Clinton wins OH & RI, Obama wins VT, TX??

Clinton wins Rhode Island, Ohio and Texas!

Huge wins for her because they prove Obama's momentum isn't what he and his supporters have claimed. Told her to get out of the race and here she AGAIN wins all the big states.

A Democrat is not going to win the White House without Ohio and this proves Obama can't carry it.

In fact, states vital to a Democratic victory in November go to Hillary Clinton.

Most likely neither of them will have 2025 delegates in the end, so it'll come down to Superdelegates.

Interesting, and something Superdelegates may pay attention to, is Obama outspent Clinton 2 to 1 and still couldn't win Texas and Ohio.

obama has not won texas

too close to call

if hillary wins it

whole new ballgame

Yep.

but her ohio acceptance speech is soooooooooooo wooden

wow

ud have thought she would have teed up a winner here

OMG

She's genuine, and watch her look into her crowd -- they're human beings out there and she's talking to them.

Watch Obama's speech. He never takes his eyes off the teleprompters. It's like he's in front of a TV or computer monitor.

Once again I'm reminded of 2000 when Al Gore was called wooden and George Bush relied on teleprompters.

OK, those of you in the media and politics who kept yammering that Hillary should get out of the race BEFORE March 4 - where are you now? She isn't "my candidate" (I have a slight edge toward Obama, but I consider these two to be the worst of all the Democrats who were in the field) - but that didn't EVER make me feel, or even hope, that she should "just leave" before this second Super Tuesday.

Whither to now, though? It's going to get nasty. I just hope and pray the entire Democratic Party doesn't melt down over this, because this is gonna go all the way to Denver, with neither "going anywhere" any time soon. Meanwhile the Republicans are now able to become a united juggernaut.

I'm unconditionally voting for either Democratic candidate, because I don't really expect that somebody's going to force me into the voting booth with a pistol pointed at my head in November to make me vote otherwise.

Well yes, but ...

McCain is not very interesting.

Clinton and Obama are exciting and taking up almost all the air time.

And the Republican convention will be a ho-hum affair because everybody knows what's going to happen.

The Democratic convention will probably be the hottest ticket in town.

It's possible McCain will seem cold and somewhat irrelevant by the time the general election gets cooking.

^Maybe you could explain how Obama is going to win an election without Ohio, Penna., Michigan or Florida? Those states will go for McCain or Clinton, but will not vote for Obama.

Obama has a strategy to win the nomination, not the White House.

Never, for a second, did I believe Hillary would drop out of the race. She's in this to win...as she should be. A continued battle for the nomination is good because it allows the voters to see what (if any) differences there are between the two.
Also, I never believed that the media or voters would give Obama a "free ride" forever. People love to see politicians knocked off their pedestals. Not only do people get kicked when they are down, but they get kicked down when they are up. Which is not necessarily a bad thing.
Too many voters vote for someone they perceive to be a winner, rather than voting for the person they believe is most capable of doing the job. This whole momentum thing always seems like rats following the pied piper, to me.

Nick your concept of what constitutes proof is something short of rigorous and iman if your ability to predict the outcome of elections had any value then Mrs. Clinton would have been the nominee after super tuesday.

The rout in Ohio happened. Obama has a huge electability problem in the state. He took a total of 5 counties, and lost in 82 counties. Even though he's able to rack up a large number of urban black voters he did terrible among white voters, winning just 34 percent.

You don't win a general election in Ohio if you can only win in 5 counties. I realize I'm speaking out against the other members in my tribe, the wealthy post-graduate male clique of punditry, in pointing out Obama has a problem in Ohio. So be it.

In Ohio, Clinton won the votes of Democrats by a 14 percent margin, 56-42. Clinton and Obama tied among Republican & Independent voters. I find it ironic that the most strident of "progressives" find themselves backing the candidate whom does the least well among self-declared Democrats.

And lets not forget that Obama outspent Clinton by a 3 or 4:1 margin, and had the union help. There's no amount of money or youth organizing that is going to change the dynamics at work against Obama in Ohio in the November general.

We'll see in a month, but my guess is that we get about the same map coming out of Pennsylvania. There is not a winning Democratic electoral map which doesn't include either or both Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Nick using a source whose reasoning skills are about as bad as yours does not help your case.

