyone talks about after this one. It's all about the the show, the performance. He accomplished what he set out to do...get publicity and have people talking about him. I don't think it will work to his advantage this time though, at least hope not.

I actually get physically ill watching and/or listening to him so I appreciate the commentary.

I might tune in at the beginning. But honestly, I don't know if my nerves can take much of it. I'm sure the good parts will be rebroadcast ad nauseam tomorrow. But if Biden rips Trump a new asshole right at the beginning I might stick with it.

This is a mess. I'm turning it off before I throw up.
I have no doubt this is the most grueling and horrific thing I've watched on TV in my lifetime, which did not involve people or animals being killed or tortured.

I am not sure if I have the stomach for the other two presidential debates. Every debate I was ever aware of, before the ones in 2016, each candidate showed at least some respect toward the other.

They need to turn Trump's microphone off when it's Joe's turn to talk. The interruptions are ridiculous and unprofessional. (but, when has Trump ever been professional? )
I was thinking the same thing, too, many times. "Why doesn't he just turn off the mike so that Biden can actually respond?" Apparently the bipartisan Debate Commission doesn't permit this in their rules of debate.

SAD.

I read the aftermath. Biden lost his temper a couple of times, referring to Trump as "this clown." While true, it wasn't helpful. But I didn't see the rest of it. Just read the NY Times synopsis. Trump sounded like he was constantly losing his shit (and he is). Wouldn't condemn White Supremacists and even sent out a "stand by" message, as in a "call to arms."
People have already decided who they're voting for, for the most part. A few stragglers, but not a substantial amount, methinks.

To be fair, these were the best parts of Biden. I can't imagine being in the same room with this man and not losing my temper. I understand this is a Presidential debate and we want our President to be composed, but Trump doesn't play that way. And Biden could've been a lot more assertive with Trump in a composed manner, but I wish he would have gone a little further than he did. Trump is a fucking fascist, we shouldn't be talking nice about them or to them.

I'm going to get a lot of hate on this.

After the debate, I'm glad it wasn't a woman that won the dem nomination. It's time we admit the truth on this: Trump has this macho bullying thing that attracts his supporters so much. He would have made any of the dem female candidate look weak simply by hovering over her and not let her talk. Yes, right wingers actually think such obnoxious behavior is a sign of strength.

You will get “hate” because you’re saying that a woman in this situation would be a victim because they are a woman.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying whether we like it or not.

Whether you like it or not, a lot of people still believe a woman is somehow weaker than a man. And Trump knows how to amplify people's biases, including their deep inner sexist attitude.

Have you been watching the news regarding reactions in undecided voters? More undecided voters thought Trump won the debate simply because he kept obnoxiously talking over Biden. And I thought Biden dealt with it pretty darn well.

Remember how the crowds went wild when Trump called Clinton things like "nasty woman" and such?

I'm not delusional enough to think most people are not sexist. Because they are. And whether we like it or not, going up against Trump being female IS a liability. Trump knows how to rile up the inner sexism in people.

Edit.

And you, sir, have fallen into right winger trap of demonizing the word "victim". Why is the word victim such a dirty word nowadays? Let's call it like it is. If someone gets beaten up, he's a victim. And back in 2016, Clinton was a victim of Trump riling up all the latent sexism in people.

You seem to be confused with being a victim and victimhood.

Edit again.

And since apparently I'm unknowingly insulting people who don't agree with me, please let me know if anything in my post is insulting. I tried my best not to insult. Trying to get my non-PC points across.

You are saying I am falling into a right wing trap when you are saying you are glad it wasn’t a woman because they are a woman, there by perpetuating the idea that women are weaker yourself. You are doing that, not me. I am sure there are plenty of women candidates that can handle him. I mean you say this yet he made a lot of men look pretty weak in 2016 when it came to the other Republican candidates, so it clearly isn’t a gender issue.

Don’t perpetuate sexist ideas and try to put it on me that I am falling for this right wing crap.

Regardless of how you think of me, I want a dem to win this time. And if that means not giving him another woman so he can rile up people's latent inner sexism, so be it.
