Re: Name Your Favorite Donna Summer Album!

I really like the VH1 live and more cd,mostly for the song:My life.I also like the version of Dim all the lights that she does on it.The dvd is great too...|

Re: Name Your Favorite Donna Summer Album!

Boy, you are digging them up, emo...

I dunno, I guess I'd have to go with 'The Wanderer' if I had to choose.
Donna was very much a 'studio singer', and not all that great live...

Her producer, who's name I'm blanking on at the moment...oh, wait, it was
Giogio Moroder, or something like that, had as much to do with her success as she did...

It's tempting to go with the album with "Love to Love You, Baby" ...

Before disco became a joke, I think this was fairly good stuff...
Studio singer? She sounds fantastic, one of the best voices in music, and so much range!if she's the product of studio work, damn there are a LOT of singers today who should book the people responsible pronto!;)

Re: My Donna Summer Collection

i don't have any of her albums but i've got a bunch of her singles. :)

Re: My Donna Summer Collection

Bad Girls is Def. My Fave Album, "Another Time And Place" coming in at second, "Donna Summer" coming in 3rd, "Love To Love You" coming in at 4th, and finally "I remember Yesterday" rounding out the top 5

Re: My Donna Summer Collection

I've owned the albums Walk Away, On The Radio, and the cassette Endless Summer.

Endless Summer is my favorite since it has the 80's songs I'm A Wanderer, Finger On The Trigger, and This Time.

I recently heard the long version of MacArthur Park and like it a lot.

I'm planning on getting the Christmas album.

Re: My Donna Summer Collection

I love Donna's version of "Could It Be Magic". Also, it was pretty brave of her to walk away from the disco that was her trademark to do more rock-ish music (Tje Wanderer, Cold Love, etc).

Re: My Donna Summer Collection

Bad Girls LP for "Journey to the Center of your Heart> One Night In a Lifetime"

Plus the so many other good songs on this album.

Donna Summer readies her comeback album

Donna Summer will break a 17-year drought of studio albums with all new material thanks to a new deal with Sony BMG's Burgundy Records. Dubbed "Crayons," the project will arrive May 20.

Summer is working with a wide range of collaborators, including Danielle Brisebois, Greg Kurstin, JR Rotem, Lester Mendez and Evan Bogart.

"My dream is that when people hear the music it will remind them of their youth, their childhood and the joy and wonderment they felt exploring their first pack of crayons," Summer says.

Summer's last album of completely new material was 1991's "Mistaken Identity" (Atlantic). Since then, she has released holiday and live albums, as well as 1996's "I'm a Rainbow," featuring tracks originally cut in 1981.

Re: Donna Summer readies her comeback album

I'm curious to hear this one. She's done some good stuff in the past (and some not so good).

Happy to see she's working with Danielle Brisebois. I really like her songwriting.

Re: Donna Summer readies her comeback album

I'm just praying they live the ProTools off. :)

Danielle Brisebois. Is that little Stephanie from All In The Family?

Danielle Brisebois. Is that little Stephanie from All In The Family?

The one and only! She's been writing, producing and performing music for a while now. Probably, her highest profile projects have been being part of the New Radicals (remember the song "You Get What You Give"?) and writing some great songs for Clay Aiken's first album. I know, I know, it's Clay Aiken, but the songs really are good :)

Re: Donna Summer readies her comeback album

I hope she uses her real voice to the full potential, and no I am not talking about the high notes...

Donna Summer : "Crayons"

Legendary singer songwriter Donna Summer is back with her first studio album in 17 years. In the thirty plus years that Donna Summer has been making music she has never confined her artistry to just one genre. Although Donna is, and will always be, "The Queen Of Disco" to many fans, her hits have spanned multiple musical genres from Rock to R&B to Inspirational and of course, Dance.

Summer helped to define the 70's pop music generation and Crayons has all the characteristics that made Donna an icon. Containing a potent mix of the up-tempo tunes and ballads, the new album showcases incredible new material that is written by Donna (who wrote or co-wrote the majority of her hits of the 70's and 80's). Working with Donna were renowned writers and producers including: Greg Kurstin (Lilly Allen, Pink), Danielle Brisebois (Natasha Bedingfield, New Radicals), JR Rotem (Sean Kingston, Rihanna), Evan Bogart (co-writer of Rihanna's smash "SOS" and the son of legendary record executive, Casablanca Records founder and Donna's mentor, Neil Bogart), and Lester Mendez (Shakira, Santana).

"Crayons" will be available on May 20.

Here's the official tracklist:

01. Stamp Your Feet
02. Mr. Music
03. Crayons (featuring Ziggy Marley)
04. The Queen is Back
05. Run With It
06. Sand On My Feet
07. Drivin' Down Brazil
08. I'm A Fire
09. Slide Over Backwards
10. Science of Love
11. Be Myself Again
12. Bring Down The Reign
