Because it's the 10th anniversary and it's helping to raise money for the causes she was devoted to.

Thanks for the reply, even though I'm English (or maybe because of it) I rarely take much notice of any of this stuff, so I had no idea that there even was a 'Concert for Diana' going on.

Wow, Act 4 of Swan Lake was absolutely beautiful. Truely a treat to see. I think the Ballet will soon see an increase in attendance. lol

I am pleased that the boys did what they had to to pull that off.

I find it amazing how much her death has bothered me even to today.

I liked Diana for her for her anti-mine publicity and her care and compassion for the AIDS and charity work she did. I think her sons have become fine young men, who knows what the future holds...

The concert I deliberately missed. There was other stuff to do.

i'm canadian by choice not birth.
i love canada
but why should i be loyal to a foreign monarch
it's bad enough i have look at her face everyday on my money
i'd rather have pierre trudeau on our money
he be cool


but i'm fascinated why the americans love the royal family

didn't you guys have this great big war to kick them out in 1776

Just a few clarifications...July 1st is Princess Diana birthday...wasn't the day of her accident.

And I think the reason for the empty seats were that some people were afraid of the recent threats in the UK, and decided not to go.

You don't have to be loyal to a foriegn monarch. I doubt they care if you hate them or not. It's not like they are trying to invade Canada or something, they just sit there and control the British Army and go around the world showing their face to keep up good relations with other countries and Britain. They are also involved in tons of charity work, and because of their status, they are able to raise a lot of money for those charities. That was one of the reasons for the Concert for Diana yesterday.

Of course I can't change your mind of the Royal Family, and you still haven't given a real reason for hating them so much.

I thought Diddy stole the show. The other artists recycled old hits. His material seemed to be catered for the occasion and audience reaction appeared to be very supportive.
I also thought the final sequence of home movies of Dianas' childhood, with Freddie Mercury singing in the background was beautiful and poignant.
Here in the US the show was only an hour long, was it televised longer in Canada & the UK?

The telecast has just finished here in Oz (Mon night) and it went for nearly three hours. Very entertaining it was, too.

actually if you had turned on Vh1 all day they showed the whole 6 hours....NBC just did an hour long recap at 8 oclock...Vh1 went from 11-5:30ish I watched it all while I was at work

and I would def say Diddy did not steal the show...if anyone recycled anything it was him...that was almost exactly the same performance he did at the VMA's when that song first came out except this time he didn't mention Biggy(who the song was actually about)

and if anyone watched the VH1 coverage....Ahmer and katie(i think that was her name) mentioned that although Elton had retired singing Candle IN The Wind at Diana's funeral....the prince's asked him to sing it and they said that he was gonna do it....he didn't....i was a bit dissapointed
