Favorite Gay Movie?

So the only gay movie's I've watched were Shelter, East Side Story, Latter Days and Mambo Italiano.
My favorite ones are East Side Story and Latter Days.
What is your favorite gay movie and do you know any movies like East Side Story and Latter Days?

Edge of Seventeen, Get Real and Dorian Blues were a few of my favorites. Of course, I also loved Brokeback Mountain, probably moreso because it was the first gay movie that gained commercial success in the crossover market. Dorian Blues is really good for some good laughs.

Isn't it supposed to be about their relationship with the kid?

I couldn't care less how much affection is shown between the two men unless it's really instrumental to the film at some point.

Now if the writing is bad or they realistically construct the relationship between the two men and the kid, that definitely makes it worth avoiding.

The point is, the two men are not believable as a gay couple. The fact that they are a gay couple is instrumental to the film. If you want to see it, knock yourself out, and if you think it's the greatest thing since sliced bread...well, there's no accounting for taste. :)

I thought it was garbage.

Wedding Banquet - I liked this very much.

9 Dead Gay Guys - a comedy in a gay setting.

... They touch home with me. I haven't come out yet...so I can relate to all four of these movies and the pain and rejection I will probably face when that time comes.

I can't sit here and tell you that you won't lose friends over revealing your sexual orientation, but the ones you keep are the unconditional friends, the ones you can always count on being there for you. Plus, you'll discover a whole new circle of friends once you do decide to come out. I'm not going to try and convince you that you need to come out now. Everyone has to do it in their own time, but know that it's something you'll eventually have to do, and the sooner you do it, the quicker you can become adjusted to being totally free about who you are. My biggest regret about coming out is that I waited so long to find the courage to do it.

My Beautiful Laundrette but seeing clips of Beautiful Thing, I think that tenderness was very well scripted and played and that could replace my favourite gay movie if I ever get to see it. One of my favourite books is Edmund White's The Beautiful Room is Empty, so I guess its a beautiful trio.

Shelter. I'm pretty sure its the only gay movie I've intentionally watched too.

1) Latter Days
2) Shank
3) Shelter
4) La Mission

If you liked those you might also enjoy "Get Real" and "Broadway Damage". I've avoided "La Mission", but based on the fact that I liked the other 3 mentioned on your list, I think I'll give it a shot.

Actually, there are now 4 (Eating Out: Drama Camp) soon to be 5 "Eating Outs."

Well I read that there was a 4 and 5 coming out a while back, but I didn't know the 4th had come out already.

There was a good made-for-TV movie about coming out, "Doing Time on Maple Drive" with William McNamara (unbelievably gorgeous) and a very young Jim Carey. They're brothers, not lovers.

"A Home at the End of the World" was a financial flop. The plot is a sweet fantasy of wishful thinking involving AIDS and gay-straight love; but Colin Farrell's performance makes it well worth seeing.

This is a great movie ! (ww)

Eating Out 4 was a HOOOT HOOOT MESS! It seems like they ran out of ideas (sort of like what happened on Season 2 of Gigolos, and Season 10 of Smallvile). I would hate to see the disaster of the so-called Eating Out 5. ](*,)

Yea, I avoided La Mission, too, for about 4 months---but I finally put it at the top of my Netflix queue and watched it----it was a lot better and touching than I thought. I will watch Get Real and Broadway Damage, as you suggest. ..|

Prayers for Bobby (really sad but really good)

Save Me

Were the World Mine (musical, weird but funny and good)

I heard about a movie today. Circuit. I have never seen it. But the gentleman telling me about it was really upset it had been made. He felt that it unfairly judged the gay bar culture and made gays look poorly.

I looked up the movie on IMDB, and the film description was more or less along the description as I heard it. But as I don't really hold bar culture in high regard, I'm not offended by it.

I'm curious to see it. Have any of you seen Cicuit?

Saw it and found it fascinating... and packed with eye-candy. It's definitely not an apologetic movie; it doesn't gloss, or focus on heteronormative fuzzie-wuzzies the way so many "gay" films do... its characters are human, flawed and intriguing, redeemable but not always redeemed. It's definitely worth watching.

I saw Circuit a couple of years ago. I didn't find it offensive myself, although I can understand how someone would not like the portrayal of gay nightlife/party culture. I did find it to be a relevent depiction of a certain scene and certain people. I enjoyed the story, which was very honest and I remember the lead male actor being quite sexy.
