Holy fuckers!!!!! The snake part was so beyond disgusting...specially when the chopped snake parts were still moving on the plate. YUCK!!!!!!!!!!

Another thing that is beyond sickening is that I know in some countries they try to have the animal suffer before they kill it because they believe that the adrenaline makes the meat taste better. It is so horrible of them.

I remember seeing a short movie about treatment of dogs in areas where they eat them. They picked up dogs by the tail and smashed them into the ground or whacked them with hammers before cooking them.

You should watch Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern. He travels to different parts of the world to see how other cultures eat. In a lot of places, they eat raw and/or live parts of animals.

If you're a vegetarian, I can understand how you feel about respect, but if you eat meat and/or wear fur and leather, I don't think you're any different from the people in the clip.

Because there is no difference in wanting an animal to be killed as humanely as feasibly possible before it is eaten and purposely (a requisite of that competition, as revealed at the end, was to make sure the animal was ALIVE after all the cutting and boiling, etc.) keeping it alive while cooking and maiming it, right?

It's a different culture, and all too easy to cross the line into tarring with the same brush and blanket statements of strong disgust about whole swathes of people.

The slaughter of animals for meat goes on all over the world.

When you stun an animal to go to slaughter, its still alive. Stunning just makes then unconscious, cutting their throats and letting the blood drain is what really kills them.

As for the snake's beheading, that's no more different to lopping off the head to say an eel. Eels move even after their heads have been removed through involuntary muscle spasm. It's like beheading a chicken and having the headless body run around the yard. The twitching snake bits are muscular spasms.

As for the fish, I would say it could feel pain, and the pain would have sent it into shock. It reminds me of thinking about the horror the people who got caught up in the Australian bush fires a little while back. I wonder how long they continued breathing and thrashing around whilst they died in agony.

Killing "humanely" is an oxymoron to me. The bottom line is that meat ends up in your mouth and in your stomach. Why are you so concerned about the pain the animal went through if the end result is its consumption? In the wild, animals are eaten alive constantly. Do you want to go out in the wild and "humanely" kill every gazelle and zeebra before they're eaten by lions and hyenas? Do you eat lobster? They're put in the pot living. Pigs and cows are slaughtered by being cut and bleeding to death. I read pigs are dunked in a tank of hot water. If they aren't already dead they drown to death. I just don't like how Asians were singled out when anyone who eats meat is in the same position. Just because you don't actually kill your food it doesn't make you better than the people in that clip. Somebody killed your meat before you ate it.
