Dave Mate!

Ah, the ancestors are speaking to him through the bird.

And what does our little messenger have to say to them?

Words of encouragement, I hope.

Your story continues to captivate, even at this frustratingly "slow" pace - teaching us that we have to be patient and wait for them, not the other way around. It is a common teaching.

Here's hoping that the other expression about waiting and patience comes true - Good Things Come to Those Who Wait.

Thanks for working so hard on developing this wonderful story.

Jag this story is the reason i made an account!! such a good story, i dread reading each new chapter cause i know it will end, but then i just read the whole thing over :P

this is fantastic, i hope u write a new chapter soon ..| :p

Jag, Thanks. Great chapter, but you are keeping us all in suspense !!
The singing bird is happy, so are the ancestors also happy ??
Please continue
Harry

And you have me in suspense, JAG! I hope Dave doesn't lose faith, Ra certainly hasn't. The signs can be so subtle but if their love is true, they both will be able to recognize them. Great chapter.

JustaGuy,
This was a GREAT conclusion to his visit to his ancestors, asking their permission.

Your writing style is very clean, inviting. I feel for both of the guys while reading your words. The snippets of Maori culture that we get to learn is great, too.

I hope their parents are half as understanding as the elders/ancestors were.

I'm looking forward to your next installment.
I know Dave is looking forward to TONIGHT! lol.

Thanks, again, for all of your hard work.

Ra's last words to his ancestors brought tears to my eyes. How wonderfully enlightened he has become through his faith in his ancestors. Now it is Dave's turn to learn the way of the maori. But................ we still have Steve to contend with. I know we are in for some great chapters. Thanks, JAG.

i like it it was very romantic

are you going to keep writing it or no?

What a perfect chapter which made me laugh and almost cry at the same time. :=D:

Chapter 18
"How do you know that the bird just wasn't looking for a worm to eat Ra ?"

Chapter 18
David here carries the tiki, made by my hand, as a symbol of my love for him, a token of togetherness and sharing. I hope you will see in my love for this man, David, that I am being honest and true. We must all be true to ourselves in order to have fulfilling lives. Your acceptance and understanding will, at last, allow me to do this.

I'll have to try and write a chapter that will make you completely cry instead of just 'almost' ;) I'm actually thinking the spiritual stuff at the meeting house turned a few readers off ... never mind. I'm not a particularly spiritual person myself, but I know there are people with the type of commitment and ideas as Ra has. And it's all part of the story ... a sort of cross-cultural saga.

I don't think this story-board is just for making readers have a boner so such kind of different subjects and descriptions making your story richer. Without these things all stories would be same. And to me , i had fun from that meeting house part you show people respect to the ancestors even if they passed away. keep it going , pls ..|

Dear JustaGuy,
I agree wholeheartedly with both you and ToOHard.
This forum allows for a lot of latitude in how to develop a story - any questions, just compare HR's I Thought I Knew biography series to GSDX/Neil's Watching Brad, to Kevin Lonewolf's Zack & Jay.

These present honest, gay love in three different faces - HR's is based on the actual HOT moments in a young couple's lives - w/out splitting hairs.

I have fully appreciated the heavy infusion of the Maori Culture/Customs. My daughter has an online boyfriend who is a Kiwi of oriental descent - any snippets of what life in New Zealand is like is a plus for me.

I don't think I will be hopping in a plane and making the trip any time soon, much as I would love to see the land that played host to the LOTR trilogy and Zena, etc.

Please continue to bring us this tender love story in the fine fashion you have so far. OK, a little more hot sex, now that they have the ancestors' blessings wouldn't hurt my feelings, Lol.

Seriously, it's been a great read, so far. Thank you for working so hard to craft it for us.

Re: Dave Mate !

JAG...just a quick thanks for sharing this delightful story with us. I've just managed to sneak in the first four chapters and I'll certainly be reading the rest. I love your writing style...and Dave and Ra are endearing characters.

Cheers JAG mate!

Bad boy sneaking out the house
wonder if hes there
another good chapter cant wait to see more

I dread the time when either Dave or Ra have to tell their parents. It must come, I know, but still it will be difficult. The little white lies that one is forced to tell can be extremely burdensome.

This is now the beginning for them and hopefully they will be strong in the trials and tribulations yet to come. Another great chapter, JAG.

I just discovered this story and I'm LOVING it!! I rated it Excellent.

Interesting facts about Maori culture...and NZ culture that I, an American, hadn't known. I'm most interested in the language. For example, parents are "my old man" and "my old lady," but never collectively "the olds" in America (that I've ever heard). Actually that usage is a little archaic in America these days; "my old man" is as likely to mean "my boyfriend" as "my father."

I'm really loving the romance of this story. Ra is such a well-drawn, lovable character. I have the strong sense that he's based on an actual person.
