Christian Arsonist Destroys Gay Couples Home In North Carolina

These people who did this terrible deed are not showing the love of Christ. Therefore, they are not Christians.

"Christian ministers fighting against equality for Gay and Lesbian Americans are preaching to their congregations that homosexuality is an abomination before god and that Gays and Lesbians must be executed. This homophobic rhetoric is fanning the fires of hate in churches across America’s south."

Doesn't matter if the the arsonist is not Christian.
Some "Christians" is fanning the fires of hate.

Seriously, America, fuck the First Amendment! This atrocious behaviour should not be tolerated! The government has to take a stand and put an end to it! This is NOT an exercise of religion! This is criminal behaviour!

The country has gone nowhere since the civil rights movement. In fact, it's going backwards.

Talk about terrorists!

You would think in 2011 we would be a little more advanced in this country. It's very sad.

That's sad, but it doesn't surprise me since NC is in the middle of the "bible belt". I feel really bad for this couple. They have struggled enough and then to have this happen. Totally uncalled for and those responsible will suffer the consequences.

I have to chime in here on this story. I live about 35 minutes away from where this happened. I saw the local news story and was deeply saddened by this. But I do have to take one issue with the OP's article attributing this vile crime to Christians. Maybe they did do it but at this time there are still no suspects. It's purely speculation that so called Christians committed this crime.

However, I do hope that they apprehend the guilty party and prosecute to the fullest extent of the law. To burn someone's house down is motivated by pure hatred and is a felonious crime that rightfully carries severe penalties. I cannot understand how a person could be so depraved that they would choose to act so evilly towards any other human being. But whoever did this is most certainly NOT Christian, even if they make that claim.

Christians are becoming the new terrorists.

In a generalization, stereotypical kind of way.

^^^
True but it could be a group of skinheads, or some crazy rednecks or anybody really. We are hated by more than just some religious freaks.

of course not ALL Christians but it is still part of Christianity.
Like Islam religion of peace but some are still terrorists.

They are using god to justify it.
Until all religions becomes fairy tale stories, they are responsible for every part of the bible/koran/Torah ... etc

So people want to tackle the "root" causes?
They have to tackle the religious text (words of god itself).

I'm sorry but the most hate I've ever encountered in my life has almost always been from "christian" groups.
I'm really sick of how a book that was written over 2,000 years ago is being used as an excuse to torment and terrorize the LGBT population and used to pass legislation to treat us as second class citizens, I really am.

I happen to be an atheist, but I also get angry when someone uses a title like "Christian Arsonist Destroys...." If you bother to read the actual article from the newspaper, nowhere does it imply or state that a Christian had anything to do with it. It is blatantly stirring up sectarian divisiveness for no good reason. While the article points out that some Christian ministers are calling for homosexuals to be harmed or condemned, that in itself is no reason to assume that the arsonist in this case was a Christian. Hate crimes are hate crimes and bad enough without trying to pin them on a particular religion without any basis. Personally I don't believe this does the gay rights movement any favours promoting this kind of journalism without facts. I feel sorrow for the couple who lost their home, but "Arsonist Destroys..." would be just as compelling a headline.

Has anyone taken a look at the rest of the site? The guy lives 'off the grid' and is pretty militant. I doubt he cares about sectarian divisiveness.

They really can't imply that it was a Christian if they don't even know who started the fire. There's an obvious chance that it is... but I know lots of other groups that hate us. I've even had run ins with athiests who hate us. Muslims of course. The Jewish community, Jehovah's Witnesses, etc.

Sometimes we gays point fingers too quickly. Then we bitch when people point at us for something.

Thanks for posting this. This is basically what I was trying to say but you articulated it much better.
