Doctor Who Season 3

According to today's Sun newspaper Martha is being axed at the end of this series. Apparently the producers don't feel she's as strong as she started out. Mind you this is from a tabloid newspaper so I don't know if it's true or not.

I'm back and ready to respond to this thread again!!

Tonight for me it will be a doctor who marathon as I watch the two episodes I missed well I was in the hospital and then tonight's episode! (!)

As for Martha getting the boot....I don't know what to think....so far I just annoyed that she keeps trying at every turn to get the Doctor to like her and it's distracting for me.

as for the Daleks and the Cybermen, they will be back! There just in the void. If a dalek can survive crashing through time and space and then scream in a pit for 3 days before anybody could get near it. Then being sent to nothingness should be a cake walk....right?

Well tonight's episode was really good with a great cliffhanger ending. Again the villains weren't that scary (after seeing the Scarecrow in Batman Begins these scarecrows were nothing). Really intrigued about the boy with the watch. Who is he and how does he "know" things? Is he the only one from reality (when he bumped into Martha and we saw him in the present)?

i don't know, i think kids will find the scarecrows scary. i thought tonights episode was excellent. i loved it. i don't think we "saw" him in the present time, i think it was the watch putting him in someone else's place mentally...i'm not explaining that well...but anyway. great episode.

And screwnutty...what were ya in the hospital for! eek. i hope you are doing ok. best to rest up with plenty of Doctor Who. ;)

Wow.... "Human Nature" was awesome. I didn't want it to end and when it did, I watched it again. I have to say that it's the best episode this year for season 3. The ending though I feel cheated! :( (cause I have to wait 7 more days to see what happens!)

The preview clips show him marring the girl and they have kids. Maybe this is how there going to explain why he had a granddaughter and how the 8th doctor (fox tv's movie) said that he was half human. who knows.

Mike_N_herrin, I was in the hospital for an irregular heartbeat. It runs in the family on bothsides and also because I caught a nasty case of pneumonia. I'm on medication and the doctor says that the medication should correct the irregular heartbeat in time.

That's good to hear.

My mate keeps saying that they're basically forgetting about the tv movie that was made (I was asking him what happened with the Master at the end of the movie) but I noticed an image of Paul McGann in the book where the Doctor had drawn his previous incarnations so they haven't forgotten about the 8th Doctor.

I wonder if they'll bring back Susan like they did for The Five Doctors? They brought back Sarah Jane after all.

i've read on the spy forums that some folks think this is how we get susan. but i'm thinking it can't be.

here is why: In order for the 1st doc to know he had a granddaughter, he'd have to know he had kids before that. i would presume he knew who he had a kid with and so all his incarnations should know that he was "with" a girl in 1913 on earth right? maybe that's just not a good argument i don't know, but i'm thinking the kids/family thing is a flash of some sort. maybe "the family" is trying to bribe him or something, show him what he's missing.

could be....you could be right!

Course I reminded of last episode of season one. "Parting of the Ways" where Rose says to the doctor this....

Rose: But I can. The sun and the moon, the day and night... but why do they hurt?
The Doctor: The power's gonna kill you, and it's my fault!
Rose: I can see everything. All that is. All that was. All that ever could be.
The Doctor: That's what I see -- all the time. And doesn't it drive you mad?

****

My guess is that the doctor knows what has happened to him and what is going to happen to him based on this quote....yet then again in the shakespear episode he didn't know what he did to Queen Victoria. Sooooo It's hard to say.

Hey Angelfan,

I seen the fox movie back in 1998 and if you want me to know what happens to him then look in between the stars....if not just scroll pass it! I too am looking forward to see how he comes back into Who ville! ;) As for forgetting the 8th movie. No they've acknowledge it now both with the picture in the sketch book and when David meet Sarah in School Reunion when he tells her that he's regenerated about 6 times since she last saw him. 4th doctor plus 6 regens = 10 doctor. :)

************************************************
the master gets sucked into the eye of harmony. He used up all his life force and all that left of him is a snake like spirit form. He can no longer regenerate.
************************************************

yeah BBC acknowledges the movie and P McG as the 8th Doctor. it's in the episode guide for the classic series here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/classic/episodeguide/index.shtml

But they also say this in the continuity section: http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/classic/episodeguide/tvmovie/detail.shtml
"The Doctor is half human, on his mother's side. This is news to the Master. [And to us.]

The TARDIS has been impressively redesigned, and includes a [link to] the Eye of Harmony as a power source. "

It also says about the Master: "The Master's ashes have shape-changing abilities [Time Lords can obviously regenerate even when their bodies are severely destroyed, but are unable to regenerate into a full human body, assuming instead that of a snake-like being that can possess other beings]."

