Desperate Housewives - Season Five

I like the show as much as ever. Very creative of them to jump ahead five years.

I think the show has lost it's creative edge. For a soap opera it's not very on your edge of the seat waiting to see what happens kind of a show anymore. In the first few seasons it was more of a soap opera and now it's just a dull show with a little drama and too much camp.
I don't believe the Susan/Brian relationship. Can't get past that either.
Why isn't the Gay couple and Andrew used more in the show. They're just in the background. This could add spice to the show.
If this show doesn't get better I think they should make this the last season.

Maybe because the show is called Desperate Housewives, and they are neither Desperate nor Housewives?

^^DH isn't going anywhere until 2011.

As for the gay couple, hang in there people. Only one episode has aired so far and that had to focus on the housewives and how their lives had changed. Bob and Lee have definitely got more screen-time this season. They would have last season if it weren't for the writers strike.

Tonights episode was really good. I like the 5 year skip because it gives a lot of story to catch up on. Year after year with one big secret is so unreal. Lynette is still my favorite Housewife and Tom is still the sexiest man on Wisteria Lane. And those Scavo Twins are hot....but the other brother??? I'm not to sure about that one.

I wonder if they sell mens clothes where the computer-relationship twin's shirt was bought. Seriously, that was so distracting.

And the "good" shirt that Susan picked out for Brian..er..Jackson was hideous.

Not a good ep for shirts haha. I guess it shows how incredibly bored I was when watching since I was paying more attention to what the people were wearing than the actual story.

When is someone going to wake up from this 5-year-fast-forward dream?

Maybe it's me being desperately hopeful, but we have Porter (I think, not sure which one) who turns out to be this sensitive poetry guy, with clothes that, well, you know, and man-bag. So, you know, maybe he's... well, maybe? ;)

I don't find Tom sexy. He's really boring. But Gabby leaving blind Carlos at the table was funny!! Poor guy. I wonder when they will address his blindness? I miss the old Gabby though. Susan is as annoying as ever. Noticed she went to bed in full hair and make-up. And if it's 5 years in the future wouldn't instant message be like more advanced? lol

I think that the show has not improved at all. I was hopeful last year, with the 5 year jump ahead. But we have just rehashes of the same old storylines. At the end of last season we saw a "celebrity" Bree with a good head on her shoulders (remember?---she was shown choosing to spend an evening with her husband over interviews and such.), but this year she is back to self centered perfection-is-everything Bree.
And don't get me started on Susan and Mike. PLLLLEEEEAAAASE------kill him off!

Why in the hell was Bree actually in the kitchen making him that pot roast??? She was crying also...I don't get that one.

I think it makes sense that she did it. Because Orson had enough of her bullshit. But the crying was confusing and weird to me.

I felt she was crying because she recognized the beginning of the end for them. It probably brought back memories of how things were going down with her 1st husband. She's starting to realize she can never have it all. that it's her and not her husbands. I think they meant that since her first husband was brought up in the radio interview. It was foreshadowing of what was to come. Or else I am clueless and reading into it, lol. Maybe she was crying because she was tired.

Marcia Cross has a masculine personality, it's very sexy.

I LOVE this new season!!!

This last episode was one of my favourites.

They have done an excellent job with this new direction.

Gabby/Carlos: I thought this story line was not going to be interesting, but the dinner scene was epic. I loved how it ended with a strengthening of their relationship, they were the most volatile couple at the start, and now they are probably the most solid.

Scavos: Awesome storyline. So true about relationships between parents and the youths today, in typical Lynette fashion she overstepped her bounds under the 'ends justify the means' reasoning, and it ended up being a great story between her and Porter... there were some hilarious moments too. (I would be pissed off if I were in Porter's shoes)

Hodges: Bree has not changed much, and the episode leading up to Orson's 'snap' was pretty good. I love how the storyline ended up with and exhausted Bree making him his pot roast while crying. It was the inevitable collision of two big parts of their personalities. I am intrigued on how this will play out. Will Orson get violent? Will she dump him quickly?

