As much as the singleminded activist in me wants to say "I'd rather clean dick cheese with a toothbrush than work at CFA", truth is you get the job that you can get, and you try and get the best one you can. In the fast food business you can't do much better than CFA, and if it pays the bills, it pays the bills :/ People who can afford the luxury to work for any less than they could be working for, clearly don't need the money. I envy them.
 
Just a thought since MOST chain restaurants have franchise owners that are in no way beholden to the corporate President's line of thought

Just a couple thoughts. I have belonged to a very long standing discriminator of gay rights as an organization for over 22 years. Recently due to acts by congress and by military leadership and most importantly the desires of the Commander and Chief Gay rights took one large step towards equality in the service. I do not personally think that the opinions of many straight men and women would have been altered in a petri dish alone with no example of what gay men and lesbian women are not only capable of but how easy it is to simply be a professional.

So on that basis alone I would not deride or loath a community member from working at Chick-fil-A because they are the example that will change hearts.

This man in New Hampshire is just one example. There are hundreds more in many locations. I am positive of that based on 75% of america favoring gay marriage.

Ethics and business rarely go together in business. I've been within the corp world of embarrassinly too many fortune 500 companies, and the ethics are laughable. They only care about the image of ethical compliance. It's just a matter that Cfa got caught and confessed to the crime...knowing there would be minimal penalty and perhaps a windfall. Yesterday was the #1 sales day in the history of the company. Their 'constituents' love them. Just like in politics, it's the 'expanding the base' issue that will now be a challenge for Cfa.
 
I am not sure how I feel about this logic. CFA local owners have little to no control over what the chain does as a whole - it is privately owned and CFA's CEO is the only one who makes decisions. And his heart will not change, I promise you that. The "guilty as charged" smugness that sparked this whole drama is a very clear indication of that...

You are definitely limiting yourself or what others should do. MOST companies don't support Obama or Dems. Their policies/taxing is not business-friendly so good luck finding companies with liberal leanings. Your best bet would be companies that are neutral perhaps. I have worked for 5 very large corps in diverse fields (all over 2000 employees) and 4/5 were heavy Repub donors with both their own and PAC monies. But, most companies paid me well, the most recent company was totally right-wing but had same sex benefits.

Also, remember you're speaking as an LA resident. Not everyone has as many employer options in other areas (white collar, blue collar, or service sectors). Nor is career changing in mid-life/late-life a viable option for everyone.

In a utopian world, it would be nice to work with a firm that perfectly aligns with my beliefs...but I've given up on that one.

gay person who votes for Romney thinking that "on the whole" their life will be better with him as President vs. Obama even though on the issue of same sex marriage, Obama supports (non binding) and is putting it in the platform (non binding). The extent to which Romney would do or try to do anything national on the issue is an unknown

you're a gay man who works at Chick-Fil-A and they treat you well - pay you well - etc.

but their owner takes co. profits and uses (guessing a very small part) them to support anti gay marriage groups

the alternative job with a co. who either supports or is neutral about gay marriage - well their benefits and work environment are not as good

I won't eat their chicken but I'm not sure I'd give up a good job for no job or a good job for a lesser job in this economy
and I don't think that decision is such an easy one

as I don' think voting for Obama is such a layup just cause you're gay

Hey Chance, that's pretty much what I've been preaching (WSJ) for weeks on here. I know their business model extremely well. Now, with Wendy's on board with the hate...I can't say much about their business.

At any rate, take a look at this video with the leftist bullying a poor CFA window employee. Another really bad strike against us 'protesters.' Chance, does this obnoxious dude remind you of any emotional, over the top posters here going off on the innocent without fully realizing what he's saying or doing? He does make me think of another LOL.

She handled it well. That's pathetic when people go into a CFA and verbally assault the help. At least ask for the mgr/director of the store. She's just trying to do her job...and she did it well despite how awkward it must have been for her.

Now, the dude Adam is just hoping Cfa will look at his resume. Now, he can 'feel purposeful' in the unemployment line.

If you've read the store about their 'gay employees', it sounds like employees are hearing it constantly from both sides. People need to know the bucks stops at the very top at CFA.
