Big Brother 13

Did Julie specifically say top ten or jury when she explained the key? Because jury starts at top nine as long as Big Brother keeps out that final three shit that unfortunately has become a mainstay on Survivor.... or maybe Chenbot just malfunctioned. It's happened before.

I'm still very far behind on all this... real life being hectic and things but really from what I can glean from the bits and pieces I've seen... I can't fucking understand why everyone seems to care about the "golden key." Do they realize 4 eliminations isn't really that many? And that an even better way to guarantee they make it 4 weeks is just not getting nominated for the next 3 times. That way you get to stay around and you get an ally and secondary target when this breaks down to singles.

Also as I expected Dani is far better at this without her father around.

Dani is playing the best game of all the vets right now and probably the best in the house thus far.

At this point we have Team Vet (Brenchel, The Homophobe and His Twit) vs Team Newbie (Dom/Cassi) and a bunch of floaters (Kalia/Lowan/Shelly/Adam/Danielle).

And that has me very worried for my favorite alliance (Dom/Cassi/Lowan). With so many people throwing it next week -- or just mysterious in their motivations -- Dom or Cassi HAVE to win HOH to guarantee their safety, flip the house, and rally the floater-newbies back to their side. If Brendan or J&J (or Porsche if she survives) win HOH, they're determined to evict Dom or Cassi.

Dom and Cassi keep thinking they have the numbers on their side for HOH but 1) most of the newbies don't want to win HOH including their own alliance member Lowan which means 2) The Vets actually have more numbers playing for HOH as I demonstrated above and 3) Dom and Cassi keep talking as if that first week deal they all made to get the Vets out means anything one week later. Um hello?? You actually have to go to the newbies, corral them, point out the strategy in numbers, and convince them to stick with that plan! In fact, the newbies have never had a Newbie Meeting in...well, EVER. That doesn't bode well for Dom and Cassi's Grand Plan.

They're acting as if everyone is still voting out Porsche and that's not a guarantee anymore. They don't seem to realize that Shelly/Kalia/Adam have already made other plans.

As Daniele will probably say when she makes it to the finals: "Amateurs." :##:

Yeah she did. And the houseguests have said Top 10 repeatedly in conversations since then. Which again begs the question...what about that fourth key? Cuz giving out a golden key at week four is pointless since anyone surviving that eviction automatically makes Top 10 regardless.

There has to be something else to that Week 4 Key.

GOD I loved Libra and Keesha following Jessie's eviction. That was my favorite season of all time.
I didnt know you liked Libra too! You are my destiny. I was the only Libra supported back then. Everyone else hated her and thought Dan was so hot.

^^ I love Dan (sorry) but I also enjoyed Libra especially when she and Keesha refused to back down to crazy Michelle going buckwild after Jessie's eviction.

When Dan/Memphis/Keesha/Libra/Renny formed that alliance to take out Jessie, I was ecstatic and they became my favorites.

I wish Libra were as hilarious for her entire stay as she was in her last week, but other than that I loved her. LOOK IT UP!

GODDESS.

Kalia is talking to Lowan and making it sound like she's definitely voting to keep Keith. God I need to see DR's bad! Kalia/Shelly/Adam always say one thing to Dom and Cassi about who they're voting out (Porsche) and another to the vets (Keith) without reporting back to one side specifically, so I have no idea how those three are actually going to swing. Shelly concerns me because she has ratted out Cassi to Rachel before.

Ha! I love that high-five Keesha and Libra did when Michelle won HOH. Libra was like, "Good luck with POV" and Keesha goes, "Yeah cuz we know we're going up!"

And now we're caught up. Re: Jeff Pottergate

I can say I'm honestly surprised, but not overly so by his apparent and undeniable ignorance Jeff has displayed. And I really hope not to devolve into a homophobic/not homophobic like/dislike argument because the reality of these things are neither black and white.

It's a sad reminder of the length our society really needs to come, and the generational and gender gaps that still exist when it comes to sexuality. I feel Jeff probably falls into the same category most males from his demographic do in that they are nice enough individuals who don't have an explicit problem with homosexuals but DO have a lower opinion of homosexuality as a concept and that is something that sadly will take a great length of time to change.

