Big Brother 13

Still think Jeff is hot?!

I think he's an ignorant fuck!

I can separate the two.
I didn't say he was an intelligent guy. I don't know him personally. It's merely my opinion of his body.

But I agree that what he was leaning towards wasn't right. I took his picture down.

I have trouble separating the two...that's why I'm better off not knowing a good looking celebs opinions/views. They usually disappoint, and Jeff certainly did.

I'd like to clarify that I in no way meant to challenge you or insinuate you'd be condoning such a comment just because you found him attractive. Now that I read my reply I think it may have come across aggressively...I didn't mean to. I was angered at him when I first heard what he said.

:)

Wow. To read the comments from Jeff fans on other forums is really a sobering reminder of the kinds of people that watch this show. So many of them are claiming this ISN'T homophobic and he's "entitled to his opinion." Un-fucking-believable.

My favorite? "Free Speech! The man has a right to FREE SPEECH!"

He does have a right to his opinion and voice it...as wrong and homophobic as it is. Unfortunately, there are also a lot of ignorant fucks posting on message boards that agree with him. I have seen a fair share of posters that condemn his comments though too.

I think what will continue to anger me most about this is if CBS/BB continues to support him with employment opportunities in the future (like they did with his web travel show), or if BB skews the game to his advantage. I don't expect them to yank him from the show...I would like them to feature his rant on the show and then publicly severe ties with him after this wraps up.

They are the reason Jeff and Jordan were so popular in the first place. They are the archetypal Ken and Barbie white couple. Unfortunately most people who watch are the people that crowd stadiums to see Sarah Palin.

"Big Brother is a reality show about watching a group of people who have no privacy 24/7 — and seeing every moment of their lives. At times, the Houseguests make comments, reveal prejudices and other beliefs that we do not condone. Any views or opinions expressed in personal commentary by a Houseguest appearing on BIG BROTHER, either on any live feed from the House or the broadcast, are those of the individual(s) speaking and do not represent the views or opinions of CBS or the producers of the program."

That was CBS's official statement about the Jeff/Kalia fight. Meanwhile, didn't they roll out a huge, specific apology when Sea Hag a.k.a. Amber made anti-Semitic comments in BB8?

Thank you, jay

It's so easy to misinterpret text. I've done it many times and many times I've wished I had worded something differently; mainly in chatrooms because we get the luxury of delayed replies here on a messageboard.

Some ppl get annoyed at our little emoticions but they do serve a purpose of conveying the correct emotion when the text can be taken more than one way.

I did not take it personally at all. I wanted to make sure everyone knew I did not condone Jeff's attitude/opinion in that instance.

They always claim free speech to cover up what they want to say. I'm sick of it. Just because it was freely said doesn't mean it wasn't vile.

So the homophobes of the house are Rachel and Jeff. Am i forgetting anyone ?

Which is weird considering that gays have about as much presence and power in Hollywood as Jews do. ;)

Wait Rachel is a homophobe now too? This is news to me.

Even though she's not my favorite person, I don't think Rachel is a homophobe. Ragan accused her of that last year cuz of the "ooey gooey" comments but to be fair, Ragan had previously created a situation where it was OK to make sexually inappropriate jokes etc. I think Rachel was just playing within the paradigm he had already established.

Either way she apologized for it and it was ONE comment said in the context of teasing that wasn't even directly tied to his sexuality. That's nothing compared to Jeff's embarrassing, disturbing and clearly stated belief that homosexuality and pedophilia are connected.

Exactly! Some white people do this too whenever racist comments are made. "It's free speech!" As if anyone is attacking Jeff's right to say whatever he wants or asking that CBS censor it on the feeds. Quite the opposite! We wish they'd air it on the show but they won't because he's their golden boy.

It's not about his right to say what he wants, it's about the belief system behind what he's saying. Gay men shouldn't be allowed to chaperon children and if a children's book represents that, it is "perverted." His words. How else are we to interpret that other than "Gay men are more likely to be pedophiles?"

It's hilarious to watch Jeff fans scramble to defend this on other forums. FREE SPEECH!!!! FREE SPEEEEEEECH!! Yes OK. Now that we've scaled that incredibly low ethical bar, can we deal with the implications of that speech?

