Creationism banned from "free schools" in Britain

Student: "How would you explain the origin and meaning of life?"

Dumb religious person: " Well 1 week god was bored and he decided to create the universe so on the first day he...."

And this sound anymore credible???? Really?????

So you have no explanation other than to lash out at other people for their beliefs?

Creationism is based on religious ideals and thus has no place being promulgated in an institution funded by the state.

Societies were built on religious principles. So why are you living in a society that is so fundamentally religious? Maybe you're just in denial. Go start your own country somewhere out in the boondocks and see how many atheist kooks, follow you.

HAHAHA Lashing out??? Really??? It seems to me that it is you who is lashing out at people for their non-belief. However coming from a catholic family it is something I am used to.

I was hardly lashing out I was just trying to show you the other side of the coin, do I think religious people are dumb? No I was simply copying what you wrote in the post that I quoted. Religion works for you that is great!! Just don't try and shove it down my throat with all your fire and brimstone, I get enough of that at all my family functions.

You have that bit backwards; the movement away from tradition IS civilization.
You are aware that science has actually allowed us to fly to the moon already, right?

Actually, in the beginning there was no organized religion and definitely not in any atheist's warped view. So, then, why does it exist today? That's easy: man has progressed into religion and higher civilization.

Flying to the moon. Well, since God created the moon, humanity, rocket fuel, and science itself, I am not surprised.

What? No, you need to re read the thread. I have not lashed out at anybody who hasn't lashed out at me first.

I'm not shoving anything down your throat. You're not obligated to read my posts. So don't read.

In the beginning, we died. Then people came along and started performing prayers and incantations to stop it, but people still died. Then barbers would slice open veins to "let the bad blood out" and people died, but you might call that the first crack at medicine. Then people defied the churches and studied anatomy from real human cadavers and learned more about what can go wrong. And their patients still mostly died. Then, as surgery started to develop, fewer people died. Then doctors discovered microbes and realized that washing their hands and sterilizing things in the operating room would save even more lives. Then we realized the benefits of intensive specific research.

People all still die of course, but not of the same easily avoidable crippling diseases that robbed hundreds of millions of the best decades of their lives. And it has come to pass not because of more prayers and incantations, but because of greater knowledge.

We are surpassing religion and its superstitions. In the beginning we had none of that. We tried it for a few millennia, but it didn't really make anything better. And now we're moving beyond it in our everyday lives.

But if you don't want to join us, you're welcome to stay back in the middle ages. Just remember that when you get sick, don't go to a surgeon, go to a priest.

^^ The difference being, the pictures you quote are from works of fiction, whilst she, the God-warrior is real, as a consequence of her epiphany after the airing of that show, she has changed for the better in real life.

Trying to insult someone who doesn't believe in the supernatural by using a word for a supernatural character is lame.

This thread was about creationism being banned from schools in the UK. Creationists wanted their religious views taught as an alternative to science.

Science is constantly refining its description of things. On the other hand, by claiming God invented everything creationism is static and moribund. Humanity has progressed because it has built up on knowledge previously gained. It is fitting that creationism is rejected, and to deny its proponents a foothold here in the UK.

FFS, like anyone has a choice what a civilisation does. Of what am I in denial?

You have no right to impose your religious beliefs on me, as I have no right to do to you.

Everyone is not of the same religion. So how is it some christians feel they have a right to teach their view of creation? How about scientology? Why not start teaching about Xemu in our schools.

This is about RELIGIOUS BELIEFS being taught in a PUBLIC SCHOOL. For the same reasons courthouses shouldn't have shrines of the ten commandments, religious teachings should not be a part of PUBLIC education.

Well, it's unreasonable to expect the majority to bend over backward to appease every minority that they encounter. Why should they? Christians built the UK. So it's their right to teach or at least acknowledge Christianity in public schools. If you have a problem then why not start your own schools or build your own cities or countries? To force the majority, though, to deny their heritage--because you have other beliefs-- is abnormal.

Traditional Christianity does not support Creationist theories. Most of the Christian churches are comfortable with Evolutionary Theory. That a very few American Evangelical denominations support Creationist theory is not indicative of the wider Christian Church.

I repeat - Creationist beliefs are not supported by the mainstream Christian churches.

Because it is not just the" Christian's" tax dollars that are paying for the public schools. Religion has no place in politics or in Governmental services and practices. If you want a religious education you may go private, how about that?

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/rel...volution-is-compatible-with-Christianity.html

I quote:

The Vatican claims Darwin's theory of evolution is compatible with Christianity

You can expect your announcement to fall on deaf ears, he'll probably just call the Pope the devil/antichrist or something. People this wed to an ideology are seldom redeemable because said ideology controls the thinking process in that any counter thoughts are immediately rejected no matter the grounds or evidence backing it. I think the term is "ideologue".

Actually this happened a while ago in Quebec, in 1998 when they changed the school boards from religious to linguistic boards. There used to be Catholic and Protesant school boards in Quebec, they are now English and French boards.

Now instead of teaching religion they teach what is called Moral and Social Developement. They teach about all religions.

Practicing christians are a minority in this country. And assuming they were the majority, they'd still be fucking wrong.

Dude, don't treat him with any sort of humour, sarcasm or anything other than contempt. People like him are the fucking enemy.

Nothing wrong with agressively taking on that caliber of moron. They need to be told what fucking century they're in.