Did anyone else find that human nature was a bit boring to begin with and only go interesting in the last fifthteen minutes?

i don' think they will bump martha, the first two seasons were to remind us/tell us how the rest of the seasons wil be working, kinda like a prologue, i think that Martha will be there for at least another season or two, not sure about david tennant though.

next week looks good though!

Thanks for the reminder about what happened to the Master in the tv movie. So it'll be interesting to see how they explain his return.

It was only my mate that thought they were choosing to ignore the tv movie and the 8th Doctor. I'll put him in his place next time I see him.

No no no no no.
I liked Human Nature. The storylines this season have all been a little hit and miss to be honest, but I thought the Scarecrows were pretty scary. Reminded me of some of the older Sylvester McCoy episodes like "The greatest show in the galaxy" etc.
Creeped me out totally. Loved it!

The Eighth Doctor is part of Who history they don't leave him out and they have made a load of audio books with the Eighth Doctor and his adventures some are quite good as well all set before the time war so they don't have to worry about things like they do in the new series.

Paul McGann is quite good as the Doctor and really I think he would be quite good on the screen as well, the Movie was too American but I expect he would do a good job.
Maybe they will make an animation from one of his audio books.

Plus the 8th Doctor was the one who was involved in the Time War with the Daleks. It has been rumoured that it was his character who was there at the fall of Arcadia and that he regenerated into Egglestion 9th doctor form.

The guy who played Shakespeare in episode 2 (Dean Lennox Kelly) was pretty hot - in a bear-ish kinda way...

I agree. That's why this is still my desktop. :D
(that and because I just liked the episode so much)

I quite liked Human Nature, though it's not my favourite.

I thought Paul McGann was good as the Doctor and would've liked to have seen more of him. I actually quite like the movie.

Heads Up My Fellow Who Fans!!!

Sneak Peek At How Jack Meets Up With The Doctor in the episode called "Utopia"

Yes, How does Jack survive being on the outside of the tardis in flight??

/\ omg how did you get that! never mind i see it's a youtube....but where did they "they" get that? lol

Ok though..hold the phones. the end of torchwood definitely made it look/sound like the tardis had materialized INSIDE the headquarters. i mean why would jack's hair start blowing and papers get scattered around if it hadn't? then that clip above shows him running to the tardis and some how surviving a time vortex outside the tardis. also, why wouldn't the other guys have seen jack on the way in (unless he used that elevator thing up to the top). why wouldn't the doctor have waited for jack when he saw him on the view screen, as far as the doctor knew jack had died in the future, so wouldn't he have at least been curious?

^ okay Mike I'm going to try to answer your questions.

1. Yes the end of torchwood looks like the tardis had materialized inside of HQ. BUT we never saw it. Just the wind and the noise. I think the hole in the roof of the HQ blew the air down and as for the sound. same reasoning too.

2. Shields. Like the shields the tardis puts up in "Parting of the ways" I think that how Jack Survived. The Tardis must be covered in a shield. Same when Tate opened the doors in the christmas special and didn't get sucked into space. Also the shields held when the daleks fired missles at the tardis in flight!

3. He must have used the roof elevator

4. Why did the doctor upon seeing Jack hit the switch so fast? why did it only take a few mins this time to regenerate the fuel supply....last time the tardis had to sit on the spot for 24 hours!! I'm thinking that the doctor didn't want to have anything to do with Jack because the doctor knows he runs torchwood. The doctor found out everything about torchwood via the cellphone during the christmas special remember. Maybe the Doctor doesn't want Jack around anymore...remember jack is missing two years worth of memories and I'm starting to wonder if the Doctor knows more then he knows.

and finally.....

Why did the tardis go ape shit when jack jumped on it and sent the doctor and crew to the year 100 million, the end of the universe as the doctor says? we have to wait two more weeks to find out i guess!!

I don't know i'm torn. i think it could be a continuity error. other folks think so too here at this youtube clip:

there are about 2 pages of comments. ;)

edit: in a sec...

ok...yeah i think i can agree with the forcefield. Although historically the Tardis never had a force field...at least that i can remember. in fact i thought prior to the end of season 1 of the new Who, it was specifically stated the Tardis didn't have shields.

i can also see how jack could hear the tardis below where it landed. i mean jackie and mickie heard it a couple times didn't they from like a few blocks away? now the air thing...well i don't know that seems iffy.

i think the Tardis freaking out when it jack jumped it must have something to do with the Tarids energy that Rose used to bring jack back to life (and make him immortal or whatever is going on there).