It doesn't make me hate him but it does put me off quite a bit. He was never my favorite not in his season even (I loved Michelle before she went crazy) but I wasn't as bothered by his return before this incident. Now I'm just ready for him to go. Every season there's an inevitable spat where someone uses a pejorative term and sect galvanizes against them. I never really hop on those bandwagons but I find something like this FAR more offensive. Because it's not just someone using a term without full appreciation of it's implications and societal charge. It's quite the opposite. It's Jeff actually showing a full knowledge of and endorsing those implications. It even goes a step further in that he implies that the belief that gays can't be trusted around kids is so logical and mainstream that if there were no camera one wouldn't even think to doubt it. And he showed that he was aware that he SHOULD be ashamed of these beliefs in his refusal to actually articulate them and his anger at Kalia when she basically demanded he articulate them.

This gave a lot of point to Kalia to me because she was pretty much in hostile territory. She was basically surrounded by veterans, in a house where they've not exactly been subtle about asserting their dominance. Not just that, but the onus was to put on her to call out a player who is strong, considerably well liked, and notably powerful in the game and she stepped up to the plate on pure instinct alone. Without a thought about the situation or who she was talking to she made it very clear that her basal reaction to hearing discriminatory comments about homosexuals was to call those comments out as baseless. Points to her. :)

The one annoying aspect was watching everyone else remain silent/amused. Jordan in particular was smirking her ass off, in a way that made me think her tiny mind grasped the greater mechanics of what was happening in a way that Jeff was unable to do at the moment because he was heated. In fact everyone in that room was clearly uncomfortable with that conversation but unwilling to weigh in because they knew doing so would in no way benefit them. It would be harmful either with their relationship with Jeff or with America depending on what side they took.

As per returnees in general: I'm on a girl power kick. Dani doesn't bother me at all. In fact I like her far more than I ever did. Jordan I'm very indifferent about. Rachel is actually the most amusing of the returnees. I mean honestly the girl is like a cartoon. She's loud grating and occasionally annoying but she's so vapid that I lack the ability to get offended by her.

^^ Everything falconfan said. As Libra would say: "LOOK IT UP!"

In their defense I don't think assuming everyone else isn't absolute morons is THAT being a rookie mistake. I mean honestly I'm shocked at the sheer number of defectors. The vets have not in any way been subtle about their alliance. This should be clear cut really at least for the first couple weeks.

Agreed. But the problem with multiple floaters is that...they all think they're the only floater. They all think someone else will do the dirty work.

This is why S6 managed to win four HOHs in a row on All Stars because so many of the returning players opted to float and were throwing comps left and right. They'd all be in the backyard complaining, "Someone needs to win HOH and put up Season 6!" but none of them were willing to do it. Only when Janelle attacked the floaters -- instead of going after Chilltown like they all thought she would -- did they fight back.

Also, it's not so much "defecting" if there's nothing to defect from. Dom and Cassi just assumed everyone was on the same page from day one and never bothered discussing it as a group again. That's...not very good planning.

OK hopefully this is a good sign. The Newbies are FINALLY having their first meeting! Dom/Cassi/Adam/Keith/Lowan all outside and talking about putting the vets up (and previously Kalia told Lowan she'd vote to keep Keith, hopefully she wasn't lying).

I agree with you but it does make me despise Jeff more. I was against him after he called Russell a faggot so easily and then acted like he was above it when it happened with someone else by saying " You should never use that word." At that time Jordan said she didn't know it was a bad thing to say but says she calls 'them' homosexuals.
I don't like that Cassi used it so casually either and Dom called her and told her she would be the most hated HG this season. Jeff said "I don't even know what that word means." Sure, Jeff.

I am so pissed at Jeff. What a stupid fucking idiot. Not only is he an ignorant, hatefull bigot but he has major anger management problems. Poor Jordan.

Who's willing to bet this conversation will never be included in the broadcast show b/c the producers will never show darlings Jeff and Jordan in a bad light?

I was thinking the same thing. BB's producer, Grodner, is a fan of the show. She drinks her own Kool-Aid. Any negative BB story is double hard for her.

No, I hated them both.

I do remember the circle jerk on Dan's ugly ass. Despite being a holy roller and a republican, his sure did have his gay fanboys on here.

I guess as long as Dan didn't quote the scriptures, gay guys here could overlook his belief system.

Dan was by NO MEANS a homophobe. He admitted that he had never really had any contact with gays before the show, and was very open-minded and asked Steven a lot of questions, and at the end didn't care at all that Steven was gay, just his friend.
