Explaining the Narcissistic Rage of the Left

Kaepernick is biting the hand that feeds him. Arpaio is a brave man defending his country from external invasion and internal enemies.

Kaepernick is biting the hand that disrespects his whole race. Arpaio is biting the hand that feeds him, literally the hands that will harvest his meals.

Working for a living and supporting their children would be the way to gain respect. Disrespecting the people who pay for their welfare and crime is not.

There is nothing progressive about socialism or more and more intrusive, controlling government. That is not progress. By that definition, Cuba, Venezuela and North Korea would be the most progressive nations. Democrats do not want that, but they will never be able to limit their control. They implicitly believe that everything not nice should be prohibited by the government.

In terms of philosophy 101, you're confusing substance with accidents.

I don't understand your question. We hated Obama's socialism, not the man.

His "socialism"? Obama was a corporate sell-out.

Freedom of speech includes the right to criticize or slander long dead evil doers.

I'm more concerned about today's evildoers, the GOP Congress who despise the country's Judeo-Christian heritage and instead worship Mammon.

Obama's promotion of Islam verbally and by immigration, endangers our western civilization.

You really ought to follow the advice here to READ THE SNOPES ARTICLE.

Point of Inquiry:

Is the absence of “belief in punishment” a primary explanation for why Christianity is now a much weaker religion?

Hardly. Far more significant is the idiocy of too many "evangelicals" rejecting science and failing to actually read their own holy book. Young people are abandoning such Christian churches because they see the obvious lies (and the plain conclusion that if the Young-Earth Creationists are right, God is a liar).

Originally I thought the Democrats were just a bunch of sniveling bigots, but now it's sadly obvious that the problem with American politics goes much deeper than that.

The real problem with American politics today is that both sides have inherited the arrogant self-righteousness of the Puritans. Both sides believe they are infallible and don't need to listen to evidence from reality.

Not really. Our internal problems are increasing as the influence of the Puritans and Protestants in general have decreased, Modern democracy was born of the independence and self reliance engendered by the Protestant Reformation. That is the major reason why democracy and innovation have flourished is Protestant countries and struggled--and continue to struggle--in Catholic countries where people are taught to accept authority.

You are reinforcing the notion that some of us pay and some of us do not; some are worthy of respect and some are not; some are entitled to equal protection and some are not. This is about free speech. It is a way to demonstrate that everyone deserves expression, even those with tiki torches. About half of us support this protest and half do not. I don't agree with your opinion, but you're entitled.

This is not about free speech, as no one questions their legal right to protest. But the fans pay big money to enjoy the game and have lifted the players from welfare to wealth in the process. Now when they go they have are slapped in the face by ungrateful players eager to express their hatred of whites and America.

If you bothered to read your own article that you posted, you would see that he didn't say what you are saying he said.

Then again, you probably wouldn't because you will read ONLY what you want to read and believe ONLY what you want to believe.
OMG! Really? Apparently context is only valid when you want it to be. In the MSM Trump is quoted out of context daily and you take it as gospel. :rotflmao:

Once again with the 'humiliation and mocking non-response'.

Without being sarcastic, the Gospel is contained in Matthew, Mark, Luke and (my personal favorite) John. Just speaking for myself, I'd rather not mix them into any political conversation. Let's leave the Gospel in its context.

This is a concept of black freeloaders hating white loaders. Us vs Them is free speech. But my world is not so neat and tidy. Us + Them = We The People. (We come in all colors and demeanors.) I feel your demeanor and don't care what color you are.
Free speech ignores who's getting what from whom. It's free.

Refusing the custom to stand for the national anthem is divisive, the very antithesis of We the People. The purpose of standing is to show solidarity and unity, especially with the people who have and are fighting and dying for our county. The purpose of no standing is to show rejection of that unity. A rude slap in the face of those who pay the big salaries of the players.

I think the point of the protest is to peacefully point out that one group of armed people are shooting another group of unarmed people. These are hard groups to unite. Nate Boyer, a Green Beret vet, suggested Kapernick take a knee rather than sitting. Out of repect for those serving and the unarmed citizens, he kneels. He's unemployed, but many have picked up his torch. You and I must accept that we are divided on this exercise.

Refusing the custom to stand for the national anthem

You've said that magic word. That's all it is... 'custom'. As has been pointed out before, it is only at a few sporting events where it's played.

Do a little homework and you will discover that it wasn't even 10 years ago that football players started standing on the field. Before then, They Were In The Bloody Locker Rooms NOT Standing For The Anthem. Until then, their custom was to sit on their asses.

It is also a game, not the pledge.

Which was an excellent custom, in my opinion. The words to the anthem that nobody bothers to fully memorize are, apparently, less than stellar in content. Mr. Key fought against the black Colonial Marines in battle and got his (and his unit's) ass whupped, at least from what I've gathered. So he spent a couple lines gloating that that's what slaves, ect get for setting against the might of the usa. Personally I'd think it more than a bit low to put in a jab concerning how slaves themselves specifically lost (their chance at freedom) in anthem concerning freedom. Hypocritical at the very least. There's an argument for the inclusion of the overal meaning of 'slave', though I don't believe you can make the distinction between keeping the general and excluding the specific considering Key's own history. Grudges tend to make it into written artistic works, one way or another.
