I think the economist had the best summation of this whole brouhaha. http://www.economist.com/blogs/democracyinamerica/2012/05/political-correctness

It's sad he had to apologize for the comments he made. He has a right to believe what he wants, but I see people can't voice certain opinions without having to apologize. It's what this country has come to.
I hope he doesn't lose his show. I like it.
and who is this Donny Deutsch? is he the original Deutsch bag?
Here ya go Jack. This must make your week.
The guy just cannot win. There is a link to his apology.

He shouldn't have apologized, just explained -- because he has a valid point. For some reason the media has been treating people as heroes practically for putting on a uniform. That's plain stupid.
You want a hero, here's one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alvin_C._York
His medal citation:
After his platoon suffered heavy casualties and 3 other noncommissioned officers had become casualties, Cpl. York assumed command. Fearlessly leading 7 men, he charged with great daring a machine gun nest which was pouring deadly and incessant fire upon his platoon. In this heroic feat the machine gun nest was taken, together with 4 officers and 128 men and several guns.

I Love Chris Hayes and I know he meant no harm....over the last few days I've listened to Soldiers & Vets on the radio agree with Chris's original comments and discuss the matter better than any right wing-attacker....
I can't watch Chris and Melisa Perry LIVE..I DVR both shows because I like to fast-fwd thru the boring segments....Some of their segments get HEATED quick....LOL...A couple of weeks ago i thought Chris might have to come between 2 of his male guests....Chris & Melisa are the Nicest Nerds you'll ever see on Cable News TV...
@ WhiteEagle..Chris's personality is what makes him attractive...Don't be so quick to judge a book by its cover...

Just because someone enlists in the military doesn't make them a patriotic hero. The Bush Depression eliminated millions of jobs so a lot of young people had no choice but to enlist in the armed forces. For many they had few options but to enlist. That doesn't make them heroes.
Of course the desperate right wing takes this out of context for political attacks. It's their fake outrage again.
^ oh well
another over thinker
instead of just recognizing the wrong play ........... making amends .............. movin on
this
the "knee jerk" is the liberal DEFENSE
when the one who spoke the words knows better
so now YOU know better than Chris what his words meant

I'm not overthinking. What he said was correct, or rather - it's an opinion that I share, and it seems not just me. It's an intelligent viewpoint. What was wrong was the timing of it, and the political environment.
The "knee-jerk" argument might be "liberal DEFENSE", but it IS perfectly valid. For reference - see the OP...
he recanted
he's an earnest fellow - chris hayes - watch his show
so to repeat, his reaction to his statement was to apologize
and not because of the political environment - stop inserting your own bias to a situation that's been "adjudicated"