McCluskey/Edie's Hubby: The psychopath side of Edie's hubby seems to be making its mark. I love where this is going... and Edie may soon be realizing she is a pawn. I love how the writers are putting us on Edie's side on this storyline. McCluskey at the end trying to dig up info on Edie's husband was great, I think it would be awesome if at some point she is the one to save Edie from him. I hope this is a way to keep Edie on the show!!!

Susan: As per usual, she is one of the funniest characters, I liked the development of Gale's character and his relationship with Mike. Showing us that he is more trustworthy and honest than Mike makes me think he is here for a while, although Mike seems to still want Susan.

"Nothing sweety, the answering machine lied to mommy."

I hate what's going on with Bree and Orson.

1) The Bree from past seasons would not have put up with Orson's (probably justified) temper tantrum or cried making a pot roast. The old Bree would have spiked it with poison or stuffed it with some food Orson is allergic to, then cleaned house while watching him die :). Where is good ol' evil, hypocritical Bree? :)

2) Orson should not be surprised that Bree is manically career oriented now. For one, it's completely in character, and two, she seems to be compensating for the loss of Danielle's child.

3) What Orson does need to do is call Bree on her hypocracy. When is he going to point out that she sanctimoniously demanded he go to jail, while in season one she covered up for Andrew committing the exact same crime???

Lynette must be the dumbest person in the world. But I'm glad, because she makes me laugh. :) Of course Porter (?) was going to send her the Yeats poem.

Also, how old is she? Mid forties? She's young enough that she must have at least heard of Friendster/MySpace/Facebook today, let alone five years from now. Again, how dumb is she? On the other hand, Mrs. Landingham* not knowing about "the google" is far more believable.

*I know her name is Mrs. McCulsky, but to me she's always Mrs. Landingham.

Hopefully we get a significant event during November Sweeps and the story moves backwards (like Lost) instead of further forward to help tell the story of why "it" happened.

My favorite scenes in the episode were with Karen McCluskey. I think she's my new favorite character. I felt so bad when she was making sure Edie told Dave that she apologized to Edie. I cannot wait to see Karen and Katherine try to find some dirt on Dave. I love both of them and I hope Katherine has more screen time soon.

I couldn't stand Susan's storyline! For the first time I actually got up and made myself something to eat during one of her scenes. I don't care what happens between her and Mike.

It was hilarious when Lynette signed the breakup email, Love Mom. I haven't laughed that hard while watching DH is a while. And there was a lot of truth to that storyline. I felt really bad for both Lynette and the twin.

Watching Gaby trick Carlos into thinking they were standing in the ballroom getting photographed when they were really just standing in the kitchen was hilarious. What happened to Carlos was so funny. And I loved the conversation when they got back in the car.

So far I'm not liking Bree this season. I loved her the first three seasons, liked her last year (despite trying to poison Katherine.) But now she's just so predictably selfish. I didn't feel bad when Orson made her cook him dinner, but I also felt like Orson was being a bit over dramatic. What happened to a good old fashioned heart to heart?

I also think Karen's new house is really nice.

Can't wait for next week. :D

I thought maybe Bree was crying because Orson may have become abusive and she knew if she didn't cook him his pot roast her ass was gonna get hit. I dunno. It'd be a more interesting storyline than anything else happening so far this season.

that's what i was thinking. but then i thought about the exchange they had about her using "Van De Kamp" on her book. i'd think if he was abusive, she'd know that would set him off. who knows though

I hate that Carlos is still blind and that they use his devastating disabilty for comic relief.

I am really bummed by that as well, you would have thought when they jumped ahead five years they would have written in cure for Carlos. It is getting old, ridicules and perhaps even insulting to those with blind relatives or friends.

Big shout out to Eva for allowing her character to look a little haggard in the new season, it works well and she is a real trooper for going along with it.
No vanity here just do it for the show. :=D:
