  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Can large heavy people take a joke ?

.
I just chatted with a really really obese person about his health in the Sauna.
Get along with him well. He told me about the doctor offered him surgery to remove 70% of the fat on his stomach but he refused.

Between this thread and the Ann Coulter discussions from last week, I'm really dismayed by the number of people defending incivility.

I'm in two minds - I'm rarely rude, and I certainly wouldn't have cracked a comment like Telstra did in the OP.

Then again, it is a hook-up site. People who go there looking for charm, romance and long discourses on anything are probably wasting their time for the most part; in my not-exactly huge experiences with these sort of places, cutting to the chase is very much de rigeur. I'm not saying it's right, but I don't think anyone who's been on one for more than a day should have massive expectations of it being a high society soiree and should tailor their defences and mindset as such.

That being said, and a little off-topic... I'd be interested to see what someone who's been on the receiving end of such treatment has used in his own rejections of unwanted advances pre and post-rejection. Should we pity the overweight guy who is chastised for it if he has "no fems" or "no blacks" in his profile? Is he himself the epitome of politeness and empathy when someone who is not his type (or whom he finds to be repulsive) contacts him? Or does everyone sink to the lowest common denominator eventually?

Yes, yes I did.

I made the mistake of putting the word "old" in the title of the thread, which managed to derail it completely from there on out.

Hookup sites are not the topic here -- fat people are, and Telly's gratuitous attack on them.

My photo is the same photo I used in my other profiles, and is not touched up other than for contrast of lighting, so I'm not sure what you imply. Seems like a reach for someone unwilling to post anything at all. It's me, plain old me, and isn't a nude or body shot, as I'm not of the ilk that a profile has to be a menu for shopping for bodies.

It's a discussion forum. My face is my own, and it gives a bit of context, and most explicitly, a face to the comments I post. The whole point is it is NOT some anonymous disembodied cad who is ashamed to show his face. I can't imagine what lame excuse about creeps on the internet applies. We don't really have any examples of the JUB killer or stalker to suggest that men who have posted their face pics here for over a decade have had to worry. It's an excuse, as it always is.

And no, it is not proof of my identity, but if I were going to post a fake, my lack of attractiveness certainly suggests I would have made a lame choice in choosing that pic. People on Hot Topics learn a member's integrity and honesty through time, and I'll stand by almost 10,000 opportunities that readers here have had to learn that.

Read post 1, is this an attack?

"the guy 180cm 110kg.
I said "you might crushed me" ... jokingly in a friendly way, then he blocked me right away LOL

So can large heavy people take this joke ?"

In response to the OP, a joke of that nature is not appropriate on a dating site. Perhaps in a different context you could say something like that to a friend when you know they'll be fine with it.

In response to this thread in general... needs more owl GIFs...

"you might crushed me" = actively trying to shame and humiliate ?
Wow wow wow LOL

How about this,

Telly, you might be an ugly old fart that no one wants to shag. Hahaha. Jokes!

It's not offensive right? I said jokes!

The thing is telstra, I don't believe for a second you were trying to be funny. You're an a-hole. That's where that comment came from. Not from humor.

Being someone that has struggled with his weight all his life, you hear shit like this constantly. I also don't think you're stupid enough to not know the difference, so shame on you.

Oh and btw, this isn't your first hate thread about fat people, so stop pretending to be so innocent.

Just repeat their posts would shut them up.
I find that funny ...

It's not pity for anybody, just because someone else is rude or ignorant or makes those types of comments doesn't give "you" excuses to do the same.

Agreed. I was merely musing whether, as so often becomes the case, the abused end up perpetuating similar abuse on others.

I looked up Wiki. It says In September 1991 a French speaker in an agriculture committee in the European Communities called for the communities to show "la sagesse des Normands" (the wisdom of the Normans), which was translated into English as calling for Norman Wisdom to sort out Europe's problems.

Lmbo!! I'm usually pretty sweet, but I'm definitely not one to play with XP

I must say I'm pleasantly surprised and happy by most of the responses in this thread, during past experiences on this board, I had assumed MOST of the people here were down right 'shallow bitches' who would bite your head off or make a unwarranted snarky response no matter what you posted here. CLEARLY I was wrong and not EVERYONE here is a bottom feeder, so I guess I've been no better than the OP for making such a broad assumption about JUB and most of the users here. I'm glad I was wrong and I apologize. I think I may frequent this board more often now.

I think you were right the first time.

There are plenty of nasty responses here. Although it is good to see that many, including myself, were shocked at the outright hostility of some. In saying this, I'm in no way drawing any conclusions on the intentions of Telstra. That is a separate issue.

I look at the responses in your thread and Animalius' thread (loan shark) and wonder why people are so angry.

Why would anyone want to start a thread and when the likelihood of nasty responses is almost guaranteed?
