On-Topic Chris Hayes: I'm 'Uncomfortable' Calling Fallen Military 'Heroes'

Sigh.... The inherent ignorance in those who feel they are above it. I hate the compliments but I have known several heroes. No other comment.

I've known, worked with, and served with HEROES myself.

None of them would call themselves that, or want to be associated with them.

Heroes are individuals who run into danger while everyone else is running away from it.

Most of our most ardent "Hero Supporters" both in the media and Congress have never served a day in their lives, either in Military or Public Service.

But woooo! If you don't call the same person a hero as I do, even though I wear a lapel pin and support sending our men and woman off into the meat grinder for our Corporations, and "national interests" even though I won't send my own, then there's something wrong with you!

Honestly, that's what I thought this "talking head" was saying.

Let's be honest with each other here!

If this guy had said the same thing around "Presidents Day" Weekend no one would have paid this guy any attention.

He spoke from his heart and (unlike those running for POTUS this year) genuinely seemed uncomfortable talking about it.

It's his truth without malice, treason, or motive.

Was he asked to answer a question regarding his perception during "Memorial Day Weekend?"

Yes, and I'd imagine that it sucks to be him right about now. ;)

No, he did not. Saying you are not comfortable with the word "heroes" is not disrespect.

Being put in the hot seat during Memorial Day Weekend on a Nationally Televised News Program, and being asked to discuss the "politics of war" and "Heroes?"

I'd fire my fucking booking agent! ..|

Just saying. ;)

Of which neither of us here knows anything. The army pays for your college once you're done with it. That's as good a reason as any to enlist, without having to be all heroic.

I basically agree with this. I don't totally think that it's quite that simple, but it can be a reason for people to go into the military, especially those who don't realize the seriousness of being in the armed forces.

But, but, but... I thought he'd put out ;_;

Really?

Whatever in God's Green Earth ever gave you THAT impression?

chance1, like me, is a fellow "Manwhore."

We must first be enticed with man food; hot wings, fries, and a pitcher of beer would be a good start.

Tickets to a ball game would be foreplay.

Seeing you at the urinal, looking all young, fresh, innocent, with the band of your jock strap showing above your snug properly fitting jeans, while we're not (*cough* he's not) looking but you're still working it, would be an invitation to take the party outside of the ballpark.

If you want some of that hot lovin' you gotta earn it! ;)

Thank you, sensei. Your culture is so fascinating to this one! This one has taken notes, and thinks it's a done deal now!

Uh...urm...last I checked you're from Indiana, I'm from Texas, and chance1 is from NYC.

If anyone can "teach" it would be you. ;)

Work it!

I'm from Bulgaria, really :p

But in my three years of experience, I'd have to say the bible belt boys are not really worth all the closeted drama in most cases :p

Bulgaria. Why are you even discussing this?
