  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Can large heavy people take a joke ?

The way all of you gang up on Telstra, personally insulting him is just as bad.

Pettiness is not wanting on these forums...

I tend to agree.

By creating a thread like this, Telstra may be trying to be provocative. Everyone so easily gives Telly what he wants.

What it shows me is that the relative anonymity of the boards allows people to be nasty so easily.

I simply ask "Can large heavy people take a joke ? "
I didn't get any answers but this ...

Telly, you got plenty of answers. You just didn't get the answer you wanted. In most of the English-speaking world, it's considered rude to make comments about people's weight. The guy you were chatting with probably didn't consider it a joke, which is why he blocked you.

^ anyway i don't need answers now.

Off topic:
I can see a small tsunami

Like the nasty things he said in this very thread? And amongst the other things he has posted on this board? It might not be "right" to gang on him but also realize that he continually makes many ignorant comments about many different people because of the anonymity he has as well.

Agreed. Some of the responses are just as bad as Telstra and they are therefore no better than he is.

It's because it is something they have been struggling with and might not be easy for them. We all have something we struggle with and if someone makes jokes about it or points it out of course we're going to feel bad about it. People react in different ways so there is no way in telling how a person might take it, the best is to be respectful and not make jokes like that.

I never really paid much attention or commented on his stupidity before, but ever since he made that thread where he posted pictures of wounded/dying men and commented on how hot they were I've felt no need to hide the fact that I think he's a complete and utter moron.

The fact that people get upset over his idiotic and tasteless threads doesn't make them as bad as he is, it just proves that they're sane.

Anyway, this thread makes me wonder if he isn't just trolling us after all.

I take your point. I forgot about that thread. I actually reported it as it was just wrong.

But I still stand by my comments.

Setting aside speculations of Telstra being a troll, I don't think it's necessary to respond with petty derision.

I can understand perfectly well the reactionary response to this thread, but I think LilBit's post above is one good example of how to reply. He was calm and rational, and explained the situation without declaring intellectual superiority.

We all get a little worked up over the attitudes and actions of other members occasionally, I know I do, but sometimes I think hitting report and unsubscribe is the best course of action, particularly if you're unable to maintain your composure.

Absolutely nothing productive comes from calling somebody an idiot in the heat of the moment.

A bit of history;

I remember the first thread Telstra made the day he first appeared on this site nearly five years ago. It was this very subject, and presented every bit as crudely. I was the first to post in it.

When I logged on the next day, I had a private message from Telstra telling me that I was right, that the members weren’t at all happy with him and his thread. When I looked for the thread, it had already been deleted.

Nearly five years later he pulls the same stunt with the same topic.

Only this time his antics were much worse because he has been around this site (over 22,000 posts) for nearly five years to get to know the ‘rules’ and, more importantly, learn his fellow members’ feelings on such matters.

So it comes as no surprise to me when people get fed up with him, and say so. He is either unable to learn much in five years time, or he just likes to disregard his fellow JUBbers feelings and cause them grief?

At this point, I think he earns most of the ‘rude’ comments he gets.

only afew adults in thread thread.
You are one. ..| The rest are quite childish ...

Ooh, can we have a thread JUST of fat people held up for ridicule for our amusement? Because that shit's comedy gold.

Lex

I actually found myself wanting him to say "honestly... yes!"

That would have been the best JUB post ever.

-d-

I would have said Yes, but since he is so childish i just have to ignore.

By the way, since when did i attack any JUB member? zero.
Some of them just the dramma queens ...

More to the point, it is obviously his goal to get them.

Some people strive for merit, others notoriety. I can't remember the Hollywood source, but the quote goes "the only thing worse than being talked about is NOT being talked about." Bingo!

"Look at me, I'm outrageous, aren't I, Mommy! Look at me! Look at me!"

And, contrary to his protests, he repeatedly attacks other JUBBERs in his broad swipes at nations, religions, body types, you name it, just as Nazis, KKK, and other groups do.

In the end, it is all a bit trollish, isn't it? We have no person, no culture, no job or career, no family, no context, no relationships, just a man behind a mask. It's not like the comments come from a real person, nor do the criticisms go against one. Hidden he remains.

You can't speak for me.
Which JUBBERS did i attacked since 2007 ?

Being borderline underweight ive put up with plenty of mean spirited jokes from fat people too. Some of them seem to think they can criticize whoever they want on any grounds and yet expect every consideration when it comes to themselves and their problems.

Though im the first to admit ill usually find the most inappropriate thing to say for any given situation, people either get my humour or they don't, i cant stand PC types who get worked up over everything, and its usually the quickest way to dispatch them lol