Perhaps you're correct and Obama can't win Ohio against McCain come November but you have offered no proof to support your case. The only proof you have offered is that he could not beat Mrs. Clinton in Ohio.

And just for the record Mr. Obama received 979,000 votes in Ohio to Mr. McCain's 462,000 and from that you conclude he can't beat him come November.

Obama has NOT won any of the MAJOR states. Clinton has taken the big states that are needed in November. As a Democrat, that shows me that come November, I want someone who can put up a fight in those states, and that is Clinton, NOT Obama.

We now know that Obama has some trouble when they turn up the heat in the kitchen. When Hillary quit tip-toeing and started acting like a professional presidential candidate, he began to stammer. For people who think she went negative (and I would say she only veered a little negative), this is why you do that now. What logic is there for Democrats to wait until the fall to see how their nominee reacts to the fire? Yep, Hillary is likely giving McCain material, but they would have come at him anyway. Better to air the laundry in the spring than wait 'til fall. Wouldn't it have been nice to know that Kerry would be so passive to criticism before it was too late in the fall?

I think Obama will re-think his strategy in the 7-week window before PA. I'm still considering him, but I want to see more substance and toughness. Hillary has that toughness and will-power that does draw me in despite my issues with her. But Obama is smart, and he said this morning that the Hillary Clinton is not your typical candidate. It's hard to just close the deal and put her away. I don't think he expects a "pass" from her or the media, but I do think many of his rabid supporters expect as much. It's almost embarrassing the way some of his supporters cry everytime she throws a punch (hey, there's no crying in politics) or thinks she should just drop out of the race for his convenience.

All that said, if this goes to Denver, it wil be very interesting historically, but probably would rip the party apart.

How can the Democrats justify nominating Obama, when he did not win California, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, and Texas? Clinton has a great case now, that she carried the major states, and come November she can be the candidate who can put up the best fight against the Republican candidate.

Did anyone besides me notice that some of the "news" commentators were about to burst into tears because of this.

Unbiased my butt. Chris Matthews is broken hearted.

Keith Olbermann reminds me of "Max Headroom". I'm not even sure he a real person. Anyway he gives me the willies.

Obama didn't have that unnerving smirk he usually sports while giving his sermonic speeches last night. That tells me he is rattled by this turn of events.

Clinton's speech was concise, inspiring, well delivered and included all important specifics.

On the lighter side, whoever styled her last night needs a raise. The power red was a very good choice. Appearance is crucial to politics. Unfortunately many people do make important decisions based on silly criteria. In politics, however, you play every card in your hand.

I agree. And I think Clinton will probably win Pennsylvania, if the trends (which have been very persistent) hold.

I don't think Hillary can beat McCain in a general election; and I have yet to see a poll which favors her over McCain with voters. But I've seen plenty which favor McCain over Clinton.

I think we're looking at President McCain in 2009. And maybe President Huckabee or Rice after the oldest president ever elected keels over from a heart attack while in office.

Unbelievable. Just unbelievable. :cry::cry::cry:

This is why we need this dream ticket to happen. I feel it would certainly be unifying for our party. We would smear Mccain.

I have to say that I was convinced that Obama was untouchable in the media. Smear wise. But after seeing how he reacted when the reporters questioned him about the Rezko trial I was a bit shocked. He froze up and excused himself and left the room. If this is how he reacts when he is asked a question of this nature, what the hell is going to happen when the Repubs go after him. :(
Because Hillary has had every nasty thing in the book said about her it seems to roll off her back.

^I know what you're talking about. That is why Obama hasn't done ANYTHING except soft venues. He CANNOT handle the surprise question.

I still say he is a constructed candidate...a total shill. What I'd like to know is by whom.

No one would have never tolerated this with anyone else except a black guy. Let's be honest about it.

If the Dems don't wrap this up soon the Reps won't HAVE to do anything on the smear front. It will be a cakewalk for them.

Speaking of Big States, do you actually think Texas, of all states, will go for Clinton in November?

The Big States will go as they always do ... California and New York will go Blue ... Texas and probably Florida will go Red ... no matter who is the nominee on the Democratic side.

Florida does not have to go red, but you make the point that other posters have tried to make - Obama wins the red state primaries, not the swing states.

Maybe we could get the election cancelled for Obama and just have state caucuses in November? He might have a chance.
