^ Yes, I remember the song and Buddy Holly and Ritchy Valens. "The day the music died."

Jules Verne and the matter of Journey to the Center of the Earth?

a la Rick Wakeman? I saw him live. It was great. I see he was back touring in 2012.

You guys should get together. You'd make a great song-writing team.

:-) :-)

Alas, I fear my recognition of the lyrics would tell my age.

I can't write a song to save my life, I never learned how to read music, but I can sing a song or two. ;)

Your in good company on the age of the lyrics you recognise.

I can remember when TV shows were live and not prerecorded. The commercials were live too and usually the star from the show would give a spiel for the product and sometimes demonstrate it and sometimes mess up.

This concept is back on the Jimmy Kimmel show! (The show is prerecorded but presented 'live', along with a sponsor segment every few days)

Remember when you had to stick the key into the key hole on your car to unlock the door?

I still do! I had to send one of my employees out to my car the other day to haul in some bottled water and he came back in empty handed because he couldn't figure out how to unlock it. I am now officially old. (The K Car is, after all, 6 years older than the kid I sent out to get the stuff.)

LoL

There is a joke about a lady whose remote unlock's battery died - a guy came along and assisted her by manually unlocking the door, then advising her to get to the dealer PROMPTLY to have it replaced.

My wife's car has an aftermarket remote car starter - it HAS TO BE unlocked with the fob or the alarm goes off.
Which, on occasion, we still have to do due to circumstances beyond our control.

Give it a few years and people will be saying the same thing as far as STARTING the car - just have it in proximity and push the button.

You handed him a key and told him to go to your car, and key in hand he goes to the car and can't figure out that the key fits a lock on a door or the trunk, and the key is to be turned to release the lock just like every other key and lock he's ever used on any other door anywhere since he was old enough to turn a doorknob and like every car-ignition key he's ever seen used or used himself.

You bought that?

You bought that?

Yes. To be fair, the keyhole for the trunk is hiding behind the Pentastar Chrysler logo, and you have to move it to insert the key. And the guy isn't the brightest bulb in the box, either. He's a good kid but has caused my hair to go grayer on several occasions. ](*,)

^ Freddie might have been a good dancer, but remember this: Ginger Rogers did everything Fred did but she did it backwards and in high heels.

;)

Do you remember when kids used to make a 'thumb whistle' with a blade of grass?

Yes I do.

Do you remember catching fireflies in mayonnaise jars with punched lids at night?
(Or was it too cool in your neck of the woods?)

Nope. We had them. Lots of them. I used to like looking at them more than catching them. They make an incredible light show. Don't see them in the city much. Not enough long grass for them. You have to go to the outskirts of the city to see them.
