Confess something that might surprise others or damage your reputation on JUB - 2014

Occasionally we don't understand somebody, know where he is coming from nor whither he is going. Even so we just like having him around.

belamy has always seemed like this to me. An alien in my otherwise mundane life who cheers me up with his weird way of looking at the world.

Things can look "weird" when they get straightened up, especially the twisted ones.

dpnice:=D::=D:

Could not have worded it any better, we pass comments to each other on a fairly regular basis, he is one of a kind..........

I confess I have been trying to think of a smart new avatar name for that person who used to be " Spectating Loner"— "The man with the small penis"?, "UnNaughty Arousal"?, "The hipster's hipster"? .

How about you put your cowardice back in your pocket and stop having a go at people who aren't around to defend themselves?

You hide behind the 'oh I was just being ironic' excuse like you've done before.

The point is, you could easily have played along and posted humourously some abstract classical/artistic/musical reference, or some other jokey response.

For whatever reason, you chose not to, and instead prefer to respond (non-seriously) with 'oh you may as well have told me I'm a fucking stupid shitbag and said that you hate me'

The only other JUBber I remember who used that tactic of reply was the late great Lefty. You may have been different in many ways, but you do share some traits with him - the deliberately abstract/confusing speech, the cloaking of meaning, the tendency to portray as always being misunderstood - all the while posting stuff hard to understand.

It is similar to a troll but is not quite the same. It leads me to wonder what the underlying psychology of it is.

Belamo's not used to getting genuine compliments and warm encounters he hasn't purchased for himself in some seedy dark alley, or to entertain the thought that he might actually have something of value to offer someone - or that they might want it, free of charge with no strings attached.

Yes Belamo - you are liked and found intriguing, in spite of your crotchety pompousness. ..|

Yes indeed.

Clearly he never considered and it never crossed his mind that my first post asking about him writing books was actually a post expressing a liking or appreciation for him.

(and I bet you he still thinks I'm somehow lying/deceiving/manipulating when I say that)

So you just expected me to be the witty fool you take me for

I was trying to have a pleasant light-hearted conversation with you.

If someone tells me that I am wasting my time here

#-o

Are you seriously saying to me that you took this comment....

Your natural intellect is wasted on most of us here. You need to reach a new audience.

....as me saying to you 'Fuck off Belamo, I wish you weren't here. Go away'.

:##:

It was gentle teasing in an affectionate manner!

Silly rabbit.

(surely you must have known all that? And yes, everything I said, I'm being completely honest. I like you.)

Quite why, I've no idea.

(that was irony, Belamo)

I think that quite a few of us feel exactly the same way. But I am certainly not going to open a fan club for him, the contentious old bugger. ;)

I hate to admit that like a fungus, Belamo has slowly grown on me too. Not that I always understand him, but I do appreciate his sense of humor and insights.

Clearly, it never occured to you that I may actually have found no sign in that post of yours to consider it as the genuine honest approach the wording suggested, BUT that someone as thorny as me me needs a more careful handling  You thought you could pass right away because you assume the only resistance can come from a jaded diffidence, and you didn't pass even the first screen of the game, with the irony targeting rather my own image than your own behaviour or pretention, as you assumed it to be...

Not that it ever was one of my favorite books, but if you had had in mind the encounter of the Little Prince with the Fox, you might have been better equipped to attempt what you failed at.

Traslation***

While he chooses to pay for his sordid affairs, he prefers to be wined and dined for the casual free ones. ;)

Translation of the origin whole thing:

"why didn't you just write... etc": are you sure you want to talk to me, and in such friendly terms?

But clearly, since I've only provoked annoyance and irritation in the Chickenman today, I'll avoid considering to communicate with him (or with anyone else, for that matter) in cloying friendly terms in the future... just as usual.

Expression of the day:

-to talk past each other: ChickenGuy and belamo exchanging messages.

Well, except for the fact that I won't order and pay for the filthy liquid they sell as wine (and coffee) and, of course, that I do not hire, and even less date, anymore.

Chickenguy -

When dealing with Belamo, I find it best to familiarize yourself with Bizarro.

Linguistics

Bizarro and the other inhabitants of the Bizarro world used an odd but predictable form of English. The most notable characteristics were:

The lack of nominative case when using pronouns; Bizarro replaces pronouns that should be nominative with their analogues in the accusative case. Bizarro might introduce himself by saying "Me am Bizarro" instead of "I am Bizarro," for example.
The lack of proper verb conjugation; Bizarro only uses the first person conjugation for any verb. For example, the verb "is" is always conjugated as "am", leading to sentences like "This am great".
Speaking the opposite of what is really meant in a situation. Thus, "This am great" would mean that the thing isn't great at all. The exception would be "Me am Bizarro", which would actually mean what was said.

Post-Crisis linguistics

Post-Crisis Bizarro adopted all of the linguistic idiosyncrasies of his Pre-Crisis self, but also negated every possible word in the sentence. Though the usage was slightly inconsistent, this usually included:

Negating verbs.
Replacing adjectives with their opposite.
Replacing certain nouns with their opposite.

The ultimate end of this caused sentences to frequently have double and triple negatives. Combined with the fact that Bizarro's logic is already flawed, this caused some of his dialogue to be very difficult to follow.

I was leaning more towards this:

... Saying/doing the opposite of what you intend.

Being "nice" to you causes hostility from you. Being "mean" to you is a sure fire way to get on your good side. ;)

I actually read, am entertained by, and kinda like belamo, too.

Maybe it's because we share the same first name, through the distortion of translation?

In any case ... (group)

Keep Smilin'!! (*8*)
Chaz :luv:

I'm entertaining the idea of running away with someone … before I've even asked them out on a proper date. :luv::rolleyes:
