Doctor Who 2011

^ I agree it feels like its been forever...really not looking forward to when this season finishes though, I've read the next season will be split over two years :(

The only thing about bringing back Donna is that if you bring her back and give her back her memories, she dies. It was spelled out pretty clearly in her final episodes.

It's another way of saying, "We can't afford Catherine Tate."

I wish the second half of the series would just come out already. arg!

It's coming out on the 27th August right?

It will be the best bday present ever.

You're kidding me! that sucks so hard! I don't think they make enough as it is :P

That will be great, settling down after an awesome day to watch a bit of the Doctor. :D

Looking forward to it even more now! Also in the clip are those the same glasses that 10 wore occasionally?

^ Interesting. I haven't really been following the DW rumors. She's cute. And kind of fierce. I wouldn't mind if she's the companion.

From her 4 seconds appearance in that trailer, I like her already. But no one can be fiercer than Donna and River Song.

Amy is probably the worst written companion. Unlike the other companions, she has no "flesh". We don't know much about her life, her family, her battles... at least, Martha, Donna and Rose were more believable than Amy. I am ready for a change.

My hopes for a new companion are/were:

- British person of South/East Asian descent (hasn't been done yet which is strange considering that the UK has a large Asian population).

- a lone male companion

- a "foreigner" as in not british

- an alien

But I'm sure it will be yet another Sexy Young Lady Who Kind of Has A Thing For the Doctor.

Honestly, there were many times where I secretly wish I am the Doctor's companion. After all I match your hopes: South Asian + Male + Foreigner + and maybe Alien (well right after every morning)

I am done with the Doctor falling in love with his companion. I like how fierce and independent Martha and Donna were. Martha was like "fuck you I am a doctor too" and Donna was just Donna.

I'd like to see a lone male companion for the doctor as well. That's one thing I like about Pond, though. She comes with Rory.

Anyone else think mels is some regeneration of MELody pond? just a random thought.

There remains the need to explain the little girl who regenerated at the start... Mel may be her.

As for companions - I love Donna, and even though I had my reservations about Martha at the start, I really really dug her as a companion.

Martha was an awesome companion. I blame bad writing. The writers could have used her in so many ways.

Plus I don't think Mels is Melody. She looks mixed. Half black, half white kinda girl.

Love River, and love Alex Kingston in the role. Apparently the producers were initially courting Kate Winslet for the role but conflicting schedules and whatnot meant they couldn't get her.

Still and amazing character.

Thatgirl, check your comments! LOL

^ I think Time Lord DNA allows for one to regenerate into a different race or gender.

But we don't really know much about Melody's Time Lord traits, plus she's a hybrid so...Who knows. *shrug*

I just want a new companion. Get on w/ it, showrunners.

Ding Ding Ding, you got it right. Mels (and the actress playing here) was brilliant. IMO, the twist came too soon. Her character, style and fierceness clearly impressed me. Good acting too. I felt that Doctor Who, from Doctor 9 onwards, had some pretty shitty female leads but River and Mels make up for it.

My only problem with this episode is the brief appearance of Mels. She should have stayed longer.

Ok so where do we start? Mels transformation to River. Woah. I can actually see the similarities between them. Just like all the doctors, there is always something that doesn't change. River is basically Mels and I'm glad because I wanted more Mels. I was almost worried that Mels could easily steal River's spot as Awesome Female Character in the entire known universe.

Rory not dieing in this episode. I almost thought this wasn't a Doctor Who episode.

This episode gave more questions and less answers. Finally, they got around explaining a bit of River's history. How they met, how she didn't possess any Doctor-like abilities even though she was on the same level as the Doctor. The blue book. Her time in archeology. The same girl in the NASA uniform transformed into Mels but we have no idea how she got there to be with young Pond and Rory.

We know River is going to die. We also know that she mentioned the Doctor's life and her life is on two opposite path. So it's going in opposite directions. In that case, I know this might not be the case, technically this the last time they are going to meet right? So when Doctor 11 whispered to River, he was telling his name to her and she will use it "later" with Doctor 10 in that library scene.

Anyone else thought it was funny when Doctor was working around the voice interface thing. First Rose. Then he wanted something more guiltier. Martha. I lost it. Finally the writers are catching on. Then more guiltier. I started crying when Donna appeared.

And a gay Rory? I can only wish.

Finally we get to see more of Amy's life. It's like she almost didn't even exist to anyone.

I'm glad they avoided the whole Hitler plot though I wish they didn't include it in the first place.

Looks like the next episode is going to be spooky. Eek, talking large dolls.

"He's gorgeous, he's my favourite guy, he's y'know... gay"

Damn, almost had him on our side :P

Was an awesome episode and Mels was great. But it always irks me slightly when Moffat introduces things out of nowhere to serve the plot. And he is certainly good at that.
