Drive-in's

There's one abuot 10 miles or so from me. Last time I went was in 2007 to see the movies Harry Potter and Hairspray. I had a blast!

Oh WOW....there are 2 within 20 miles of me that are still open. They are playing crummy movies but I think that it would be fun to go on a date with guy to one....hmmm.....:gogirl:

well...nice thought anyways. :(

I wonder if they are in bad areas.... never heard of either of them.

Yes, we have ONE of the few remaining Drive-In-Theatres left in the West ......

It's located next door to the Rancho Fiesta Hotel/Casino and the North Las Vegas Airport and they even show first run shows there too!

It was opened way back in 1966 and has 4 screens, I think now (use to have 6; but two blew down and they never rebuilt them).(*8*)

For theaters, they have torn all of the ones that i know of around me. The land became way to valuable to keep.

But we still have the company that started California's first drive-thru hamburger stand.

And Drive-in movies still exist? lol. I went to one when i was younger in Culver City, CA. but since then I didnt know they were around still itd be nice to go to one

The only one I know of for sure here in Texas is the one in my hometown where my parents still live. It's right by the high school.

The first time I ever went to that drive-in was when my sister took me. I was about 6 years old and had been sick and throwing up for several days. Then on that Friday afternoon I was finally feeling better so my sister took me to the drive-in to see Star Wars.

Ah, memories. How I miss those wonderful care-free days of childhood.

I'm thinking of going again. Does anyone still go to drive in movies?

I've only ever been to a drive-in theater once. Our radio didn't work so we couldn't hear the movie, so we got a refund and left. It closed down shortly after that. Do drive-in theaters still exist?

I've never even seen one before.

I don't think many exist anymore since they aren't that profitable in this day and age.

You two guys need to coordinate your INFORMACIONES. (OK, don't ask why I put it in Spanish. OK. Because I can.) I didn't realize there was an operating drive-in in the greater Detroit area. Is it in one of the western suburbs, or perhaps around Roseville? I can most imagine it around those places.

If they could sell food there then they could be very profitable.
they generally DO sell food, though not like a restaurant - it's all takeaway. Whenever I was at a drive-in...when I was a kid and went with parents...they always ran the films promoting the concession stand. And yes I remember the dancing hot dog one specifically, I think it was very common. A drive-in without food probably wouldn't have attracted enough people, because a night at the drive-in was always at least close to four hours if not longer...and people tended to get restless when they had to change the films etc. A perfect time to be selling food...[OK LUKEE YOU'RE IN UK...are you saying that UK drive-ins do not have a food concession?]

Hey, if I get out to the Northwest again, maybe they'll happen to be showing something that would appeal to both of us.

I guess that summer time is a good time to resurrect this thread once again.

Drive-in theaters are a vanishing breed.

Once upon a time, there were common in American pop culture.

Today, there are handfuls left, that remain a sentimental link to the American love affair with the automobile.

Rochester once had four large complexes (Rochester Drive In, Central Drive In, StarLite Drive In, and the Empire Drive In). They were all gone by the early 1980s.

As a kid, I remember going to the Conesus Drive In, in Lakeville, NY, when we spent time up at our cottage. I was an ADD kid, and I would get bored being cooped up in our non-air conditioned car, watching a movie with my parents. My brother and I would go to the kids playground, which, I suspect, the theater owners had in the back corner of the drive in, so parents could have some sanity time.

Today, there are drive-in theaters in Avon, NY (20 miles south of Rochester), and Perry, NY (40 miles south of Rochester)

I haven't been to a drive-n theater in years. The movie was "Angels in the Outfield." That particular drive-in is torn down now.

The Mustang Drive-In here never closed, went as a kid.
Our local VW dealer is buying it out for a night next week and inviting all their customers, we're going.
Spiderman and MIB3 - I'll letcha know how it went.

My local one opens late spring and closes at the end of summer. They do tend to show an assortment of different kinds of movies.

Have fun.

If I end up going I will be seeing Spiderman and Batman.

Ahhh, the drive-in, I love the place. I know of 3-4 different ones I can go to, normally go to the one outside my home town. A new owner owns it and has plans to add a second screen and modernizing it which I can't wait, what sucks though is that popcorn has went up a few dollars. DX then again, 8 bucks for 2 movies, why not? This week, Spiderman and MIB3. I can't go though. DX

The other one I go to does 3 movies for 8 dollars, but rumour has it that this year is it's last.

You are lucky. Here it is $18 for two movies, up to 3 people. It is then $5 extra for each person after the first 3. Children three and over count as a person. It adds up real quick.

I go to the Drive-in almost every weekend in the summer. I have one a few blocks away that has six screens. Its called the Redwood Drive-in. Fun to bring a cooler of beer and sit out on lawn chairs.
