Re: Terminally Ill Manson Follower Denied Parole
I remember the summer of 1969 very well. I was 12 years old at the time. The country had just come out of 1968 and the assassination of Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy. The country was also still reeling from the assassination of John F. Kennedy four years earlier.
And then came 1969. I remember how "crazy" it was that year, especially that summer. There was Manson murders, the Stonewall riots, Ted Kennedy and Chappaquiddick, the death of Judy Garland, Hurricane Camille (one of the worst hurricanes in history), the Woodstock festival and man landing on the moon.
The Manson murders are still chilling to read about - they are still considered among the most gruesome in history. There are certain details that I can still recall reading about when I was a kid - how they shot the teenaged boy sitting outside in his car, how Abbie Folger was repeatedly stabbed lying on the front lawn as she said, "Enough...I'm already dead..." Sharon Tate begging for the life of her baby while the Manson girls debated about whether to cut her open and take the baby out or not... Writing on the walls with the victims' blood. The photos in the newspaper - the ones they could print.
