Civil Unions in Hawaii

She said she wants the voters of Hawaii to decide. Did you not bother to read it?

heres the problem. we are not a democracy. we are a democratically elected republic.

we made it that way so that minorities would be protected.

you are saying she doesn't understand the basic concept behind our form of governemnt as a governor of a state?

it just boggles the mind.

It's not a comparison, it's a definition.

If you had a clue about what fascism means you'd understand.

I doubt you know it's a social policy that stresses societal uniformity and marginalization of minority groups, as the GOP is doing to homosexuals, transgendered people, and other queers.

I recommend you read some books on what it was like living under some of the fascist countries in the 20th century. People were murdered left and right. You're severely delusional to even make a comparison like that. It's a slap in the face to anyone who has suffered under fascism. You've got it made compared to those people.

its the fine line between freedom of hate speech and the willingness to act on it, then?

that makes sense.

So is organising and acting to deprive americans of their civil liberties within that definition. I know that is not how it is currently interpreted, but what case law makes it so?

I seem to have more questions than answers....lol

Well, ya know, there's 42 U.S.C. 1983:

Every person who, under color of any statute, ordinance, regulation, custom, or usage, of any State or Territory or the District of Columbia, subjects, or causes to be subjected, any citizen of the United States or other person within the jurisdiction thereof to the deprivation of any rights, privileges, or immunities secured by the Constitution and laws, shall be liable to the party injured in an action at law, suit in equity, or other proper proceeding for redress, except that in any action brought against a judicial officer for an act or omission taken in such officer’s judicial capacity, injunctive relief shall not be granted unless a declaratory decree was violated or declaratory relief was unavailable. For the purposes of this section, any Act of Congress applicable exclusively to the District of Columbia shall be considered to be a statute of the District of Columbia.

That creates a private right of action. It's not a crime per se. So it's kind of hard to talk about conspiracy. I suppose one could bring someone else into the suit under a theory of joint liability if he really had something to do with the incident. Does that answer the question?

here we go again with mock indignation.... and after you've been slinging ten shades of mud in every direction you can to avoid answering a few simple questions.

So she wants a pass. Do you?

And having people vote on the rights of minorities is ok why?

Still waiting. [construct looks at his watch.]

No.

Fascism is a right-wing ideology that chiefly persecutes minorities and socialists.

A slap in the face is the backstabbing you are committing against your fellow queers.

Let's be nice and wait until he does take a swing at us. Ya know, by answering the questions I helpfully quoted above.

Fascists murder in the name of ideology. Republicans have done no such thing. A grossly injust comparison.

he never said Republicans lol. Nice false attribution.

Fascism is what you get when you take the Republican philosophy (which is right wing) and make it way more right wing.

Most Republicans probably aren't fascists, but it's true they are both right wing philosophies.

What about American evangelicals giving money to the folks over in Uganda supporting the murder of gays there? The only reason they're not doing it here is because they couldn't get away with it. They can just get away with stripping us of anything that makes life worth living.

SO fascism is ok as long as there is no murder involved?

not all fascists murder... that is a silly assumption. you better have some facts to support that idea...

postable ones

What the fuck is it with you and not being able to read?

Or are you just practicing how you can always spin something for your boss?

Okay, I guess enough of us have concluded that laika has already thrown Gov. Lingle under the bus. Have at it!

^ Do you really think that some intern with a one year poli-sci course under his belt really has a clue about how it all works?

He's just been hired as a barking dog. Probably comes from a family who has voted for the governor's own party for three generations so that is good enough for him.

I wonder though, if his trainer knows how much paid time their wonk is spending on a gay porn site while he's at 'work'.

Or, more likely, is his only 'job' for his boss to figure out ways to use Republican in every sentence.

Maybe we'll see him on Faux Snooz one day.

:rotflmao: I just wonder if they'd be pleased to know that he refuses to defend Gov. Lingle so that he could spend his time defending far, far worse.

Faux Snooz? :rotflmao: I love these far-left wingnuts who hate Fox because they're successful

Meanwhile they're watching MSNBC, where you never hear both sides.

And you do on Fox? :rotflmao:

Maybe that's why you are so hopelessly partisan. You've actually convinced yourself that what you see on Fox is some kind of objective picture of reality.

Better start using your sword, boy. That shield's gonna wear out pretty soon. :D

oh lord.... the last refuge of every republican debater.... the gotcha left leaning media is at fault and Fox is the savior.

what a blast!

republicans think that all media EXCEPT fox are liberals in bed with the dems. I have seen Maddow, Olberman, Breszinski, and scarborough all slam the fuck out of Obama.

Cnn has done the same.

really... this is sooo 2008 propaganda.... isn;t there anything new? Is Sarah busy milking the country for money today?

I was way to optimistic as well..... I should have known better.

Why should allowing gay couples to get civil unions have to go in front of the voters?...... going by that methodology there is no need for the legislature, every piece of legislation I guess should have to go before voters......

And I'm still waiting for republicans on this board to express their opinions.... either in opposition, or agreement.... but I'm not holding my breathe...
