Doctor Who 2011

I really enjoyed it, even though Moffit fooled me completely. I thought red bowtie Dr. was a ganger and blue bowtie the real Dr. But red bowtie was the real doctor and blue bowtie the teselectra. (Although he was inside it.)

I loved. loved, loved machine gun toting Amy: "Pond...Amy Pond."

Enjoyed the visuals of the mashed up world.

As always Alex Kingston was the highlight for me. And what a naughty Doctor making secret conjugal visits to River!

Matt Smith is filming the Christmas special now (Amy and Rory are in it, but it just may be a cameo.) and has signed up for a third series. People seem to think it'll be his last.

I just read that 2013 will be the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who, and folks are expecting fireworks.

I felt this episode tied things up pretty neatly, but still left a few questions unanswered. I do agree the pace was very hectic, but they had a lot to cover in 45 minutes.

And for some reason we don't get those "prequels" on BBC America. Probably so they can fit in another commercial.

^^With regard to the Tardis I've read some stuff on other forums which confuse me, but as far as I can tell:

1) River was driving the Tardis when it exploded. Supposedly this was revealed in some Doctor Who interview with River/Alex that we didn't see in the U.S.

2)As best as I understand it, the Silence programmed her to blow it up to kill the Doctor, but they didn't realize it would end the universe. So they went to plan B, Lake Silencio.

I may have this a bit muddled, and I not certain whether or not Point 2 is an established fact or fan speculation.

That's the thing - there's just no clear cohesion about the whole affair... it's a lack of good story-arc planning, and lack of communication.

So much about this seasons seems to be 'afterthoughts'.

I am looking forward to series 7 because it is supposed to be a return to the Russel T. Davies format. Stand alone stories with a running mythos and a big finale with a big bad. Not that these past two seasons haven't done that but it comes across like someone trying too hard to be clever with all the timey wimey crap. Infact, I would say that these past two seasons have been in my mind, very lackluster. Even Steven Moffat's episodes have been very lacking. He was usually the best writer during the Russel T. Davies era, now I cringe at the developments he has made for the series. He ruined the Weeping Angels in Series 5 and I am sick to death of River Song, I started out liking her awhile back but she is just too smug for words. Another problem is the lack of character development with the main companion, Amy. She does not grab me as a worthwhile companion like the others have in the past. She comes across cold and selfish. Has she ever thought about her family?! Nope, through much of series 5 they were erased from history and when they were restored you would think she would want to spend time with them. Nope! Then this season with her baby being taken away, again no emotion whatsoever unless it serves the plot. The thing I liked about the Russel T. Davies era was that the characters had connections to home, this made the show more accessible. These characters don't seem to have families, they take off whenever they like without a thought for home and family. There is also no real sense of fun with the show. Just a bunch of aww gee whiz moments of too cool for school moments, ie, "River in Berlin looking for an outfit." Anyway, I would rather see Rory as the main companion but at this point that is unlikely to happen. So I look forward to a new companion or maybe a familiar companion once they restore the real reality. *We all now that this is an alternate reality right?! Those seem to be big trend in movies/tv lately.

I do like when different Doctors interact with each other.

I'm really looking forward to the Christmas special, feels like its been ages since the finale.

I really did expect this to happen given how this season finished. I'll miss them though, definitely my favorite companions so far

I cried a little. The whole Mother-Christmas, Your-Dad-Is-Dead plot...

I enjoyed the christmas special. It did seem a bit silly to me but all the christmas specials are really. Can't wait for the next series to see how they are going to tie up the companions stories and if this means River is gone too.

Enjoyed it immensely. Clair Skinner was wonderful as Madge.

It was very much a children's episode, which I guess takes the show back to its roots.

I loved the last scene with Amy and the humany-wumany tear from the Doctor.

This year's was sooo much better than the crap they have been giving us each year. I must say it found a nice balance between having a story at Christmas and not allowing Christmas to over power it. I hope we see Madge again next series.

Loved the Christmas episode.

It wasn't a big, brash, end of the world, aaaargh, type episode and it's great to have some variety. It just felt "Christmasy" too. Sometimes, just sometimes, everybody lives. And for once, it wasn't actually the Doctor who saved the day!

It's a great thing about Doctor Who, the show is constantly evolving and the Christmas ep showed that.

I thought it was a bit shmaltzy to be honest. It should have been a bit braver, for the sake of the kids of fathers and mothers who won't come home this Christmas.

I thought the christmas special was pretty good, I wonder when the next series airs.