I believe Rachel also said that Ragan sucked at being gay compared to all of her real-life gay friends whom she loves. Which... well, I wasn't crazy about Ragan representing the gay community either with his wonderful remarks like "I'm going to stab African babies with AIDS needles."

I really didn't interpret that "ooey gooey cookie" comment as having a hidden meaning at all, either... I thought she was just fucking with him because he was on slop when she came back into the house for a day.

I never thought of Rachel as a homophobe either while we're on the topic of her. In addition to that, I actually am enjoying her a little more this time around. She'll always be a little obnoxious but I think that's her character.

Jeff says "Who's Dumbledorf.. who is that, the big guy?".. Rachel then says "why would she want a gay character?"

"Do you have to be the biggest bitch because you're gay"

I was so offended by Rachel you have no idea, the mocking of his feminite voice, and now this season yet again another homophobic comment between her and her alliance co-hort Jeff. "Why would she want a gay character."

as if gays shouldn't be allowed in childrens books.

These type of slide bigoted remarks keep coming up with her and jeff season after season Sgt Pepper.

She was not teasing or playing around with ragan, this was a very heated arguement and she went in for the jugular and it just saddens me that you would blame a gay man for creating a bigoted atmosphere as if we put ourselves in that type of environment because we like it. We like being bullied harrassed and spit upon and you defend her behavior as just mild horse play

Rachel was directly attacking a gay man by using his sexuality against him

Jeff was not, he on the other hand was comparing homosexuality to phedophilia.

So because you don't like Ragan that lets her off the hook from being a homophobe? I'm just in complete and utter shock right now that time after time she can say these horribly homophobic comments about gays and you guys adore her.

You all have your rachel banners and rachel avatars and defend her as if it's gays that are the problem and she's completely normal for bashing them. Like am i not on a gay message board, god i feel like i'm surrounded by straights or something, I just don't get you guys acceptance of her.

datjacob I was not a Rachel fan at all (and I'm still not) so this is not coming from a fanboy place. I really think for a lot of us, what she said was obviously her idea of a bitchy/funny comment (albeit devoid of wit, which is typical Rachel) and it was said in the context of Ragan for weeks on end making jokes about gay stereotypes and creating an environment where it was OK to be sexually inappropriate and make gay jokes. It's the kind of line you'd hear on Will & Grace and Sex and the City for example.

Now that doesn't mean Rachel should be casual about using it, and you have every right to find it offensive. All we're saying is, in its proper context, Rachel's comment was a joke that could be offensive and she thought she had the latitude to make that joke precisely because Ragan, a gay man, had both openly and tacitly given her that permission in the past.

It's not about Ragan being a bad person or making racist jokes (which he did) or whatever; it's about Ragan creating an environment (all "Heyyyy girlfriend") where it was OK to make these jokes, and he only turned around and withdrew that permission once he started disliking Rachel.

And once he did, Rachel sincerely apologized for it (multiple times). She's an idiot and almost always obnoxious, but you don't get the sense that there's anything malicious or bigoted there. Unlike with Jeff whose comment was direct, hateful, ignorant and full of certitude (and most certainly not a joke).

I don't watch the feeds. The only thing I see is what's shown on TV, plus whatever people bring up in this thread. The only thing I remembered was Rachel saying that Ragan sucked at being gay. I rewatched the fight and yeah, the "do you have to be the biggest bitch" comment was bad and I didn't remember that, but I didn't hear her mocking his voice, and he was doing that to her anyway if she did it to him.

I don't like Rachel nor Ragan as people, and I've said multiple times on this board that I think Rachel is vapid, delusional and obnoxious. But I like Rachel as a reality TV character. There is a difference. I mean Amber from BB8 was a vile human being but it was hilarious to watch her and I loved doing it. That doesn't mean I liked her.

so sgt pepper when rachel just recently asked jeff why jk rowling would want a gay character is that once again her bitchy witty humor that i'm just not getting ?

so since i'm not getting her bitchy/funny comments as you call them do i have a problem just like ragan had? You really do make it seem like gays are the ones that are the problem
