Well it's pretty clear why you think i do it.
If the whole pole was against the gifs of course i wouldn't do them, as it is, and as i thought previously, most either love them or don't care.
I'm sure it wasn't the result Borg was after when he came up with the idea, but there it is. the people have spoken.

I see absolutely no reason to believe that whatsoever since 4 out of 10 dislike it and you could give a rat's ass. What difference would a few more people make to you? Yes, the reason you do it is to show your contempt. And then you guys always fall back on the "it's allowed, it's how we express ourselves" excuse. A gif is a means of expression, yes, like a hammer is a tool. You can use it to build something or you can hit people in the head with it. I'm yet to see clever on topic or expressive use of gif posting. I've seen lots of it to throw dirt in the eyes of people you don't like or who you know dislike the gif spamming. That's about it, actually.

That's certainly the dumb innocent game you play about it, yes. But it's not true. There are plenty of people who use gifs a lot, as part of discussion, and they're <gasp> somehow relevant to it, and <gasp> not just a tribute or attention sign for themselves and their little fake online romances, and somehow <gasp> I never wind up having any negative comment or reaction to them.

Watch how thatgirl uses gifs. She knows how to actually use one to enhance a point in a discussion, or make a relevant point.

"Look at me I'm here facepalming at all of you" isn't a point, it's a jibe.

Or maybe you just never have any point to make at all? I could believe that too. But it wouldn't change the fact that you use it in a mindless spammy way that either has nothing to do with a discussion or is faintly disrespectful of a discussion or the people in it.

I love thatgirl, but if I remember correctly she overused gifs absolutely, sometimes three or four in one post.

The fact that you and Bender are unable to distinguish between gifs that make a point and gifs that are just glee spam doesn't surprise me.

Probably my least favourite aspect of them is the genre that portrays basically racist imagery of the dumbest ghetto-esque stereotypes.

Have you ever had really good carrot cake? The cake is moist and flavorful, but the baker used too much of a heavy, overly sweet frosting that basically detracted from the enjoyment of the main event, the cake, rather than enhancing it. That's how I see gifs. In moderation they add to the enjoyment of the main event, the thread. Used too heavily, they kill it. The discussion and the gifs both have their places. That is just my opinion, for whatever it is worth.

*I* only made the first post, and didn't post in that thread again. You guys, however did Gif -Bomb the thread, even though it was a NO GIF thread. My intent was to see what the real numbers were, and I got them. I think they speak pretty clearly for themselves.
