Re: Cyndi Lauper : "Bring ya to the brink"

This is Cyndi's BEST CD EVER! No doubt. This is the kind of CD that Madonna only wishes she could put together. It's unique and has a retro sound while sounding fresh and new. We all need to go and buy a copy so that she can have one hell of a come back.

Sorry to hear the one guy didn't like her when he met her. Don't base your opinion on one of those CD singing meet and greets. Those are tough. I met her on one and the managers talked down to us and said "don't look at her, don't talk to her...she's nice and will start talking and we will never get through the line". Plus I think that was when she got injered in concert and was walkign with a cane :(

This CD is the best female CD this year!

Re: Cyndi Lauper : "Bring ya to the brink"

I'm suprised about your experience. I met Cyndi at a Borders in FT Lauderdale, where she did an acoustic version of a few of her songs and she signed her latest CD at the time, "Shine," which I think is a great CD. She was very nice to me and to all her fans that she autogaphed CD's for. I had seen her perform in concert in FT Lauderdale the night before, where she opened for Cher's Farewell Tour. This was about 4 years ago I think.

She seemed very friendly and down to earth when I met her. It's unfortunate that you had a bad experience.
Hey! I was at the Boarder's signing in Ft. Lauderdale too! I wonder if we were in line togehter...

Re: Cyndi Lauper : "Bring ya to the brink"

I agree that this album rocks. I've been a fan since her early days and I even appreciate some of the underrated middle albums that didn't get a lot of airplay. (Come on "Ballad of Cleo and Joe" is an amazing track!)

I was pleasantly surprised by "Bring Ya To The Brink". I was a bit disappointed with Shine and was starting to feel as if music was passing her by. But this album is lyrically strong; the hooks are amazing and the production values are current, tight and solid.

My faves are "High and Mighty", "Into the Nightlife," "Rocking Chair" and "Echo." I like "Same Ol' Fucking Story" and "Lyfe" but they didn't grab me as much as the first four.

I liked it so much I got tix for the True Colors stop in upstate NY in two weeks. I can't wait to see her perform these songs live.

Re: Cyndi Lauper : "Bring ya to the brink"

Cyndi Lauper's "Bring Ya to the Brink" debuted at No. 41 on the Billboard 200 chart with 12,000 copies sold in its first week.

This is her best album debut since the #37 peak position earned by "A night to remember" back in 1989.

Re: Cyndi Lauper : "Bring ya to the brink"

I just love it, the more I played the more we like it. Great departure and absolutely a little gem. Everyone, Go get it!

Re: Cyndi Lauper : "Bring ya to the brink"

I've only heard "Echo" but I love that song...i've never really been a Cyndi fan...I've like like the old songs...and I've actually seen her live cause she played a concert put on by a radio station I used to work for...but I've never really sought out her stuff...but i heard such good things about this album I checked out this song that this blog was raving about and I love it..so i'm gonna have to check out the rest of the album!

Re: Cyndi Lauper : "Bring ya to the brink"

Check out her new video. Premiered today!

Simple and straight to the point. I think it captures beautifully the essence of the lyrics.

If you consider the fact that Cyndi directed it herself, the results exceed the expectations.

Last note: She looks absolutely great!!!

Re: Cyndi Lauper's True Colors Tour

hmmm....I'm thinking about going by myself....

I have 2 tickets but I don't know what to do with the other one. I don't want anyone to feel like they need to go with me so I have not really asked anyone. hmmm....i'm not so sure that most of the people that I know would like the music....hmmm....it's ok to go alone....isn't it?

ehhhh....I'm just going to do it...

(dang...I miss my best friend. We loved to do the same things. )

Re: Cyndi Lauper's True Colors Tour

That's going to be one stellar concert.

Problem woudl be if you were going for just that, coming out of town, and then driving home afterwards, the streets will be a mess if the cops don't direct traffic and shut down a street.

Either way, Jealous and wish I could go. I love Cyndi!

Yeah....traffic will be heavy...but I accept that I will have to deal with that. :)

Re: Cyndi Lauper's True Colors Tour

Well I did it. I went by myself. I guess that was a good test for myself. I sometimes wonder if I'm going to end up alone, working from home, never seeing anyone...i'm a little scared about that. I did fine at the concert. It is not as fun but i did ok. Considering how shy I am, I think that makes it worse.

Gesh, there were some amazingly gorgeous male couples there. It was nice to see so many happy couples. :)

Re: Cyndi Lauper : "Bring ya to the brink"

I can't tell you how much I love her new album. Once you listen to it a few times you can't stop playing it!

I can only describe the album as : ADDICTIVE

I've been listening to it for almost two months and I still can't get enough.

Re: Cyndi Lauper : "Bring ya to the brink"

My favourite tracks on the album are 'Echo', 'Into The Nightlife', 'Lay Me Down', 'Give It Up' and 'Grab A Hold'.

I got it yesterday.... I haven't listened to it properly but so far 'same old story' is the only song that sticks out.
