Can we finally merge "Black" & American History?

Re: Can we finally merge "Black" & American Histor

I don't think it will be possible for your country to have a unified history when it can't even agree that your President takes his heritage from both sides of his family.

It is mind boggling.

 I don't see the connection between the two. And careful with "possible" and "America", we've come a LOOOOONG way, all the while with people saying each progression is/was "impossible."

It is mind boggling.

It's pretty simple, people are uneducated about and afraid of race. Whites are guilted into avoiding the issue like the plague or feeling criminalized by the mere mention leading to defense and denial, blacks are so busy holding on to the 20th century under the guise of "honoring our history" to focus on the, ya know, FUTURE. Blacks claim to honor our ancestors yet don't show 1/16th of the courage, dignity, and honesty that our predecessors did, even though they had it so much tougher than we do.

Then there are people on both sides who are able to address it without paper-thin feelings and silly alliances, who understand advancements are made when you get to the heart of the matter and propose reasonable solutions.

Folks...We had Martin Luther King and Black Americans were still treated like second-class citizens after his death.

Now we have a BLACK President. Racism is still STRONG and will not end because a Black men resides in the white house.

It's not going to KILL American schools to discuss Black American history one Damn month out of 12 months...

If Black kids have to be taught about white history for 9 months then White students should not have a problem with learning about Black History in one month.

Black History should be year-round but it is NOT.

All we need is history like my dad's old history book had it -- with Chinese, Vikings, blacks, and everyone else mixed in and identified.

Yeah, so did Rome.
I'm not optimistic about our freedoms at this point, and when they're gone, it will be empire.

We just need more big minorities. Hispanics help, but many of them can blend in. We could use a few million SE Asians, a couple million more Japanese, another couple million Chinese, and a million of two from India. With more minorities more visible, more people get more tolerant and accepting.

If current immigration issues (exposing unaired prejudices) is any indicator, they'll either accept more minorities or become frightened and work harder to keep "us" and "them" separate by unofficially segregating schooling, housing, etc...
