Eurovision 2015

Why can't we be in it? We love it and we love europe.

Plus as mentioned there are some places not in Europe who get to do it and why wouldn't you want to? It's marvelous!

Good luck then. ABBA was big in oz, right?

It could be argued that Australia settler society is for the most part of European origin, the majority from the British Isles making Australia's eligibility legitimate. Israel, likewise for the modern Israeli state's majority Jewish stock, are of European origin. New Zealand also qualifies in the same manner as Australia...maybe Kiwis are far too smart to want to participate?

El estado de Chihuahua es más extensa que el Reino Unido.

Australia is in the contest this year as an exception. It was deemed fitting for a few reasons. One is that it is the shows 60th anniversary, and to mark it with something special is good. Since Australia was given an interval act in last years show, they already had some involvement. Maybe that was a subtle hint of what was to come this year. Also, the theme is 'building bridges', and what bigger bridge is there than uniting countries on complete opposite sides of the world. Lastly, Australia has had a cult following for years, despite not being eligible. To recognise all these things, Australia was given an entry. If they win this year, they will be allowed to re-enter next year also out of fairness, but the show would still be hosted in Europe.

Israel, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia who are not European, are permitted entry for the same reason that Morocco appeared once, and that allows Tunisia, Algeria, Libya, Egypt and Jordan to enter if they wish - the EBU's (European Broadcasting Union) broadcasting area, which extends beyond the boundaries of Europe to include Northern Africa and the fringe of the Middle East.

Maybe in time, they will change the rules to allow out-of-area entries. Can't see it happening too soon though.

My favourite this year is Romania, but not because i enjoy the song the most. Something about it touched my heart and made me cry, not even kidding about that. I would have championed Latvia otherwise. I suspect and hope that Slovenia ultimately win, cos they've never won it before, and their song this year is fantastic.

This year´s entries all are so boring and similar to one another, that I choose Finland to win!

I'm grateful to the OP for posting the dates of this year's events. Sadly I'll be washing my hair on every one.

FUCK. THAT. SHIT.

In my home country of Sweden people go apeshit for Eurovision. If something important happens in the world during the Eurovision weekend that's just too bad because the media won't focus on anything else. If Israel decided to recognize Palestine and they all celebrated by throwing a huge gay orgy no one in Sweden would know about it because nothing is more important than the fucking Eurovision Song Contest.

I'm sorry. Carry on.

How did Australia become part of Europe?
It's on the complete opposite side of the planet.
Weird.

Its a fun thing and not weird.
Australia and New Zealand have a lot of European background living in it. Therefore New Zealand should be in it too.

Anyway, I don't like watching Euro-vision because the songs are boring to very very boring.

Can anyone give me the names of outstanding songs from the Euro-vision (exclude Abba) ?

Then it should be called WhitePeopleVision. I still won't watch it, as before. But the few clips that I invariably see are always a lot of fun.

Even though that was obvious trolling I'm going to bite anyway and say that in the last few years there have been a lot of Middle Eastern and african descended musical acts at eurovision

I would consider the following to be the most outstanding of this year:-

Estonia - Elina Born & Stig Rästa - singing 'Goodbye To Yesterday'
Norway - Mørland & Debrah Scarlett - singing 'A Monster Like Me'
Slovenia - Maraaya - singing 'Here For You'

Those three are excellent and all in my top 10. I have personal favourites which won't/may not, do as well, but which i think stand out:-

Belgium - Loïc Nottet - Rhythum Inside
Latvia - Aminata - Love Injected
Romania - Voltaj - De La Capat/ All Over Again
Spain - Edurne - Amanecer
