London, May 5 (ANI): Sir Cliff Richard only missed winning the Eurovision Song Contest of 1968 because of General Francos fascist regime, which rigged the contest to boost Spains image, a documentary has claimed.

That was something that has already been known: I remember Cliff Richard commenting his loss in 1968 on some appearance on Spanish TV years ago.
It's the sort of thing that the British yellow populist media love to bring about every now and then when they want drama and feel tired of their dignity and want to put themselves down

Rigging the result, does tend to encourage gossip.

Oh Lord, I'm so ashamed for being a Spaniard... wait... I'm Catalan, and the Catalan guy who was supposed to sing the song that robbed the first place got kicked out of the competition before he could perform so... leave it to idle British who don't have anything better to do: like Sir Rich.

Are you a Spaniard, of the Catalan variety?

Do you support rigging the result of the European Song Contest?

I thought I would ask. Just to clarify your predictable attempts to muddy the waters.

Viva! straight dealing.

Less than an hour to go! Can't wait any longer! I love the ESC. Unfortunately Austria is not paticipating this year. Norway is my favourite!!!!

Some Austrian entries for the ESC:

Stockholm 2000: The Rounder Girls - All for you

Tallinn 2002: Manuel Ortega - Say a word

Riga 2003: Alf Poier - Weil der Mensch zählt (stupid song but rank 6)

Istanbul 2004: TieBreak - Du Bist

Kiev 2005: Global Kryner - Y'asi

Helsinki 2007: Eric Papilaya - Get a life-get alive

All contests and awards are rigged  heck, even academic grades are  old farts should be aware of that: otherwise, what's their worth if they don't even have the wisdom coming from experience in old age?
If you want to get recognized by your work, first work to do something exceptional and then you may care to find people who have more discernment than just pride or sympathy for you.

Rigging the result to stop Cliff Richard from winning? That is something i can only be supportive of!

and they have the nerve to say that those were the old days of no-crap... and get upset for losing or proud for having won... :rotflmao:

This one was close to being the winner, but Spain itself gave the winning points to some other country. So what, like Sir Rich's song, it was a bigger hit, and today it is loved by the depraved people who love pop.

If you say so. It must be so. belamy has spoken.

So the big countries buy their way into the final and the new countries block vote making sure they don't win.
Might want to read upon the history of the Concours Eurovision de la Chanson. These big countries were the ones that created this contest and financially support it the most, so they get a bonus.

The loser countries of Europe, and the ones that have been dragged, kicking and screaming, in the modern world from behind their Iron Curtain, would do well to remember what state they would be in were it not for the five countries that they will vote last (UK, Spain, France, Italy, Germany).

Those five countries are, not coincidentally, the five biggest sponsors of Eurovision.

Having now seen all the performances, I shall vote for Germany. Only because I liked the singer.

Yay for Dita von Teese!

The Germans know how to buy in a star....us idiots in the UK paid Andrew Lloyd Webber a hell of a lot of money and most of Europe probably just thought he was the piano player and nothing more...

Well done Norway. It was certainly a fairytale for Alexander.
