Epstein, Epstein, Epstein . . . but don't give up

You know...this is all just a play put on by Congress and the media.

The whole release of files is designed to fail. Massie knows it. Thune knows it. Johnson knows it. Trump knows it.

It is performance politics that is designed to take up the time so that no real work gets done on anything before the mid-terms while everyone is busy raising funds for their 'campaigns'.

There will be no 100 Republicans voting for the release of the files. I doubt if even 40 of them vote for it.

Because they know that the Senate won't even take up the vote and that attaching it as an amendment to another bill will fail.

They know they won't have a veto proof majority.

They know that no one is going to be exposed except a slow drip that will now more likely target Dem power brokers and donors.

Last week, Trump ordered an investigation into Bill Clinton's and Larry Summers' connections to Epstein.

Let's say that the bill does pass the Senate...

DOJ: "We cannot release the Epstein information, as it is part of an ongoing investigation."

It is now the "I'm under audit" blanket excuse for not releasing things.

Exactly.

The most powerful in the US and other parts of the world are never, ever going to allow the files to be released.

When Johnson and TrumpCo. were sure they had a failsafe plan to block the files, then he seated the Congress seat filler.

And proof positive that TrumpCo. have a failsafe plan...his support for GQPers to vote for release in order to make all of this stop once and for all.

It's all a scam.
Trump directs Bondi to open "investigations" into other people in the files.
Trump says, I'm fine with it now, it's ok, release the files.
Bondi says the files can't legally be released now because of investigations.
Trump says, well I wanted them released, but now they can't be released because of the investigations (that I ordered, so the files won't be released).
Trump thinks he's clever. :rotflmao:
MAGA Monster Morons believe him and somehow blame it on Biden.

It always was a scam.

Massie et al in the GQP have always known it would never pass the Senate and if it did, that Trump would veto.

The DoJ investigation gambit now provides cover for everyone.

There is one possible workaround: discovery.

If DOJ does file an action against Summers or Clinton, their attorneys can file a motion for discovery. There's nothing stopping Clinton or Summers from releasing the files to the Press.

^ Except their own guilt.
I have a feeling that if there were a smoking gun in the Epstein emails regarding Clinton or Summers, the Republicans would have leaked it by now.

My guess? It's going to end up being a bunch of ultra-wealthy Wall Street types that most of us have never heard of, a lot of wealthy supporters of Israel and guys involved with Epstein's money laundering enterprise. There may also be some guys who Epstein wanted dirt on, since gossip and rumor-mongering seemed to be part of his MO.

What we don't know is what Trump is so afraid of. I don't think it's the girls and the women (although there is likely to be a few of those). It has to be something that endangers the Trump Org, as that is the only thing that he believes he wouldn't get away with.

"Look over there. Squirrel!".

The pattern is beginning... Epstein associates on the left are going to be contrite and will be canceled. Epstein associates on the right will just continue doing what they are doing... or referring to reporters who ask too many questions as "piggy". Compounding this is the fact that Trump didn't use email and there's not going to be as much of a written record of his interactions with Epstein.

What is missing is the personal stories from the women who were trafficked by Epstein... and the names of the men who abused them.

Larry Summers is under fire for maintaining a friendship and discussing his personal life with Epstein via email until the day that Epstein was charged in 2019. So far, there hasn't been evidence that Summers had sex with any of the women, but the evidence is yet to be released.

Summers To Step Back from Public Commitments Amid Epstein Scandal
Former University President Lawrence H. Summers speaks in a Science Center lecture hall in October 2014 regarding future investments in public health.
Former Harvard President Lawrence H. Summers will step back from all public commitments in an effort “to rebuild trust and repair relationships with the people closest to me,” he wrote in a statement Monday evening.

The announcement comes less than one week after seven years of correspondence between Summers and the disgraced financier Jeffrey E. Epstein were released by Republicans on the House Oversight Committee. The documents showed Summers and Epstein continued to exchange messages until July 5, 2019 — just one day before Epstein was arrested on new sex-trafficking charges.

“I am deeply ashamed of my actions and recognize the pain they have caused. I take full responsibility for my misguided decision to continue communicating with Mr. Epstein,” Summers wrote to The Crimson.

Well, this was a surprise. Massie was saying he would likely get 10 Republican House members to join in on the vote. It was nearly unanimous. One Republican - Clay Higgins [R-LA] voted against the bill.

More proof that all the GQP know that the release will be blocked by the Senate or by the DoJ investigation.

They will all be able to use the vote for cover...but mark my words they will be on television tomorrow prevaricating and narrowing in on the files they are 'legally entitled to have and why they support the DoJ on this...not just for Trump's sake but for all the other people named as well.
