Re: Can we finally merge "Black" & American Histor
There's no point in acknowledging it if it's going to be deflect with "well everybody suffers."
The same reason handicapped people get ramps, though the situation is a bit more intricate than that. If you read my OP at all, you'd see I'm not entirely pro-black advantage. I am supporting the retraction of Black History Month here.
This isn't about one person, it's about a group of people.
So are you only bothered by lack of professionalism when it's only minorities or are you convinced that minorities get jobs they don't deserve at a higher rate than whites?
Easier said than done. When people are discriminated against they don't take too kindly to it, do nothing and you upset one group, do something and you upset the other. I started this same thread on a black forum and you should see the hell I caught. If I were a weak-minded person I'd have hung myself at some of the things that were said about me, where I should go, and what should happen to my mother.
Anywho, there's a discordance here. You acknowledge discrimination and unfair practices, but you cherrypick how it's dealt with and who you recognize. People getting jobs they don't deserve is in no way limited to affirmative action or minorities.
Just look at corporate America which is FULL of rich people who are rich and have great jobs and education just because of who their dad is, where they grew up, or who they know. There is barely any legislation against that.
